When you state that you actually did call with estimate that was deceptively false What actually happened was you called with all repairs COMPLETED and my total cost which I immediately responded negatively toThe estimate that you are referring to was at that time and conversation for a new drive belt which was going to be an additional $140.00....outrageous On original repair statement it clearly states to fix bent pipe, sharpen blades and do oil change Anything beyond that or in addition to I should have consulted BEFORE moving forward. In my opinion you are not meeting me more than half way Simple math I am willing to settle this claim with an adjustment to $plus taxStill less than half way This brings my total to over $with PU/Del More than I intended to put into this old mower...had I been given that opportunity.Regards, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards,
*** ***

Dear ***,In response to Mr*** complaint let us begin by saying we regret this misunderstandingWe believe this to be an honest misunderstanding. For purposes of clarifying the issues, Mr*** claims, we offer the following:When mower was being loaded on trailer the piman told
Mr*** we would call if the repair was of a serious natureHe then said, OK, I don’t want to put more than several hundred into repairAt first glance it looked to be well under several hundredOnce in shop and more closely inspected there was more to fixing it than it originally appearedThe engine’s ignition coil was bad, due to rodent damage of the coilThe coil had to be replaced, which he did not know when we picked up the unitWe did the additional repairs, as requested, such as repairing the hood, which he gave us in pieces when picked upHe did not know or failed to tell us the hood was broken and required more time and material vs simply putting it back onHe asked for oil changeHe was told we would change it for the cost of oil only, not “no-charge” as he recalledHe asked for blades to be replaced or sharpenedSharpening is less costly than replacementHe mentions cost of blades, but fails to consider the labor to remove and install. We actually did call him with an estimate, when we realized the upper deck belt is worn with cracksIt is advisable to replace the belt before it breaksHowever, this would have taken the repair over our estimation threshold of $590, and also over his requested limit of several hundredMr*** sites the total amount of $557, however the repairs we had completed, before calling with estimate, totaled $Pick-up/Delivery and sales tax are not part of the repair amount, we consider before calling with an estimate(This policy is in writingIt is in large, bold print at the top of our service order and printed on the claim check, he received when we picked up the unitA copy is attached)Regardless of these facts, we empathize with his opinions, and perhaps should have called before proceeding with hood repair and sharpening blades. We are willing to meet Mr*** more than half wayWe are prepared, on a good-will basis, to adjust his repair bill from $to $This reduces his total to $415.26, leaving a balance of $This represents an overall adjustment of $(33% off parts & labor).Regards,Dan F**Shop Manager

[redacted]---NOTE FROM Revdex.com/MRC [redacted]: Revdex.com received additional response from consumer which is being provided as follows:---Hi [redacted],           I inadvertently hit the proceed button on my complaint form over the weekend and was told to send it directly to you.In response to Don's lawn mower service claim # [redacted] I have previously stated the facts as they pertain to my complaint.  I am going to correct a few of Dans misconceptions of what took place.  When I stated to "pickup guy"  not to go over a few hundred dollars (not several hundred, which by the way $432.00 constitutes several) that included the $89.00 pick up/delivery fee.  Even someone with a limited education would have enough common sense to not put $557.00 into a mower that cost $1,000.00 fifteen years ago.  With your 30+ years in the business you had to have known this was unacceptable by any standards.  You stated once in shop repairs became more than originally appeared .....that is when you should have contacted me before moving forward with repairs, you did not do so. I never asked the gentleman who picked up my mower to "fix" hood but to simply put back in place "as is".  I stated it was broken and did not want it repaired.  I saw no point in putting it back together when your shop would have to take apart again to fix muffler pipe.  Oil change was stated to be free except for cost of oil....but $20.00 for oil???     When you state that you actually did call with estimate that was deceptively false.  What actually happened was you called with all repairs COMPLETED and my total cost which I immediately responded negatively to. The estimate that you are referring to was at that time and conversation for a new drive belt which was going to be an additional $140.00....outrageous.  On original repair statement it clearly states to fix bent pipe, sharpen blades and do oil change.  Anything beyond that or in addition to I should have consulted BEFORE moving forward. In my opinion you are not meeting me more than half way.  Simple math.  I am willing to settle this claim with an adjustment  to $225.00 plus tax. Still less than half way.  This brings my total to over $300.00 with PU/Del.  More than I intended to put into this old mower...had I been given that opportunity.Regards,[redacted]
