Ms. [redacted] booked the 4 bedrooms in the Inn in July of 2015, not the entire Inn.  She visited with [redacted], who was the innkeeper at that time.  The rooms were for her daughter, the daughter’s new husband and her best friends.  In April of 2016, 9 months later, the innkeeper was...

informed, in an informal email, of a small after party for wedding guests.  The innkeeper felt that at 11PM, after the reception, it would be a small gathering of the people who were staying at the Inn.  The new innkeeper familiarizing herself with the upcoming reservations contacted Ms. [redacted] on the 8th of August.  During their conversation the after party was mentioned.  There was no record with the reservation of this party so the new innkeeper informed Ms. [redacted] that she would have to find out if it was possible to have this party at the Inn.  She needed to contact the insurance company and needed to know about how many people were being expected.  Ms. [redacted] emailed a response that stated "My daughter is guessing about 40 people, but there isn't any formal invitation to the after party so there's no real way of knowing." After speaking to the insurance company and the fire marshal, the innkeeper informed Ms. [redacted] that the inn could not accommodate the group for the party.  Ms. [redacted] wasn’t happy and said she would probably cancel the reservations.  The innkeeper felt that in the best interest of the inn she should cancel the reservations and refund the deposits to the effected parties.  There were still 2 full months to find a more appropriate venue and the innkeeper called around the area and there were many places with just what was required for the [redacted] party.  The guests were all notified immediately and the 2 people, Ms. [redacted] being one of them, who had put deposits down, were issued checks.  The checks were then mailed out immediately. We regret that this situation arose and have tried to settle it to the best of our ability.

Please add your rejection comments below. April 2016 is NOT the first time the Inn was made aware of the after party - I met w/their representative in July 2015 & my daughter & her fiancé also met with her (can't remember the date, but it was probably late summer 2015) - the innkeeper was told then of the small after party, starting about 10:15PM & we were told that would NOT be a problem. I merely confirmed in writing (via email) in April 2016 that the Inn was still aware of our plans & still did not receive ANY objection. I booked EVERY room in the Inn for the night of this party. I have now booked an alternate place for the after party, but it is not the type of venue/atmosphere the bride & groom wanted & I booked rooms for her friends that were canceled by their new innkeeper (after I told her NOT to cancel them until she heard from me) at a higher cost. The after party & rooms now are costing me more money & are not even what the bridal couple wanted, but after calling many places in the area I was not able to find suitable/comparable place for the party.
