Avenue is currently offering customers who make their purchase with a credit card the opportunity to try three selected magazines risk-free for three months (90 days). After the first three risk-free months, unless the customer calls the toll-free customer service number to cancel, the magazines selected will continue for a full year for a total of fifteen months and the credit card used to initiate the offer will be charged for the subscription(s). If during the three-month trial the customer does not want to continue to receive magazines, they may call to cancel and the issues will immediately stop and they will not be charged. The customer may also cancel their subscription within 60 days following the trial period for a full refund. After this time, the customer will receive a refund for any unserved issues based on their total term of service, which includes the risk-free issues.
At the time of purchase our customers will be required to sign not only the sales slip for the charge purchase but also a sales slip acknowledging the magazine selections and the terms of the offer. Our customers are provided a copy of the verbiage for what they signed on their sales receipt. The verbiage has been provided below and a copy of the receipt accompanies our response.
“Yes, send my selections for 3 months risk-free with automatic renewal. I authorize Avenue to send my credit card to Magazine Rewards Center to charge my card the initial term and each year thereafter at the then current rate until I cancel, at anytime. Magazine Subscription ordering and cancellations handled through Magazine Rewards Center. Please contact ([redacted] for all subscription inquiries.”
We have addressed our store’s offer to cancel the magazines on [redacted] behalf. This is not a service that we offer as a company and consider this an isolated situation which has ceased. Confirmation has been received from the magazine rewards center that on 05/20/2014 [redacted] subscriptions have been cancelled and fully refunded.
