Entrusted Home Improvement Reviews (%countItem)

I agreed to have Nathaniel Parara of Entrusted Home Improvement come to my property to build an 8x10 shed. The workmanship was not acceptable and the shed was never going to be a usable structure. We were told it was going to take one day, but, it was built over the course of four days possibly totaling 12 hours or less to the near completed project. The project was never built to code, the foundation was never done correctly, the shed became crooked, and the materials used looked as if it was scrap material from previous jobs. The inside studs did not measure 16” on center nor 24” on center; it changed with each stud. The inside had no vent system, the floor was over lapped with plywood sheets because the flooring was cut incorrectly and laid on top of 12”x12” pavers that were just set on top of the lawn. The trim work measured inconsistent, door hardware was not correctly installed nor the type we had discussed. The inside showed various gaps in the roof line because cuts were improperly made and the list of imperfections goes on and on. When I discussed the disappointment with the project with Nathaniel, his resolution was to put gutters and siding on the building at no additional cost. When I again, mentioned that the building was crooked and would be in-useable, he advised that the resolution was to use ratchet straps, clearly knowing the building was incorrectly built.

I, Nathaniel Parara, extended assistance to *** as a high school friend to assist with building a shed that he and his wife both stated " simple shed". Consistent to what the two had requested is what was done and the project was not even considered to be a job. Furthermore, *** had asked me, Nathaniel Parara, to purchase the materials and her would reimburse me. I had spent in excess of $700.00 on lumber, shingles, pavers, joist and truss hangers, nails, screws, etc., all of which I have receipts for and was not reimbursed for that said materials. I, myself, actually considered pursuing small claims court to be reimbursed for the above said materials but I dont feel it worth the inconvenience as well as covid prolonging anything. I have photographs of the studs and whatnot to show that the shed was in fact done correctly but as I've previously stated, the shed was a HELPING HAND and *** has now taken this said project out of context and is improperly making an attempt to assassinate the character of my work ethic. I have been doing this handy man service for years and approximately 18 months independently and have had no complaints. The allegations made against me are completely false and baseless. In closing, *** has taken the shed apart so I'm unable for a proper inspection to be conducted to prove that *** has submitted a bogus complaint to your officers and I humbly request that this asinine complaint be disregarded. Thank you, Nathaniel Parara

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that HIS response does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Please be advised that we have documented this poorly
constructed “shed” with many, many, videos, photographs, and have had several eye
witnesses view the construction, including, two reputable construction
contractors and all who were appalled at the end result. Any of these items listed below can be
available for further viewing. This was never considered a “helping hands” project. We have
photos and videos of Mr. Parra working on this construction all by himself as
we contracted him to do. We also contracted
Mr. Parra by a text message that we can produce discussing the details of the
construction, the payment price and terms,
all of what HE suggested and what HE advised HE was “OK” with. Each and every day he planned to work, he advised us of a
time he planned to arrive. Each day he missed that time by hours and always
advised of some type of drama he had going on in his life that affected his
work schedule when he would finally arrive. Construction began on Thursday, May 14th, 2020. Mr.
Parra advised that he would begin at approximately 11 AM. He showed up at 2:00
PM. This was the longest day he actually
put in over the course of four days. Saturday, May 16th , arrived after 5 PM after
being told he would arrive at 7 AM. Monday, May 18th he arrived mid-afternoon with
two little boys under the ages of ten in tow, he left early (around 5 PM) to
get them back to their Mother. Tuesday, May 19th he arrived late afternoon and
was gone before 7 PM. This was the final day we allowed him on our property. He arrived each day with a twelve pack of *** beer,
which he drank while working. (We have empty beer bottles in several of the
photos taken while the shed was being built.). (80) 12”x12” cement pavers were purchased by Mr. Parra and placed
directly onto our uneven lawn. The construction of the shed foundation was then
built around these pavers. Ultimately this caused the unsteady foundation and
made the building crooked. Later when attempting to discuss the problem with
Mr. Parra, his response was a “simple fix” – he intended to use a “ratchet
strap” on a brand new building which would “fix” the problem. When we advised that the shed was not constructed properly
and we wanted it taken down, he contact us by text offering us siding and gutters at no additional cost to
us. None of the materials used included pressure treated lumber
and other pieces of wood used was easily identified as “older” wood - most
likely scrap material from previous jobs. In reviewing photos of materials, Mr. Parra brought to our property. You can visibly see some of the boards bowed at the bottoms, proving this wood was not brand new material. We gave Mr. Parra a full bundle of roofing shingles to use that was previously paid for by us and in our possession. The construction was to be an 8 x 10 shed; we did not
specifically discuss the height of the shed but Mr. Parra, in a way to avoid
cutting plywood pieces down, left the shed height at an estimated height of
approximately 15’ high. There were multiple areas where there was up to two inch
gaps in roof line. In one place, a section was filled in with 3” of caulk
between pieces of wood. Double doors did not close; bowed out and uneven. Hardware on doors was installed unevenly on each side and
was not the type of hardware requested. (slide lock vs. pad lock). Trim work lining up and down the door casing was installed
crooked. Began at 7.5” between the door frame at the bottom and ran up to 9.5”
at the top of the frame. No vent system installed. When inside the structure and doors were shut, many areas showed where light
shown through and water and other elements could have easily poured through causing
inside content damage and ruin. Common brad nails were used to adhere the roof to the roof line - With the poorly constructed roof, a wind storm or snow storm, the roof would have blown off or caved in. This shed was not constructed to last, it was a poor attempt to have something constructed, paid for, and Plywood was laid directly over the cement pavers with one
section of plywood incorrectly cut leaving a 3’ section unable to install
another piece of plywood flush against the other pieces. Therefore, the plywood was just
adhered and layered on top of the other pieces leaving a 1” raised section in
corner. Studs were neither 16” nor 24” on center – all various
sizes, nothing consistent. Outside back of shed had two pieces of plywood nailed so the
grain of the wood was horizontal. In order to close that wall, a 4’ section of
plywood was adhered in a vertical manner with different sized pieces of trim
laid in between all three sections in an attempt to close the gaps. Mr. Parra said he spent approximately $ 700 in materials,
however, we gave him $500 cash towards supplies on May 16th. We
received one receipt for $ 88.02 dated on May 17th. When asked for the other
receipts, he produced a photo text receipt that was dated in April. We never
contacted him to discuss the build until May so obviously he was producing a
false receipt and document that was not specific to our project. There are many photos in addition to what we have added as well as videos we took prior to the demolish that we did ourselves along with another witness. We can provide those additional items if need be. At this point, we will agree to take a $500 loss, call it even and forever part ways with this
unprofessional, unskilled, “General Contractor” and hope that no other previous
customer or future customers go through the same type of scenario we did. We will consider this matter resolved at this point.
Regards
