Enhanced Interiors Remodeling Reviews (%countItem)

Enhanced Interiors Remodeling LLC (EIR) was hired to remodel our kitchen. As part of the remodel, they took out a wall and the flooring. When they re-installed the flooring, it was not level where the wall had been removed and it had large gaps between the floor boards. We had to hire a different company to re-install the flooring correctly and sand the sub floor where the wall had been taken out to make it level. We also learned that Enhanced Interiors Remodeling had removed the flooring backwards and broke the locking mechanisms so this flooring cannot be taken up in the future if need be.

Next, EIR didn't complete some of the items in the contract, yet threatened to put a lien on our house if we didn't pay for them. The items they didn't complete were: under cabinet lighting in the drop zone and didn't reduce the bill for not needing to extend a wall. They also took our our phone line without asking.

The following is Enhanced Interiors Remodeling response to the Billing and Collection Complaint filed by the ***:
1. In the complaint, the *** state that the flooring was removed from the wrong direction and reinstalled with “large gaps”, and the area where the wall was removed was “not level”.

No assistance was offered in regards to the direction of the original installation. Removal of the flooring was performed in the most logical manner, without incident. Enhanced Interiors Remodeling (EIR) began reinstallation of the flooring, matching the uniformity of the existing flooring. During the reinstallation *** stopped the installation. Stating that (EIR) will not complete the flooring reinstallation. After listening to her concern EIR stated, per the contract, EIR has the right to contract the reinstallation. *** said “they would hire their own contractor.” The *** breeched the contract by not allowing EIR to contract the reinstallation of the flooring. As such EIR is not responsible for the additional cost incurred to the ***. However, the contract specified an amount of $340.00 for the removal and reinstallation of the flooring. Half of which was credited back to the *** for the work EIR did not perform.

2. In the complaint, the *** state that a wall was not extended, an undercabinet light was not installed for the Drop Zone, and the phone line was removed.
It was never specified to have an undercabinet light for the Drop Zone cabinet. Not on the plans, nor in the proposal. The Drop Zone cabinet is in an area separate from the kitchen cabinetry, on the other side of a patio door.
It had been proposed to increase the length of a wall by approximately 2 inches to accommodate the depth of their refrigerator. This was not included in the cost. The cost that was included was to correct the drywall where the header portion of said wall was removed. The need to extend the wall was eliminated when the *** selected a different refrigerator.
The phone line was not removed. It is located in the wall, behind the sheetrock. With kitchen projects, it is typical to remove the telephone wall jack and bury the line in the wall. No mention had ever been made to reconnect the line/jack. It is however available for reconnection if desired.
This is the first time the *** have made any mention regarding the undercabinet light, wall extension, and phone line. No request for final payment was made with any knowledge of these concerns.
When the *** refused to make their final payment, EIR simply reminded them of their contractual obligation regarding the final payment. The contract states the specified amount of time allowed to make payment upon request for said payment. It also states the ramifications if payment is not received.

RE: *** and ***
***
Shoreview MN 55126
The following is Enhanced Interiors Remodeling response to the *** rejection of the original response regarding the Billing and Collection Complaint filed by the ***:
1.) In the complaint, the *** state: “EIR incorrectly removed our flooring, broke the locking mechanisms and we had to pay someone else to do it correctly”
EIR will reiterate what we had already said in our previous response. The flooring was correctly removed without incident. Day one of the reinstallation had been completed without incident. *** had even stopped by to check on progress. During her time there she said nothing to Andy regarding the floor. On the second day when Andy arrived to complete the work the floor had many 8.5x11 sheets of ***r denoting issues the *** had with the floor.
(8.5x11 sheets of ***r, not sticky notes as described by Dawn. A minor detail but a good example of Dawn’s poor ability to recall.) Most of the issues were simply a product of the flooring itself. Two of them needed to be corrected. One of them was fixed immediately by Andy. Before Andy could address the second issue *** arrived and stated she no longer wanted EIR to reinstall the flooring and they would hire their own guy. Andy stopped his work and brought his tools to his truck. The *** breeched the contract by not allowing EIR to contract the reinstallation of the flooring. As such EIR is not responsible for the additional cost incurred to the ***. The contract clearly states the rights of both the contractor and client. The *** were also verbally reminded of their contractual obligation that morning.
2.) In the complaint, *** states when she notified Andy that EIR would no longer be reinstalling the flooring: “Andy said nothing but stared at me with rage-filled eyes. I was scared he was going to hit me. Then he stormed out and slammed his equipment into the back of his truck.”
This claim is utterly inappropriate. While EIR is unable to definitely say what *** was feeling, the suggestion that Andy was going to cause physical harm is inexcusable. When *** stopped EIR from completing the work, Andy said “okay”, removed his tools and went to his truck. Andy stayed onsite for the rest of the morning while the cabinetry was measured for countertops. Andy frequented the site many times from that point until the job was completed. Never once did the *** question Andy’s conduct. This is another outrageous attempt by *** to besmirch the character of EIR and its employees. EIR has received many insulting and threatening email and text messages from ***. *** would consistently threaten EIR with poor reviews on social media. Andy once asked *** if she felt it was professional to be sending the insulting texts and emails. She responded by saying “I don’t have to be professional, I’m the client!” and promptly hung up the phone.
3.) In the complaint, the *** state: “the Proposal is so vague—virtually nothing is specified.”
The proposal is thoroughly detailed, it calls out for undercabinet lighting to be located in the kitchen. The Dropzone is a separate cabinet. *** had specifically scheduled a walkthrough with the electrical contractor on a Friday at 8:00am. Andy, along with the electricians were to meet with her. *** didn’t show up. Instead Kevin, Dawn’s husband came. Andy and the electricians along with *** walked through all the items they had concerning the electrical. *** spent time on the phone with *** confirming the items that had been discussed. Nothing was mentioned regarding an undercabinet light for the Dropzone. When the final electrical was to be done, Andy met with *** again. They laid out the actual undercabinet light fixtures to make sure the proper length was selected for the kitchen cabinetry. Again, nothing was mentioned regarding the Dropzone.
4.) In the complaint, the *** state: “When we pushed to have things in writing, we would get a phone call to discuss things. It seems that they purposely answer emails with phone calls and phone calls with texts or emails so there is never a consistent line of communication and it is difficult to follow a "***r trail." “
This complaint/comment is ridiculous. EIR uses all facets of communication to ensure quality and control. EIR will happily provide all email and text correspondence, as well as the documents regarding the Plans, Proposal, Contract and Change Orders. There is no conspiracy here.
5.) In the complaint, the *** state: “About the wall extension. How would we know? Nothing was detailed out. To this day we have no idea of what was materials cost, labor cost and contractor fees because it was never detailed out.”
The wall extension was literally the addition of one (1) 2x4. This was to account for a deeper refrigerator the *** had selected. When the *** were told of how deep the refrigerator was, and how far it would protrude from the cabinetry they made a different selection. Their new refrigerator selection did not require an additional 2x4. However, the work required to mend the wall was still needed due to the removal of a header on said wall. All of which was detailed in the proposal as well as verbally explained to the *** while on site.
6.) In the complaint, the *** state: “As for the phone line. It is in the wall, behind the sheetrock? How is this typical? EIR said there was no mention to reconnect the line/jack, but we were never ASKED about it. Now we will need to hire an electrician to find the line and put in a jack.”
It IS typical for EIR to eliminate a phone jack when it is located on a kitchen counter top. Phone jacks tend to be viewed as unsightly and unnecessary. The sheetrock was installed over the phone line roughly 5 weeks prior to final payment. The *** never made mention of the phone jack until the project had been completed. As EIR stated before, the phone line is available for reconnection if so desired.
The *** absolutely refused to pay. There was nothing to clarify. They were aware of the cost of the project prior to signing the contract. They were aware of the change orders and the costs/credits associated. They were aware of what they had already paid and what they still owed upon completion of the project. When they refused to pay the remainder for the completed work, EIR reminded the *** of their contractual obligation. That is not a threat. EIR had completed the work and deserved to be paid.
***’s accusations towards EIR are completely without merit. EIR had been working with the *** since early January. EIR helped the *** design their new kitchen, compiling all the necessary information to put together a detailed proposal. A proposal the *** agreed with. *** wasn’t at all upset with EIR until she received a proposal for an addition project. The addition project was a second project *** wanted EIR to build. (Considering *** wanted EIR to do another project must have meant at some point EIR was in good standing with the ***) Per the ***, the addition project had doubled in size from its conception to the final drawings. *** was upset with the proposed cost of 190K, even though EIR had given her a “Ballpark figure” of 150K-200K. It was when *** received the proposal that she started to send texts and emails criticizing and insulting EIR. Her attitude towards EIR had completely changed. The project that was completed for *** was done in a timely manner and of high quality. I would encourage anyone who reads this to view the project on Houzz by clicking the link below.
