Review: In 2011 Essence of Stone remodeled our kitchen. Total bill was $13,000.00. Work included tile backsplash, granite counter tops, and tile floor ($8000.00 was the flooring cost) About 1 year later the floor started to lift. We called Essence of Stone and they sent out a repair man who told us that the floor was laid improperly. He repaired 4 tiles and said that we would not have anymore trouble. Several weeks later more tiles started lifting. Again, we called and they sent out another repair man who also told us the floor was installed improperly. He also told us he would talk to his manager about this and that we would recieve a phone call. Several weeks went by and we heard nothing. Since then we have 1 tile that completely lifted and we had to remove and cover with a carpet. We made many, many phone calls. One call to the owner promised we would get a visit. We recieved no visit or phone call. We had a flooring expert come over and look at our floor he also said the floor was installed wrong. After that, we had a home inspector look at the floor ( Our home is for sale, we had it pre-inspected) he verified the same thing. Both inspectors said the entire floor needs to be removed and be reinstalled due to improper thinset. We have asked very simply to have someone from Essence of Stone come to our house and look at our floor. They can't even do that. Essence of Stone is claiming that a nearby Quarry is the blame for our floor. We have a DEP inspection report that says the blasting is not severe enough to effect our house. The DEP inspector also stated that our floor tiles would crack and not lift if it was indeed the blasting causing the problems. (Again, the blasting is not the problem). We have tried every avenue to settle this problem. If this does not yield any results we will hire an independent flooring inspector an we will take this to court.Desired Settlement: We want a full refund on the floor only to get it removed and reinstalled properly.
