This is specific to Essex management at Avant South Park in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday 9-16-15 I, as a resident of the building, called the front desk and asked to reserve the TV area on the roof as I would like to watch the USC football starting at 5pm. I was told that I could not reserve the area, because they did not take reservations. I even asked about paying for the reservation and was told that was not possible. I said ok I understand I cannot reserve, but do you know if the tv is working and if it would be available. I was told yes and it was first come first serve. So I dropped off my ID to reserve the remote yesterday around noon, /Not once during my initial phone call or when I picked up the remote was I told anything about the roof being reserved at 8pm I did not find out until 4:30pm (after using the same elevators multiple other times that day) a see a new posting for some part of the roof being reserved.

When a gentleman first came up to talk to me I told him exactly what I said in the above paragraph. He did not have any answer for me and I told him we would leave as soon as the game was over. I was frustrated and insistent because I felt I was being treated disrespectfully and that even though I am a tenant, these mysterious "others" who reserved were being treated as a priority. I feel I was mistreated in the way I provided information and then the way I was approached upstairs. If the gentleman has just been polite and apologized for what was clearly your management company's, fault I would of been much more inclined to oblige.

Then the gentleman returned to the roof hours later while a female with him,. This female approached me very rudely and she did not appear to be dressed as an avant or essex employee. So now I have a stranger yelling at me and then verbally threatened my female friend "to stop talking or she would hurt her." My friend in response said "did you just threaten to hit me?". While this was happened we cleared all of our things and proceeded to try to go downstairs when we were stopped again, threatening me that they would charge me with something if I did not clean up all the furniture. I said in response I though you wanted us out of here quickly and now you are asking us to stay behind.

This female was not only extremely rude, she physically threatened my friend. I have used the rooftop facilities on multiple other occasions and have never been treated so deplorably. Again, if they had let us leave of our own free will I would of cleaned up everything. I wipe down the grill, I windex the surfaces and I put all furniture back exactly where it was. I am a good tenant who stays quiet and is respectful to those around her. I expect to be treated the same, especially by a professional management company.

Then the next day on Sunday 9-20-15 I receive this email, further treating me with disrespect.

"I have received multiple complaints regarding you and your guests this weekend. It is my understanding, that you interrupted a rooftop party that was privately reserved, and refused to leave. In addition smoking in/on our property. Please keep in mind that this is a NO Smoking property and smoking is a violation of the city ordinance. It was also brought to my attention that you and/or your guests were talking in a profane manner to others not within your party. This type of activity/behavior does not coincide with terms in your signed lease agreement, and will not be tolerated.

I have been very disappointed by Essex's management of this building since they started. This has solidified my opinion.
