I am a current tenant at their Galloway complex in Pleasanton CA I moved in September 18, Parking has been unassigned, and first come first serveWe were sent a notice that to park near our building we will have to be $a month for limited space garage parking (which has been free since the building opened) or to park "close" to the building, $a month We are the only building in an building complex that is being charged to park near their units Other buildings have parking right outside their doors, and are not being charged This seems illegal to start parking prices mid-lease on tenants, especially when our leases include spot

I have lived in a building for multiple years that has recently been purchased by Essex. I honestly didn't have a ton of issues prior to the change. Not only did Essex's purchase of my building change things in the building but we also endured a lot of staff changes. Every person that made my community what it was has left. We are now down to two people who provide that feeling. On to the problem I have with my community besides the constant change in strong staff. I had an ongoing issue with a cleaning lady(had no idea who it was initially) who parked in the fire lane blocking my car in. I reported it several times and was advised to call the community security to tend to the issue. After multiple times of me sitting in my car hoping someone would come to move it, I finally called community security regarding the issue. Security decided to have the car towed. However, this didn't change anything as I pulled in one day and she was parked in the fire lane behind my car AGAIN! So I politely honked and gestured that I needed to park. She became irate and use profanity at me, took a picture of my car parked in my space and went to the office to complain. She called the one lady who's trusted among the residents who assured me her profanity and behavior was unacceptable. The office said she would not clean our building anymore. Not long after my storage in my parking space was broken into. The office staff said they didn't believe she had been responsible for it and I should make a police report and that was it.

My most recent complaint is regarding the way things have been handled with an issue with online rent pay. I had around a $600 credit on my online profile which I reported to the office that I felt it was a mistake that had been sitting there for days. I also had a pending charge I did NOT authorize and the office staff insisted I authorized it by accident. The way the online rent payment is set up you have to manually type the amount, check the box and also hit submit, NO WAY that was done on accident. I was also told that maybe someone took my identity. Which wouldn't make sense for someone to steal my identity and over pay my rent unless they were on the receiving end of the payment. I also incurred a fee because my bank stopped the unauthorized charge. I have requested to speak with Essex and I was refused contact information. I contacted Essex on my own and was called. I returned the call and never received a call back. I instead keep getting the new manager trying to contact me. I have requested that I do not speak to the new manager because when I spoke to him he was incredibly rude. I complained about the fee and he insinuated that the fee wasn't a lot of money. He also told me he didn't believe the fee would be waived. I did not appreciate his tone or a matter of fact attitude and no willingness to help. I explained to Essex in my voicemail that I did not want to associate with someone like that. In the voicemail from Essex I was told I would get a call back or the manager I requested NOT to speak with explain everything to me. It took several emails that was forwarded by his staff and my email stating he purposely chooses not to respond. I am not happy with Essex or the staff at this point. I'm incredibly turned off by how they handle the problems that affect tenants. For a problem of this size, I'm not sure I feel confident about them solving larger problems.
