Environmental Landworks Company, Inc. Reviews (3)

Mr and Mrs [redacted] ([redacted] Residence)  are customers of Environmental Landworks.   There project was constructed throughout the fall of 2013, and completed late spring / summer of 2014.  The project was designed, priced and installed 100% per contract documents.  The Job...

was accepted and paid in full by Mr [redacted].  In this case the warranty expired on 8.30.2015.  In the Spring of 2015 Environmental Landworks  Co  scheduled a warranty walk  and performed replacements and repairs  to plant material, irrigation and hardscapes / pavers.     We also agreed to extend the warranty on a very limited amount of plant material.  The (2) #5 gallon spirea’s  were not dead, however … they were not looking great. We appreciated the [redacted]s intent to let the struggling plant have a few more weeks to decide its fate.  Unfortunately, the plant material failed.   Both parties agreed to replace this material in spring of 2016.  Plant material is seasonal, selection and survivability are greater in late spring.  We are still planning on replacing the 2 shrubs ( spirea )  this spring once they are available at our nursery suppliers.. Furthermore, the hardscape repairs / maintenance that is needed at the [redacted] Residence were reported to Environmental Landworks Co. in the fall of 2015, after the 1 year warranty had expired. These items were not documented or reported prior to the warranty period expiration.  These issues were only brought to our attention after we agreed upon extending the warranty on the 2 shrubs that were explained above. Even with that being said, Environmental Landworks Co. agreed to put our best foot forward, not split hairs and do the minor repairs to the concrete.  This consists specifically of installing a small amount of joint caulking, and  1 small chip repair .     Environmental Landworks Co did not ever commit to having this work completed by a specific date.  We did commit to having it completed this spring and we did say that we would try to take advantage of good weather if allowed.   The [redacted]s comments on the “warmest weather in recorded history”  is irrelevant .  As we have explained to the [redacted]s….Concrete, much like the  horticulture  ( plant material )  is seasonal due its need to have above  freezing  temps for extended amounts of time, it is still winter.    The days have been shorter, and the nights still cold.  The ambient temps throughout the day rarely are enough to raise the temperature of the concrete itself.  The epoxy’s, glues and caulkings success relate to the rising temperatures of the concrete, not the air.  As much as we appreciate the good weather as being nicer than usual, it doesn’t really play a role in the chemical reaction between the concrete, epoxy and grout.  These are the facts (stated above) .  We have the [redacted]s on our spring 2016 schedule. We have not forgotten about them.  As originally promised we will have the 2 small shrubs replaced, and complete the minor repairs to the concrete.  Historically we typically see extended workable temperatures for this type of work around mid April.    We are committed to do everything we can to wrap this up for the [redacted]s.

Environmental Landworks has scheduled this warranty work.  We are fighting spring weather and snow storms.  We have been in contact with Mrs. [redacted] to advise her of our warranty schedule.  Unfortunately due to this past snow and rain event we will be re scheduling to account for lost days.  Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] will be updated by our staff this week.  We know that good weather is just around the corner and we are excited to get these items completed for the [redacted].

Complaint: 11192244
I am rejecting this response because:It is nice to finally get a response from EL. We’re assuming the only reason they responded is because we filed a formal complaint with the Revdex.com. We have tried on several occasions subsequent to their last visit on 9/29/15 to communicate with them regarding the issues still outstanding since work was completed in July of 2014. During the September visit, we were told they would repair the problem items as weather permitted. We learned over the 2+ years of dealing with them that this was their standard mantra. Often, the weather was perfectly acceptable to complete work and still they did not show up.Though I appreciate the attempted chemistry lesson on concrete, this was never explained at the 9/29/15 visit nor subsequently. At the time, we were told that they would look into the best way to repair it and would complete the work “as weather permitted”. That never happened. If the chemistry is correct, we had no idea. However, a simple internet search and reading on epoxy and concrete indicates that it can be done when temperatures are as low as 35 degrees. We’re not claiming to be experts in this area. But there have probably been many opportunities over the last SIX MONTHS to repair the concrete. Concrete gets poured/repaired year round. We live in Colorado. Same with grouting all the cracked concrete.Understand that we made several attempts to get EL to visit the property before 9/29/15 to insure the concrete work and caulking were done before the cold weather came. We wanted to insure cold weather and ice did not worsen these problem areas. But they took forever to respond. A quicker response from EL in late summer of 2015 and the work would have been completed. Any needed chemistry lessons and disagreements over the weather would be irrelevant. Most importantly, subsequent to our September meeting, there have been many opportunities to communicate with or respond to us and that hasn’t happened. We will not consider this complaint resolved until the work is completed to our satisfaction.Sincerely,
[redacted]
