However, when I got the receipt out she had taken the pants and left. I didn't understand why she took the pants with her if they were old or why didn't she bring her other pants I hemmed as well. Also, how she could come in and Say I want my money back without me showing her what could have happened. I wanted to resolve this issue because I have it on camera the day her and her family came in. It shows that my husband tagged the pants right away and put it on the side. However, when I received the letter on 9/14/15, me, my husband, and an employee called her several times and left messages. She never returned my calls but I wanted to resolve this issue with her. Review: I brought a [redacted] leather jacket for my son on Dec.15,2013. The first time he wore it was December 31,2014. he had a rough year, loosing a finger, and I wanted to buy something special for him. The first time he wore it was Christmas Eve. The sleeves were dirty so I took it to Essex Cleaners in the early part of March.. The coat was a beautiful soft brown, lambskin leather. The sleeves were dirty so I took it to be cleaned. I then received a call from Essex stating the leather company wanted to let me know it might be a little shinier after cleaning, and not as soft. My son has the same jacket in black which I have had cleaned before at [redacted] cleaners on [redacted] line and it came out perfect!

I told them to clean the leather jacket. and on 4/4/14 I went to pick it up. It was several shades darker, completely sticky, so much so that the sleeve was sticking to the chest. Then I looked at the right upper chest and there were several areas of leather that were actually missing; Several large areas .I was shocked! I showed it to Essex cleaners employees and staff and they couldn't believe it either. I told them I did not blame them because I realize they sent it out to a leather company. I told them the leather company had ruined the jacket and I wanted it replaced. they said they would show it to the Leather co on Monday, 4/7/14. [redacted] Cleaners. . Ticket # was [redacted]. They gave me the tel no. ###-###-#### to speak to [redacted]. . I told Essex cleaners I did not want it repaired, I wanted the jacket back. I told [redacted] Cleaners the same thing. ie., not to repair the jacket. I never received any response or call back for [redacted] Cleaners after calling them twice. I told the gentleman I spoke with I would then be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. I told him to send the jacket back to Essex cleaners. I said if they couldn't clean it, they certainly couldn't repair it.

I went to Essex cleaners after work to pick up the jacket. that they were to obtain for me unrepaired. I pick it up and the leather company had tried unsuccessfully to repair it. It is quite obvious that it is a repair. I tell them it is unacceptable to me, and instead of helping me that are screaming at me and telling me I had to pay for it or I could not retrieve the coat, The female continued screaming at me the entire time I was there, so much so that I told her I would be reporting their business to the Revdex.com also. They were rude and unhelpful to me.Desired Settlement: I have obtained my bill from my [redacted] Credit card, and I would like the replacement value of this coat. I have not even told my son, because he lost a finger this year, and was out of work. He will be very upset .I bought it on sale at $407.98 bought December 15 at [redacted] in [redacted].

Also, I was made to pay $45 for the jacket before I could take it off the premises.

Response:

May 9,2014Dear Sirs:I received your letter dated Monday, April 28,2014 (post marked April 29th) on Wednesday, April 30th. Here is my response. The customer, [redacted], brought the lambskin leather jacket to my company, Essex Cleaners, on Saturday, March 1, 2014 to be cleaned. We told the customer that we send leather garments to another company, [redacted] ’s Cleaners, in [redacted], NJ to be cleaned. On Monday, March 3, [redacted]’s came to our business to pick-up the leather jacket. Upon inspection of the customer’s jacket, [redacted]’s noticed that the front of the jacket and both sleeves were stained and that the jacket was faded. [redacted]'s declined to take the jacket with them that day because of the stained and faded condition of the lambskin leather jacket. [redacted]'s told us that the customer must be notified about the stained and faded condition of the jacket and that the customer must give her approval before [redacted]’s would attempt to clean the jacket as there was no guarantee that the jacket could be successfully cleaned without possible harming the lambskin leather jacket in the process.Essex Cleaners called the customer on March 3 and explained the situation about [redacted]’s being unwilling to proceed with the cleaning unless the customer agreed to it and unless the customer understood that the cleaning might not be successful and may also harm the lambskin leather jacket in the process. This was explained to the customer and the customer gave her approval for [redacted]'s to pick-up the jacket on it’s next trip to our store and attempt to clean the jacket.[redacted]'s picked-up the leather jacket on Monday, March 10 and took it to their establishment in [redacted], NJ, where they attempted to clean it. They returned on March 17 with the jacket. The customer came in on April 4 to pick-up the jacket and was dissatisfied with the results. She said that on the right top of the jacket that spray came out. She requested that we try to clean it again. On April 7, [redacted]'s picked-up the jacket and took it back again to their cleaning establishment and tried to clean it once more. They returned on the following Monday, April 14. The customer was notified that the jacket was back from [redacted]'s, She came in to pick-up the jacket and was again dissatisfied with the results. She subsequently filed this complaint with the Revdex.com.It should be noted that the customer claims that the lambskin leather jacket was new. She also states that the first time her son wore the jacket was on December 31} 2014 and in the very next sentence she contradicts herself by stating that the first time her son wore the jacket was Christmas Eve. Both [redacted]’s Cleaners and Essex Cleaners inspected the lambskin leather jacket and, in our opinion, the jacket was not new. Mr. ** at [redacted]’s felt that because of the wear and tear of the leather jacket that it was three to five years old. The jacket appeared abused and very worn. In our experience, customers do not bring leather jackets to be cleaned so soon after purchase unless the jackets have been abused. In any event, [redacted]'s Cleaners, with the customer's consent, tried to clean the jacket and was unable to do so due to the poor condition of the lambskin leather jacket. Therefore, Essex Cleaners' position is that it is not responsible for replacing the jacket.Should yon have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Thank you.Very truly yours,
