Worst Experience in over 35 years of buying cars. If I could give ZERO stars I would! I should have listened to all the negative reviews online about this dealer. They are extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I paid cash for a car there and they promised they would not run a hard credit inquiry on me but they did anyway. Then they refused to remove the hard inquiry to make me a happy customer. They offer low bait prices to get you there, then add on thousands of dollars in the end. Run the other way!

I'm on hold for 13 minutes while typing this review!!! My Temp/paper plate expired today!!! Yesterday they said they mailed it a day before. When I called right now the guy says they might have them in the office. So I'm on hold waiting still...I they were in the office you would think they would call and say, hey your temp plate expires today and we have your new one here...Nope nothing!!!

Pros:

Non-pushy sales people. Generally good price.

Cons:

Horrid customer service. Based on a hundred of reviews that I have read, DO NOT EVER buy cars from them if you can't pay in cash. Financing one car from another is tricky in general, and these guys make it even harder.

even if you CAN pay in cash, I have seen nearly half a dozen cases where tag does't arrive before a temp one expires. You ended up being stressed out driving a car with an expired tag, which could cost you a ticket.

Summary:

Measure those cons up against 1-2K that you ended up saving.

Equity auto center has the worst customer service. I’m a first time buyer, I bought a car from them in August 2019 and they explained to me the title will be sent with in 45 days from the purchase of the vehicle. It’s now almost the beginning of October 2019. It’s been about 60 days since, I’ve called several times to get in touch with them, they are rude and unhelpful. I called for three weeks straight trying to get information sent to the DMV for the vehicle registration. I was told by equity auto center I will be getting a call back from their business department everyday I called. I never got a call back, I called during their business hours and they put me on hold for 20 minutes. They didn’t check in with me, instead they decided to hang up. I had to call back the next day. Their customer service was absolutely horrific. They didn’t follow their policy and procedure on their side sending the registration with the 45 days. In conclusion I was treated disrespectfully and I would never suggest to go to them. I really hope they change their attitude towards their customers and follow their procedures properly.

Went and purchased a car at their Bell Road location on 5/16/2019. Everyone seemed nice. I was pre-approved through my bank and let them know that. They told me I need to fill out their credit application and it had a back up on it stating if I didn't pay for the car in 3 business days , their auto loan will apply. I thought no problem since I have my pre-approval from the bank. Took all my paper work to the bank and all they needed was a copy of the title from the Equity Auto Center. I called Fernando who stated he could get that to them the next day. Next day nothing. Over the next few days bank called him and several times he stated he would send it over. I called and he stated he would send it over. He kept lying to me and to the bank. He had no intentions of sending anything to the bank. Most of the calls you sit on hold for 10 to 15 minutes to talk to anyone, or you have to call and call just to get someone to pick up the phone. After my 3 business days was up and their loan kicked in with a 12% interest Rate, he stated to me he didn't have to do anything to help me get my loan done. This is how they make their money and he was never going to send a copy of that title to the bank because he didn't have to. Now I am waiting for my plates and registration so the bank can refinance and get me out of their scam loan. I am 3 weeks in and I have received no tag/plate or registration.

Buyer beware. The online prices do not show you the 400.00 document process fees and their 699.00 window tint fees . they will not remove the tint fees. I put 2000.00 down and they still screwed me over. I am unsure what I can do if they dont turn the title over to AZ State and register it in my name. But I will find out as my Temp Plate expires soon. I do not even know how to tell if they sent anything to AZ.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!! They may have great deals. Put unless you finance with them, they will do everything they can do not help you complete your loan elsewhere with a better fiance rate ..

Fernando is a lair and will act like he will do anything he can to help you complete your loan and as soon as you sign, he refuses to do anything but help them make more money.

I feel like this place should have a Scam Alert on it. I do not know how they can get away with this?

I would not buy from these people. When I went in to buy a vehicle from them, I had financing from my bank. I went to the finance office with Alberto to do paperwork. He proceeded to hand me a contract for financing stating that I had 72 hours to bring a check to him from my financial institution. The contract I signed would be discarded. I ask him if that included weekends in the 72 hours. I bought it on the 26 of April which was a Friday. He told me that it did not include the weekend. My bank gave them a check on the 30th of April. I got an invoice in the mail from the contract that I signed and was told would be dismissed if I handed in the check in 72 hours. The dealership did not cancel the contract and actually handed it into the the bank on the 26. I went in to get someone to cancel the contract and they proceeded to tell me that they only could get in touch with the finance department through email. So the other person, Fernando, sent an email to the supposed finance department they turned in my contract to to have it canceled. They was no name on the email so who knows where it actually went to. I tried calling to check on the status and the people who were there always said whoever I wanted to talk to was busy. No one has ever gotten back to me. I still have two loans open in my name for a vehicle I bought from them. It is ruining my credit. The only way to drop the loan they opened for me is for them to close it. CRB Auto powered b y Mechanics Bank informed me of this. By the way, they would not give me any information of when they paid Equity Auto Center. If they did, Equity Auto Center would have been paid twice for one vehicle. If they didn't get paid, I am the victim of contract Fraud.

They don't deserve one star!
I traded my car at the beginning of January and its now March and they have yet to pay off my trade in. I have been making two car payment since then. Every time we call we are told to speak to finances and the only person there able to help us is always in a meeting or with a customer. We ask for a call back and no one calls us. One time a representative told us that they sent our bank the paperwork only to find out that it was a straight up lie. They give you the run around and lie to you. They are scammers...DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

I went in 10/08/2018 to cancel my gap insurance and was told it would take 6-8weeks to receive a check. I called at the 6 week mark to check in on the status which is what the finance guy Fernando told me to do. I was then told it was still pending and to call in a few more weeks so I called again and was told the check was mailed out and should expect it to arrive within 3 days. Two weeks pass and no check so I called and got the manager this time she didn’t say her name but told me that I wasn’t at the 8 week mark yet and my check was never mailed out. She said I had to wait till December 13 because she only cuts checks Friday’s and that would be my 8 week mark. I called the 13th and Fernando didn’t know what I was talking about he said my check was still at the store and he couldn’t get a hold of his manager. Said he would call in two hours which he didn’t so I again call him to ask what’s going on and now they don’t pick up when I finally get through I was put on hold for ten minutes. I had to hang up because I had to go to work. Today 12/15/18 I called and was told the manager was on the phone with a customer so I called back 45 minutes later and was told she called today off. I keep getting the run around about my check and apparently I’m not the only one as I read in the reviews

I had a great experience, process was fast, had some negative equity on my trade in (*** optima) and was able to hide that in the new car I bought (*** genesis) it was the best deal compaired to the other dealers I had went to and they paid off my trade quick so I’m happy- thanks Equity and I appreciate your good customer service it was a breath of fresh air.

My family and I purchased my wife’s 2016 ***, our daughter’s 2014 *** and my father in laws 2016 ***. As you can see we love driving ***. We have continued to make our vehicle purchases here because of the great value and service we have received from Equity. We saved several thousands of dollars compared to other similar used vehicles. We would like to thank them and would refer the to anyone looking for a good deal on a used vehicle.

My family and I have bought 4 cars with Equity Auto and have had a 5 star experience every time. We are very thankful and highly recommend !! Thank you all for great service and great cars. Will see you again I’m sure. :)

After being at this dealership earlier in the day, we called back to see if the company could offer a better price. The representative put us on hold for several minutes to speak with a manager, and came back on the line and stated the price would be $12,200. We agreed, and drove across town to sign the paperwork. As we pulled up, someone pulled our car out to the front of the lot. He then proceeded to act like he had no idea about the phone call, or the price. He then told us that we were told that price just to get us to come in, and that the price was $13,000. This is an absolute scam.

It seems like the business is still not taking responsibility for their business practices, and instead blamed the customer. If the business is not willing to honor pricing given over the phone, they should instruct their employees not to give pricing over the phone (not blame the customer). We did already test drive and inspect the car earlier in the day.

Buyers Beware

I traded in my car and I called numerous times trying to get the check for my trade in and they told me it would be up too 45 days so I was paying for two cars for almost 2 months and I had to threaten them with a lawyer to get my check they are definitely scammers this is a nightmare that I wanted to avoid but it was my fault and I should have done my research don't do it to yourself and the 700 dollars for window tinting is b.s save yourself the stress and go elsewhere

Bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra - two weeks later found out it had a bent lower control arm and was sold to me this way. They won't own up to their mistake so I'm extremely unlikely to ever come here again for any car purchase.

Very, very poor customer service. Highly suggest to AVOID this place!

I bought a car from equity auto on 01/05/18. I did not receive the plate from them for more than 2 months after the purchase date, they didn't pay off my trade in car for 2 months. I wish I didn't buy from them, they are horrible in their business practices, this place is run by shady people. Do not do business with this place.
Found out that they never make any changes of ownership to me or registered my new car with ADOT, because it needs a smog test done before sold. But no one from the dealer bother to call me to let me know or an apology for their misshap. This dealer should not be in business, as they will continue to scam others as I suspect that it's their normal business practices. Shame on them.

I bought a car here on 11/26/2017, sales part was overall good. The problem came last week when my temporary plates expired mind you I got this car back in November. My plates expired on 01/08/2018 it is now 01/13/2018 and these people have me driving with expired plates and do not care as I have gone to the dealership about 3 times already and forgot how many times I have called them. I went to the dealership the day before they expired I was told by a salesman that my plates had already been sent out and due to the holidays that was why I had not gotten them. I let him know I needed to drive my car the next day as it is my only source of transportation, and let him know I drive my 1 year old in there as well and did not want to get stopped. He assured me that If I went home and the plates were not there I could go in the next day and they would give me new ones. As I thought plates were not there went in the next day after work, having been driving my car all day without plates already. I went in, another car sales man told me he spoke to his manager and said that they would not be able to give me new ones because my other plates has already been sent out. Assured me that I would not get stopped because the plates were on their way. Asked him more then twice if he was sure and there was anything else they could do,said no. Also asked him why the day before they had lied and gave me wrong information saying they would give me new ones even when I called them they said to come in for new ones. Still he advised me that I would not get stopped that I had five days until I could actually get stopped by the cops. Asked him when they sent my plates out this was on 01/09/2018 he said they sent him out two days before that on 01/07/2018 this is ridiculous!!! How are you going to barely be sending my plates out two days before they are expired isn't it obvious they will not arrive before my other plates expired?! and more ridiculous that they are not willing to help you!

Yes I know you sent the plates. It’s obvious. The point is that what you do to your customers is not right. You sent my plates the same day I went to ask for them which was the day before they expired. Once again ridicoulous. My point is that you should get better management and organize your buisness as needed. What you do is not acceptable. So sending in plates the day before they expire is not resolving this matter. Making you’re customers be without plates for 12 days is just wrong.

First of all the car sold them was not in as good condition as the dealer claim
Had a lot of problems with from recent accident that dealer failed to notify me at the dealership it was only after the fact when I bought the car that I was showed the carfax additionally I don’t consent to having a service contract/warranty on my car but dealer added it without my request and now I’m stuck with a service contract that’s worth 2500 that doesn’t even cover anything at all furthermore was forced to pay for window tint warranty even though I said over and over agian I didn’t want it without accepting that warranty the car wouldn’t have been sold to me

Mr. Figueroa purchased a warranty with the purchase of his vehicle. Warranties are a cancelable item at customer’s request.

The Cancelation proses is as follows. Customers can ask to speak with a finance manager at Equity Auto Center from 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday. Warranties are pro-rated and refunds are calculated by how many miles remain that have not been used. Customer must provide the vehicle so that a finance manager can verify the miles on the vehicle at time of cancellation. Refunds can take from 6 to 8 weeks before customers can see a credit with their lenders if vehicle has a loan, or same amount of time for the dealer to issue a refund check to the customer if vehicle is paid in full.

Please let us know if there is any further information you may need. Equity Auto Center consider this matter to be resolved. Thank you.

I am satisfied that I could refund the car warranty but I also want the “useless” and forced upon me car tint warranty refunded and want to be given compensation for the seat belts the front passenger air bag and broken window those are just a few things that were wrong with the car that they failed to disclose to me During signing consequently after I found out bout these issues I repeatedly emailed them about these issues to no response

At time of purchase Mr. Figueroa decided to buy the vehicle at agreed upon price and equipment. All items were disclosed to him at that time. At no time did Equity Auto Center force Mr. Figueroa to purchase the Vehicle with the tint or a warranty. Mr. Figueroa signed all the required docs needed to possess the sale and all items were listed on purchase order separately.

When purchasing a vehicle some items are cancelable and some are not. The warranty is a cancelable item but the widow tint is not a cancelable item, and that was disclosed to him at time of sale. Mr. Figueroa has already been given instructions on canceling how to cancel the warranty.
