technician showed me charges for 2 duck systems. then shows me pictures of dirty blower motor, but never explained the charge associated with cleaning it. I ended up paying double what I expected.

To whom it may concern,            Envirogreen [redacted] left a message with [redacted] on 11/** to please forward over receipts of any expenses incurred from our service so we can come to a quick resolution for everyone involved.......we have...

yet to hear back from her.

Review: I reported this complaint to NY Revdex.com a few months ago, but not sure it went through as we never heard back or received any acknowledgement. I have been trying to resolve our dispute with our credit card company since this summer. After seeing Envirogreen's advertising flyers each week in our local Ct. newspaper, I hired them to clean our home's air conditioning and heating ductwork system. They in turn sent out 2 men in a truck from NY HVAC. Never having had our ductwork cleaned before, I was not exactly aware of what this entailed (and soon learned a little too late). They brought in a small hose and for the most part "pretended" to do a cleaning of our home's ductwork system. They sold me additional services for way more money, convincing me that I really needed them. What I did not realize until after they left was... They didn't even take the registers off the ceiling on the 2nd floor vents, let alone clean them. They also didn't take any vacuums down to the basement or the attic where the main trunks of our ductwork system are located. Being suspicious of their behavior towards the end (and after paying them), I went to a recommended "NADCA" website (Nat'l Air Duct Cleaning Assoc) where they educate the public on proper cleaning techniques, as well as provide information on scams going around. I hired a 2nd company who came in and did a legitimate cleaning using quite different methods with larger vacuums and hoses and much higher suction for basically the same money. They confirmed that Envirogreen had left most of the ductwork, including the main trunks, uncleaned and covered in dust. We took before and after pictures. They also found that of the 20' length of dryer vent we had, Envirogreen cleaned about 3' or 4' of it, leaving the other 16-17' uncleaned. The difference between the 2 companies and the techniques they used was very noticeable. I highly recommend to anyone looking to have their ductwork cleaned to go to this website first and educate yourselves.Desired Settlement: We want our money fully refunded. They have refunded a portion of the bill for UV lights, which were cancelled the same day and never installed. We continue to look for a refund of the remaining $594.49 that they charged for the cleaning. As importantly, we want other people to know the kind of scams going on in this area of business, especially if you don't know what to look out for. Please educate yourselves. We wanted to report this to the Ct. Revdex.com as we live in Fairfield County, Ct and have seen much of Envirogreen's advertising in this area. We were directed to the NY site.

Response:

To whom it may concern,

Because [redacted] had declined out offer of a follow up cleaning of the area she was unsatisfied with upon the original service we would be willing to offer her a refund in the amount of $549.00. However she has already put in a dispute with her credit card company for the original full amount which was $1572.91. We are dispatching that amount because like [redacted] confirmed we have already issued her a credit of $978.42. We would be happy to give her a refund of the correct amount of 594.49 once we are satisfied that the credit card company will no longer go after her original transaction amount which was on $1572.91.

Thank You.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Our intention has always been to receive a full refund from "Envirogreen" in the amount of $1,572.91. As posted, we have already received a partial refund of $978.42 for uv lights, which were cancelled and never installed. We have been waiting for the remaining $594.49, which was charged for the cleaning. Our credit card company, Discover, has had difficulty in understanding this dispute and has handled it ineffectually. Please refund the remaining amount of $594.49 to our credit card or send us a check directly. Upon receipt of this refund, we will consider this issue resolved with the credit card co. Thank you.

Review: We hired Envirogreen to clean our air vents and dryer vent. They told us we needed UV lights installed to control a slight amount of mold found in 1 vent. The cost was two thousand three hundred and 27 dollara (2,327) We paid them the full amount before the UV lights were installed. On the day the UV light were being installed the worker ,[redacted], arrived and peremptorily turned off all the breakers He never asked or discussed what breakers controlled what . He then went into the attic and worked on the UV light up there On his way down the ladder he stood on my hand cauing bruising. then he rushed to the basement to install the other light. After about an hour working on the electrical wires he said he was unable to install them the light. Electrical Wires were left hanging from the wall. he tried to call [redacted] his boss to get instructions. I then asked him to leave. Many electrical fixtures were not working including the basement lights, TVs and outside lights and fish pond pumps. I hired a licensed electrcian who come that night and made the area safe. He returned the next day and repaired the wires , ouside light ( which still has a problem ) TYhe ecletrician found that the UV light in the attic had been attached to the light switch which meant that the system would only work if anyone went up top the attic and turned on the light. This installation was also not installed safely according to the report from the the electrician. I also needed to hire an HVAC engieer to check on the HVAC system as the worker had also removed the cover on it.

My wife called Envirogreen and reported the problem to [redacted] She had numerous conversations with him and each conversation he agreed to a different amount as settlement .Desired Settlement: Refund of all expenses incurred as well as regulatory oversight. The work performed by Envirogreen placed me,my family and our home in serious jeopardy from electric shock from exposed live wires lying on the ground and unsafe installation of UV light in attic The risk of fire was very great. This company needs to have their business license removed for safety violations and allowing workers to do work for which they are not trained and licensed for.

Review: Misleading adisementvert, unprofessional service, and unfair charges of Envirogreen (A/C Duct) Cleaning & Restoration that must have ripped off naively trusting customers of NY, CT, and NJ. On March [redacted] 2014, I talked to one duct-cleaning advertiser who stated that my house ducts could be cleaned for $149, Next, I contacted Enirogreen whose flyer advertised the cleaning of up to 10 vents for $89. After talking to its [redacted], [redacted], I learned he would clean the ducts better by brush and suction, not by suction only. The work started on March ** for a fee of $705, that I later found to be comparatively excessive. Unfortunately, the job was done neither professionally nor complete, and it is, as of now, still unfinished, even though the money was already pocketed. Before talking to these two companies, I personally had cleaned, with limited tools, about five feet into each of the 15 vents. I offered to help [redacted] technician, [redacted]. Had I not been with this technician to open a small opening in one basement duct elbow, that duct would not have been cleaned. The technicians preliminary cover-up was that the duct had been cleaned from the first floor vent. Contrary to what he had said, that duct proved to be full of dust and mildew. The technicians excuse was that it would be impossible to do a completely thorough job. After the technician was gone, I suspected another basement duct in the workshop. I called [redacted], who offered to send [redacted] again. During the second visit, the duct was full of dust and mildew. I took a picture of the black dirt on the old filter, and e-mailed a picture of it to [redacted]. No response from [redacted]. After the first and second duct cleanings, I suspected that a third basement duct might still be untouched, and behold, I was right. I opened a T-shaped elbow that joined three ducts, and the three were filthy, showing no signs of cleaning. Again, I sent pictures of the dirt to [redacted], whose worry was that I sign a release for a refund of $100.Desired Settlement: 1) Have the work completed by another technician, or I would have to hire another company, and Envirogreen would be charged. 2) Make a refund of $400 (instead of the $100 offered but not yet refunded). 3) Pay for a visit, and related medication, to a sinus physician (as I am [redacted] as a reaction to dirty air ducts). Another family member may also need to be checked for the same respiratory symptom. 4) Pay for suffering cold March-April weather ? after the job was done twice inefficiently

Response:

To Whom it mat concern,

We provided services to [redacted] on March **. We have a 'post-cleaning checklist' of which he signed off on stating satisfaction. A few days later he called & said although he thought the vents were cleaned, they were simply not cleaned to his satisfaction. During this conversation [redacted] mentioned to me that his expectations will always exceed the average consumer. I never hesitated in scheduling & sending over a follow up cleaning service to make certain [redacted] was 100% satisfied. On March ** we completed the follow up of which [redacted] said he was satisfied at this point with the service but not the original amount he spent for the cleaning (in which we already provided a free Electrostatic filter which has a $99 value). To put this situation to an end I offered a good will & a show of good faith gesture in offering a $100 refund to which he verbally accepted at the time over the phone. 2 days or so later he called & said he now felt a $400 refund would satisfy him. We've done all we could to satisfy [redacted] & have come to realize the satisfaction only lasts temporarily until he looks for something else......we do not at all feel a $400 refund is justified or warranted. If [redacted] wants this to be resolved I'll hold to my original refund offer of $100.

Thank You

Sincerely,

[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The main issue of this dispute with Envirogreen (though in reality "not so green") is not addressed: The claimed duct cleaning work is, as of now, not completed as promised or rather it has not even started, despite the fact that the undeserved money paid Envirogreen was pocketed, and thus the company (or its [redacted]) misleads its customers, and does not care about the negative health and financial consequences that the customer faces as a result of such bad business). Have you, or has [redacted], looked at the eloquent and recent pictures of filthy ducts? Also, the Revdex.com-requested "Desired settlement" was laid in four points, but was not responded to, point-by-point, with any justification in view of a peaceful settlement.

I wonder whether Revdex.com acts only as a mail service (which was not expected) or as a mediator or arbitrator (which looks into the dispute and offers a positive contribution towards a fair and peaceful settlement). It looks like the legal means is a more efficient, though costly, way of getting justice, and putting an end, or at least a "speed bump," for Envirogreen’ misleading naively trusting customers.

I could not answer Revdex.com's earlier correspondence as I was busy and out of town.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business
