Escambia River Electric Cooperative

EREC is a very poorly run business. We have had nothing but issues with them. We were having power surges in our home frequently and contacted them to see what was wrong. They kept telling us that our house wasn't grounded correctly, even though it had been suggested to us to have our power company check the transformer. After paying quite a bit to have someone come ground the house again the transformer blew and fried all of our electronics. When we questioned the power company on their neglect and reimbursing us for our electronics they told us oh well. When I suggested we take them to court we were literally told "Go ahead, we have more money and our lawyers will draw it out in court until you can't afford it anymore." They also charged us for yard security lights that we had disconnected and one of the poles were actually removed entirely from the yard. When I called to question the charges the receptionist insisted that the charges were correct and that their people would not make a mistake like that. She then became very hostile when I requested that their "person" come back out to the house to inspect it again but only when I was home. She became defensive saying that they aren't liars or untrustworthy. When I finally told her that one of the pole wasn't in the yard anymore she finally went back in the account notes and verified that the lights had been disconnected and begrudgingly issued a refund. In conclusion, they have a very "mob" mentality when it comes to running a business and they do not care one bit about their customers. I have spoken with others who have no choice but to use them and they have had very similar experiences.
