Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/07/28) */
I did make attempt to correct the problem even do the job is not longer under warranty, warranty good for -1-one year from time of completion, complete 4/26/2013.I did go to house and look at the problem there were few chips of paint on top of
railing, and notice there were more chips on bottom of railing,I did try to explain to costumer the bottom chips come from they clean snow from shovel hitting the rail she immediately respond absolutely NO,you need to FIXso kindly I ask if I remove the railing take to send blast to strip down paint,if there willing to pay for that send blast only, the respond again ABSOLUTELY NOTI was going to take care the labor removal painting delivery & install,so as now warranty as expire and there sure being no warranty do to fact was refusal of send blast from the begin of job ( to save money)
Explanation on sen blast, Send blast helps removal any skin or chemical that steel contains so have better absorption of paint to last longer
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/07/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Explanation of year warranty was never given nor "consideration" beyond a year stated or impliedFrom the beginning of contacting the shop, it was indicated the paint should not be bubbling and "falling off", revealing bare metalOne worker (Dan) with whome we spoke twice, stated it sounded like a bad paint job; which could happen if someone did not do a proper prep of the railing metalHe said we would hav to discuss specifics of repair with MichaelMichael never returned our phone calls until my husband showed up thereWhen he returned, it was clear someone made it look like the shop was closedI (the woman), was not discourteous or rude: It was clear, when Michael did finally agree to come and look at the railing, that he was not interested in repairing the railing as it should be repaired - fullyHe wanted to find a match for the paint and only repair the top of the railing: He was very selective about what he chose to point out about what was occurring with the railHe admitted to us that the top of the railing should not be peeling offHe did point out the bottom of the rail and said that was due to using salt in the winter and was not his responsibilityMy husband replied we do not use saltWhen we pointed out to him the middle sections of the railings that were bubbling and showing rust through the paint(almost all of the railings), he ignored that pointHe finally agreed to remove the railing and take it to the shop to sandblast and repaintThat is when he asked if we would cover the cost of the sandblastYes, my response was "No"Since we spent a premium amount of money to have this made and painted and it was already established from an employee of the shop and himself upon his visit, that this should not be occurring, why would we have to pay for any part of a repair and repaintExpected Solution: We only want what we invested inA custom-made product that was made by a craftsman that should last for an appropriate lifetime not less than yearsThe "Resolve" is for Michael (or employee) to remove the paint and repaint the railWe are disappointed in Michael's actions from the beginning of notifying him of the problem: He ignored our phone calls before, during, and now after the problem was identifiedHe did not ignore taking our order and our moniesWe are not looking for anything beyond what we would expect from a craftsman who values their workWe would discuss absorbing the labor cost of re-installing the railing; approximately hour of laborP.SOur prior stoop rail was from It was exposed to the same weather factors as this new stoopIt did not have bubbling and peeling paint or rust showing underneathIt did finally rot out at the base due to constant weather exposure (after over years)
