I would rate Meridian Mayflower as F-. I wonder if they have changed management since the time that other customers rated them highly. The service they gave us was filled with lies, false promises, failure to even return phone calls and manipulative actions.
We met with their estimator and discussed options. We selected one pf the options - that our furniture etc put into one of their moving containers, such that our furniture would not be put on a big truck with other customersâ items. The moving container would also mean that our goods would not be off-loaded and then reloaded onto some other truck, which could give another opportunity for damage. This option also had the benefit of having a firm date for delivery, instead of a two-week window of possible delivery times. We agreed upon this option and signed a contract for this.
On the morning when Meridian Mayflower was supposed to show up with the moving container, they showed up instead with a moving truck. We told the driver that this was NOT what we had agreed upon. He said that HE knew that our furniture would not fit in a container, although the estimator said that it would fit easily. After moving some of our furniture into the yard, some of it on the curb where it looked like trash, the driver left and said he would be back that same morning with the container. He did not. We heard various stories that morning, but then finally found out that they did not even have a container available in Tucson.
Then we were told that they had another move which would fit into their schedule perfectly. We were moving from Arizona to Oregon and the other customer was moving from Las Vegas to Washington State. We said that we would still prefer to have our goods in our own container and could wait until the next week to do that. We were told no, no, there wouldnât be a container next week or maybe not any time â that what we needed to agree to was to have our goods transported to Oregon WITH the goods going to Washington State that this really was the ONLY option. Such manipulation.
A couple of days later Mayflower showed up with a different moving truck and loaded our goods. We were told that it would be delivered sometime between the 2nd and the 11th of the month. The driver gave us his cell phone number and said we could call him and he would also call us to narrow down the day of the actual delivery. We did call him, but he never answered his phone, nor did he return our calls. Finally he called and told us that he would deliver âright on scheduleâ on the 12th of the month. His excuses were about phone trouble, weather trouble. We reminded him and the Tucson office that this was beyond the window of delivery days, and that we were sleeping on the floor at our new house in Oregon. The woman who works in their Tucson office seemed to be the only reliable employee and we called and asked her what happens if they do not deliver within the schedule, and she told us that we could request to be reimbursed at $100 for each day late. All of a sudden, they could deliver on the morning of the 11th. When they did not show up, we called the driver on his cell phone, he said that he was at a motel near us and would be there within the hour. Hours later, they did show up.
Erb's was wonderful to work with. The craftsmanship in our fireplace mantel was of such high quality and we could not have been more pleased. it is a joy to work with those who take such pride in their work.
We also purchased fireplace tools that were hand made by a local blacksmith and are unlike any that can be found! They even made custom handles for the doors with matching detail to the tools. They are beautiful and so strong!
I cannot recommend them highly enough! They were a pleasure to do business with!
Worse moving experience ever! My things were in a warehouse for 3 weeks before even being sent. Some arrived broken or not at all.
