To whom it may concern, *** was a patient of the practice before I started working at it and was dismissed by the previous dentist. He became a patient of the practice, again, in the time since I started working here. I started in June of 2011. He has been
rude to the staff for a number of years and they wanted me to dismiss him from the practice earlier. I dismissed him from the practice this past month. This whole incident started last year when we took a panoramic image of ***. We did not have a panoramic image and we needed it to get a full comprehensive diagnosis. After reviewing the panoramic, it was noted that teeth #30,had recurrent periapical infections associated with them. The teeth had previously been root canaled and crowned. But there was still an active infection. We do not retreat root canaled teeth, so we sent him to Dr*** *** to evaluate the teeth to see if they could be saved. Dr*** is an endodontist. They could not be saved and needed to be extracted, which was done at an oral surgeon. (*** turned Dr*** into the Missouri Dental Board for another incident at his office. This seems like a recurring trend for Mr***.) The patient wanted to replace the teeth that were missing with implants. This is an elective procedure, which means it would not be covered by his insurance. At a previous dental cleaning, we gave him a treatment plan showing how much everything would cost and also explained that insurance would not cover the implant or the 3D image needed to place the implant. *** signed the treatment plan showing that insurance would not cover the 3D image. He understood that his insurance would not pay for the 3D. It was $100, out of pocket. We also have signed documentation that he was aware of these charges In March Mr*** came in for a cleaning and we talked about what an implant involvedThe first step would be to take a 3D image of the area to determine if there was enough bone for me to place the implant, or if he would have to be referred to an oral surgeon. He came back at a different time for his 3D image. He knew it was $and his insurance would not cover it. It was determined that he did not have enough bone for me to place an implant at my office. He would still have to pay for the image. We have copies of all the signed treatment plans and notes that can be sent to you. I do not know how many other dentists he has threatened and turned into the Revdex.com or the Dental Board. But it needs to stop. He threatened to get his lawyers involved if we did not write off the price of the 3D image. I was not going to let him bully me into something that was not right. We provided a service.
