Enviro Masters Lawn Care & Property Maintenance Reviews (1)

I paid for a 3 month lawn care contract with this company in April 2015 for which I have a receipt for $390. Work not done. Phone calls not answered. I took out a contract with this company in April for lawn aeration, 2 fertilizings and weed control. I have a receipt for $390 dated April 30 (receipt number [redacted]). Aeration was completed in April. No further service has been provided. I have called the phone number in Regina several times (591-5993). No answer and no call backs. I called the parent company 2 weeks ago ([redacted]) explaining the problem and asking them to call back. No call back to date. No further service has been given to my lawn. No fertilizing and no weed control. I have called the local company in Regina, left messages to call back several times. There have been no call backs. Desired SettlementSince is late in the season I would like a refund. Aeration is about $80 which was done in April. I would like a refund of $310 for uncompleted lawn care. Business Response [redacted]. [redacted] did indeed pay for an aeration job and three applications of fertilizer and three applications of weed control. The Aeration was performed April 30 at 9:05am and the first application of fertilizer and weed control, which [redacted] says I did not do, was performed on the 21st of May at 3:00pm (I am required by law to keep records of when I use pesticides and which ones I use, etc). I was there personally to do the first application of fertilizer and weed control and know for a fact that I was there for it was the first time I had seen the property. [redacted] has made a special request that I call the night before coming to her house as she has a dog she needs to bring inside if she knows I'm coming. When I called the night before coming, that is when she told me that she had a dentist appointment the next day in the early afternoon. When I got to her place in the afternoon of May 21st, I could see that [redacted] had started to cut back her hedges earlier that day. Normally I return for my second application by the end of June, however this year was particularly hot and dry and so I decided to delay the second application for it would likely do more harm than good by stressing out the lawn. I did receive a call, in fact many calls from [redacted] starting about the middle of July. We did speak on one or two of those occasions and I explained the reasoning for the delay. It was during one of these phone calls that [redacted] told me matter of factly that she had not received her first application of fertilizer and weed control. I told her that I had done it myself one day in about the middle of May (as I did not have my application records right there in front of me to tell her the specific day) but remembered that she had had a dentist appointment that day. She did not believe me. On August 26 I finally did the second application of Fertilizer and weed control. She was working in her yard that day and did not seem angry with me, though I would say she was also not very pleased either. In addition to fertilizer and weed control, I treated her front yard for chinch bugs, free of charge, explaining what they are and what they did, and how to prevent them from coming back. Her neighbours also have chinch bugs too, and they have all probably had them for a couple of years judging by the looks of their lawns. Though it is late in the season, I am in the midst of my last application of fertilizer and weed control and expect to be done [redacted]'s lawn by September 15th. This is [redacted]'s first season with Enviro Masters. I understand her initial concern about not receiving a fertilizer and weed control application by mid-July. But after letting her know that I had been there the middle of May, and believe me the organic fertilizer I used on her lawn is unmistakable if you attempt to look for it even slightly, and for her to say I hadn't been there is really poor. I take pride in my work and believe I do my best for my customers. I could be fertilizing lawns when it is 35 degrees and hasn't rained for three weeks, but if you understand lawns, it just doesn't make any sense. [redacted] had spoken to me and I did return a call or two of hers. My head office in Ontario did contact me too, after I had already talked to [redacted], and so I touched base with [redacted] again to let her know that I was still going to come for her second and third application, when the weather allowed me to. I believe that this situation was resolved with [redacted] when I visited her place on August 26 and spoke with her face to face. This season, she will get what she paid for and even more as I did a treatment of insect control free of charge [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The manager of Enviromaster's response includes numerous extraneous and irrelevant details regarding the main issues. But he clearly admits that, in fact, no service was provided to my lawn between May 31 and August 26 during the main summer growing season. No fertilizer or weed control was provided for three months during the summer season. As a result my lawn was and is in poor condition and full of weeds. It also has pest infestation (chinch bugs)which could have been dealt with if I had known. The second application of fertilizer took place August 26, too little and too late in my view. Since there was no herbicide provided the weeds have already seeded for next year. My numerous phone calls to Enviromaster, which he also admits to, were not responded to. In the only call in which he spoke to me he said it was "too hot" to provide service. Well, I've had lawn service from [redacted], a reputable local company, for the past 20 years and never once have I had the response that heat meant no lawn service at all. Normally the work is done, the advice is to leave the lawn for 24 hours and then to water it thoroughly. Heat is no excuse for providing no lawn service for three months. I did not receive a single call from Enviromaster during that time to explain or justify this absence of service. I should also add that it is today September 13 and as yet no further service has been provided, no fertilizing has been done despite Enviromaster's supposed timetable. I prepaid $390 in April and believe that I nowhere near received work as paid for.
