Epic Data Recovery

Review: I recently began experiencing problems with my computer, and shortly after discovered that it was an issue with the hard drive, and all my data (documents, music, pictures, etc.) would be gone unless the hard drive was repaired. So I found Epic Data Recovery Labs in New York. [redacted] (the operator of the business) claimed that the outlook was good for my data recovery case, so I paid the deposit. Shortly after, he claimed that he needed to order "parts" from Amazon - which cost almost $400. I obliged, and shortly thereafter, he claimed that he was having no success, despite the fact that he claimed a 100% success rate of data recovery. He went on to explain that a "secret department" of the hard drive's manufacturer, which was located in Russia, had the capability of recovering my data. That was when I decided that I had enough, and wanted my hardware returned to me. It became apparent to me that he really did not make any progress on my case, and simply scammed me out of my money. In addition, many reviews on Yelp.com were hidden at the request of [redacted]; all of which claimed similar situations to mine. He claimed his customers who were dissatisfied were either "competitors" or individuals with various mental disorders, and that he would be "contacting the police" because people were not satisfied with his business.Desired Settlement: As a result of this case, I have spend close to $1000 - all of which went directly to the business. I request $1000 plus $1000 for his fraudulent promises and phony contracts, and accusing me of slandering his business. $2000 total.
