Finally thinking we found the rust-free, well maintained car we wanted we traveled 320 mi in good faith, within days we realized we had been lied to.
9.25-1st convo, I asked Mike if any rust was on the car, because that would be a dealbreaker, in writing, he said 'no rust on this car..I'll put it on the lift for you to see'. He had undercoat put on which we saw 10.16. Car was squeezed between cars & we didn't see rust on each back 1/4 panel til home.Mike talks about under the car, I'm talking about exterior rust, which Mike only says
1.'that's a defect in that year car'
2.'it doesn't affect its performance'
3.'you're trying to turn a used car into a new car'
Rust, the 1stthingI asked about, if he had told me the truth we wouldn't be living this nightmare.

Mike told me the car was inspected in PA, when I asked for the insp he said there is none, the mechanic just putstheinfoin the computer & car either passes or fails. He knew from our 1st convo we must have a Maryland inspection, his answer was always "it will fly through".

1st MD insp 2nd MD insp
rear shocks blown&leaking $1350 $1431
rearview mirrorglass broken 363 411
tire bald inside&out 22" 230 275
rear broken bolts on manifold(both) 745
both tag lts out 40 n/c
left headlight out(hintensity) 311
power steering hoses leak (3) TOTAL$2728 726 TOTAL$3333

In my opinion, I don't think Mike believed the 1st, so we had a 2nd that he agreed to pay for if it failed, but even more issues were found. THIS CAR IS NOT LEGAL OR SAFE TO DRIVE.

Eugens, for the past 7-8 days, has told me they are getting prices for parts for them to do the work, they told me I would pay half for the parts! Truthfully, not only do I not trust them to do the work but I'm 75 & I'm not willing (&don't think I should have to)drive this car with so many problems for 160 mi all on I-95, fast trucks, it's frightening & dangerous to me.

Hi ***,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I am sorry to hear about the issues *** is having with her vehicle. From the beginning, we have been trying to help *** correct any issues that are preventing her vehicle from passing MD inspection. She refuses to bring her vehicle into our shop. She has 30 days from purchase to get the vehicle inspected and we have tried numerous times to have her bring the vehicle in so we can check these issues and repair anything that needs to be done so she can pass MD inspection at no cost to her. We have tried to schedule a time for her to bring the vehicle in so we can have all the parts delivered prior to her arrival so we can have the issues addressed right away and not keep her waiting. We understand that she is out of state but we need to review the issues at our service department and have them corrected in-house. Both of the estimates were different and we have no idea of actually knowing what is actually in need of repair until we review the vehicle.

She mentioned the following in one of her emails:

“I know you want to do the work at your shop, then we would have to bring the completed work back to the same shop in Ocean City to have them approve the work within 30 days (MD law). So, the option of taking the finished work to Elkton, MD for another inspection wouldn’t work because they might find other infractions, so we would need to bring the car back to the original shop to have it approved…& then if the work isn’t done to their satisfaction, the could still not approve it & then we start the cycle again of a 3rd trip to Philly,”
From my understanding of her statement, she does not want to let us do the repair because she is worried that our work will not be satisfactory and that they may find additional issues. We have been in business for almost 30 years and we stand behind our work. We offer a 12 month and 12,000 mile warranty on all service work performed at our shop. When and if she ever brings the vehicle in, we are going to go through the issues in need of repair with her before and after we complete the work so she has the peace of mind that it was completed. We will also provide her with a receipt of the work being completed. We do this with all of our service customers.

In regards to the rust and tire wear issues, I have enclosed a *** Condition Report from when we purchased the vehicle. On the report, you can see the tire tread of 6/32 on three tires and 10/32 on the other. We actually replaced the front two tires and the driver’s side rear still has 6/32. The minimum tire tread to pass MD inspection is 2/32. She should have both inspection shops show her the tread depth. The report also does an in-depth inspection on the paint. As you can see from the report, there is no mention of any rust on the body or frame of the vehicle. As she mentioned, we even put the car on the lift for her to check the vehicle for rust. We spent over three hours with her during the purchase to review the car, drive the car and do all the necessary paperwork. We want to do our best to answer any questions or concerns she may have about the car. She mentioned that this was not a well maintained car. I have attached a copy of the *** report that shows this vehicle was serviced regularly and it was a one owner car.

In closing, we are happy to perform all the repairs necessary for her vehicle to pass MD inspection. We have never mentioned that we will not do any of the repairs. The works needs to be verified and performed in-house. If she is not will to make the drive, we can get her in touch with a transportation company to have her arrange for her vehicle to be transported to and from our shop.

Let us know what else we can do to help?

Thank you,
Eugen & Mike

IA default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

Revdex.com: I understand that Eugen's does not do rust/paint work at their shop, that will be OK. I would like a written confirmation that Eugen's will do the agreed upon work on the vehicle in order for it to pass & receive a MD inspection report with the 12 month parts guarantee they provide on Monday, Jan 13, 2020 at their shop. I do not want there to be any mis-information on either of our parts about the completion of the work.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards
