My wife and I both went in for the same dental procedure which was just a general teeth cleaning. I was charged $125 for that procedure, whereas my wife was charged $50, again for the same procedure. The procedure was billed as prophylaxis, which is cleaning the plaque off of your teeth. I paid the bill prior to looking at the statement because I was trying to help my wife get our two children into the car. However, after I had loaded the children into the car I immediately looked at my bill because I believed a mistake may have been made. I then went back into the dental office and asked the receptionist if I had been billed the proper amount. She then replied "I billed what he told me to bill." I then asked to speak with the dentist. Dr.Kapustka basically told me that my teeth were in much worse shape than my wife's teeth, when in reality he worked on her teeth for about 10 minutes and only worked on mine for about 15 minutes. I do not have dental insurance and feel that I have no advocate to help me with this bill that I feel is completely unfair.
