Eugene C. Yate Insurance Reviews (2)

Review: I am currently paying bills for Eugene C. Yates Insurance for a car. My (2000) year model Honda Civic light brown car is insured by this insurance. Now, my daughter who is 17 recently scratched someone's car, the passenger side's door at my apartment's parking lot. My problem is my Insurance. They won't do anything! I pay for the monthly bills for this type of accident to happen and now that it happened, they won't help me fix the car that my daughter banged. It's okay if they won't fix my own car's problem at least they should help me with the other car that my daughter scratched. The car is the one which is insured. It's not like the car moved it's own accord without a human driving in it. No one was injured in that accident. The ACCIDENT happened at the apartment's parking lot.

I would like to settle this problem already without going to court. I can't afford to pay $4000 dollars to pay for a passenger's side door. I only work as a CNA and my daughter hasn't found a summer job as of yet. My wife doesn't have a permanent job and I was hoping that my Insurance would help me with this problem. I would like to remind them that my car is the one which is insured. I would like this settle as soon as possible if it can be helped.

Mr.[redacted],

Let me start off by saying that we appreciate your business. I will get directly to the point. You excluded your daughter as well as other members of your household from being covered on your automobile insurance policy. You were and still are given the oportunity to add them or exclude them from you policy. You chose to exclude them . You have not paid for them to be on you auto policy with Mercury,so you should not recieve any benefits or pay outs on claims because YOU excluded them from coverage. You signed the exclusion and a copy was given to you 2 times.I understand that the idea of having to pay out $4,000 for damage that your daughter caused from the accident does not make you happy.I am sorry for you, because of the situation that you and your daughter have created for your selves. The offer still stands, that anytime you wish to change a driver from being excluded to included on your policy please call us at the office and we will send the endorsement to the company, and a confirmation to you. Then Mercury will process it for you.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

As what I understand, my daughter is INCLUDED as a passenger, but not as a driver. Now, my point is who so ever driving the car is not my battle, but since I insured my car with liability and the mere fact that its scratches or damaged another vehicle in the parking lot therefore; I am entitled to pay that damage which occurred in that particular day thinking that I have a liability insurance. We are not claiming for any member of the family here, but we are claiming for the car that's been damaged. That's all for now that I can provide. I am claiming for the other car not my daughter's insurance or whoever's insurance. Mercury Insurance Company clearly said on the paper, quote "This limitation shall apply to any use or operation of a motor vehicle including the negligent entrustment of a motor vehicle to any designated person. However, the Company will defend the Named Insured when all of the following apply to such designated natural person:

1. He or She is a resident of the SAME household as the Name Insured."

Business' Final Response

You excluded your daughter from coverage. You admitted that your daughter caused the accident/damage. There is no coverage.
