EPLS-Environmental Pest & Lawn Services Reviews (%countItem)

Has exceeded our expectations!! Our lawn was diseased and EPLS has been the only company to treat our lawn and keep it disease free. The other companies told us lawns are impossible to keep healthy year-round in Florida. Not so, thanks to EPLS. Highly recommended and thank you

EPLS-Environmental Pest & Lawn Services Response • Jun 18, 2020

Thank you so much for the great review! We surely appreciate your business!!

They ruined my front lawn.
I paid them for soil test. After applications from March 2017 to September 2017 my front lawn is wasting away to nothing. I had the best front lawn on the street before. Now they want more money for another soil test. My neighbors lawn which touches mine is fine. I think they killed it with what they put down. I asked them what they would do about it and they said they would do nothing. I cancelled the service today.

Desired Outcome

Front lawn replacement.

EPLS has provided Lawn Care services for Mr. from March through August of 2017. Mr. primary concern on the onset of our services was the decline of the lawn in localized areas. At the time, Mr. stated that the decline was progressive and not responding to treatments by other professional applicators. Since others have tried to remedy the situation and were unsuccessful, we collected a soil nutrient analysis sample and a nematode assay sample to ascertain the limiting factors in the declining areas. We are not including the laboratory results forms here as they contain Mr. address and phone number. The analyses results specified nutrient deficiencies in Potassium, Sulfur, Boron, and Manganese, as well as two species of plant-parasitic nematodes with populations capable of causing moderate decline in the grass. We presented our treatment plan based on visual and laboratory analyses, which included application of both granular and liquid-based fertilizers to improve the nutrient deficiency problems, and an application of a product for the management of nematodes. Due to the significant expense associated with the application of the nematode management treatment ($162.00), Mr. opted to decline the treatment at the time and see how the grass responds. We explained that as rainfall events and temperatures increase through summer, nematode-induced injury to the grass may become an issue, and that the product of choice for nematode management at the time (Nortica) is best applied in Spring and Fall. We agreed to move forward with the service.

Through Spring and early Summer, we primarily communicated with *** - Mr. mother. She was thrilled with our services and continuously praised our professionalism and the results attained through our services. She even recommended our services to her neighbors.

Then, in early July, the front lawn began to decline. EPLS responded quickly to ***'s phone calls regarding the decline in the grass. We applied a high-end, broad-spectrum fungicide (Propiconazole) as the decline symptoms were consistent with Take-All Root Rot disease. The decline continued despite the treatment, so we came back and applied a different broad-spectrum fungicide combination product (Azoxystrobin, Propiconazole). Although our service agreement clearly states that "extra charges may apply for the application of certain systemic fungicides...", we did not charge for the application of these products.

On September 15, *** called to schedule another extra visit to the property. Upon arriving at the site, she accused us of ruining the lawn through a mis-application of products. We explained that mis-application of products results in very rapid decline (over a 1-2 day period) and not a progressive decline over two and a half months. We explained that we have tried everything to resolve the decline without success, and will need to collect a pathology sample to ascertain the cause of the decline. We also explained that the decline could be a combination of fungal disease and nematode activity. *** wanted to hear none of it, and adamantly accused us of ruining her front lawn. She called Mr., who said that he is not paying for anything else, and cancelled our services effective immediately. *** assured us that she will tell everyone about how we ruined her front lawn.

In summary, Mr. lawn presented some unusual problems that required further involvement in the form of laboratory testing to ascertain the initial problems presented. The lawn improved nicely, but additional problems developed later in the year, and we did our best to resolve them. Unfortunately not every lawn can be improved easily, as in the case of this one. Not every problem has a clear-cut and explainable solution, and that does not imply any wrongdoing on the part of either party.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We never had issues with the front lawn only the front and back of the side lawn. I had one of the best front lawns around. My front lawn is very small. I paid them $100.00 for a soil test and the side lawn did improve after their treatments. The front lawn did have a rapid decline after one of their treatments (over a one to two day period) not a progressive decline. When he came to the house he admitted they ruined the lawn and they couldn't get it to come back. Then they wanted me to pay for another soil test so I cancelled the service.

Just put me down as a very unsatisfied customer since they won't take any responsibility. They have said the opposite here to what they have in person so I give up. My mother is a very honest church going senior citizen and does not lie.

EPLS-Environmental Pest & Lawn Services Response

The decline in the front lawn started in early July, and noted at the time of regular service on July 5, 2017. The decline continued despite our applications of fungicides as described in the previous response. EPLS went above and beyond the regular service schedule to encourage recovery of the lawn. At no time did anyone at EPLS admit or suggest otherwise that EPLS "ruined the lawn" as Mr. states - that is absolutely false! As we explained in our previous response to Mr. complaint - sometimes turf decline is attributed to factors that are not manageable by routine services. In such cases additional factors must be considered, especially when additional efforts to encourage recovery were unsuccessful. Mr. chose to dispute our explanations of the situation and cancel the service. We wish him the best of luck with his next service provider.
