Hello, This email is in response to the complaint by [redacted] Ref#[redacted] In response to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint about our fees: we file them every year with the Delaware State Police as all Delaware Non Consensual Towers are required to do. Our business model is very different...
as we act more as a first responder than a for-hire tow service. We are required to have a driver on call 24/7/365 and cannot do private calls when we are required to be on standby for the police. I was not present for the comment about Walmart, I believe the employee was attempting an analogy but fell flat and I apologize if it was taken the wrong way. I was not present for that part of the conversation. The option we offered to Mr. [redacted] to exchange his title for tow is one that we openly offer to customers whose vehicle is towed in and not covered by insurance. In exchange for the towing and storage fees we will have the customer sign the title over to us and give them a receipt stating the charges have been satisfied. Sometimes it helps the customer because they may not have the funds to repair the vehicle and it would not make financial sense to retrieve the vehicle and sell elsewhere. To the general public, we buy cars ranging from $50 to $100 for scrap value. By the time we transfer it to a recycler, there is little profit to be seen from tow ins. We do it to offer our tow in customers options and always let people know it is just that: an option. [redacted] Fred Drake Automotive 4195 Dupont Pkwy Townsend, DE 19734 [redacted]
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I would like to understand how a 500 dollar tow service is explained to the customer in exchange for their car. I do not believe this is fair to anyone, where either you have a 500 bill or no car...they make you budge the cat is not reliable and give you a hefty bill so you make a hard decision and it's a lose, lose for the customer. They take advantage of the customer and either take money or make money after forcing the customer to hand over the car. I feel I was taken advantaged of in this case. I do not believe it is at all fair that they have a choice to make these outrageous claims to charge someone without the customer knowing how much they will be responsible for. Something is wrong here, if this business is allowed to take advantag if people in this manner. I don't believe their response helps anyone, but again themselves. I drove my car back, after having to pay a large bill over 500 for 1 day under 20 miles away from the pick up. It took the tow driver, under 5 minutes to put the car on the lift. How is that even close to 500 bill? How does that benefit the customer who didn't have a choice in the tow company? Something is wrong here.
Regards,
