Initial Business Response /* ([redacted]0, 10, 2016/11/30) */
In March 2016 we presented a claim to [redacted] for consideration under the customers warranty coverage on [redacted]. The customer was complaining that his drivers seat cushion was separating around the seat stitching....

We contacted [redacted] warranty and sent them photos of the seat so that they could make a decision on whether the damage was covered by the vehicles warranty coverage. We were advised by Mazda that the seat damage appeared to fall under the warranty program and Target Mazda proceeded to replace the damaged part and submitted a claim to [redacted] in the amount of $[redacted] and we closed out the repair order . At a later date we received a request from [redacted] to send the damaged seat cover to warranty head office as they wanted to inspect the damaged part as they felt the damage may have been caused by misuse rather than normal wear and tear as their seat cushions are made to withstand a lot of wear and tear. When Mazda inspected the seat cover they found cigarette burns in the cover and other damage that was more consistant with rough usage that is not covered by the warranty. As a result of the inspection [redacted] warranty rejected the claim and denied coverage.
I than contacted [redacted] and explained the situation . The total bill was in the amount of $[redacted] and Target Mazda felt bad about what had happened but we could understand [redacted] decision as the seat was in rough condition. I offered to revise the original bill and wrote off $[redacted] of the cost of repairs leaving a balance of $[redacted] to be paid by the customer. [redacted] was not happy but did seem to appreciate that we at Target Mazda were willing to write off part of the bill and he agreed to pay the $[redacted] over a few months. [redacted] has made 2 payments of $[redacted] each leaving a balance owed of $[redacted] . He has not made a payment in the last few months but has never contacted anyone at Target Mazda to say that he will not pay any more and should have not paid anything. I was surprised to hear from Revdex.com yesterday about this issue.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2016/11/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There was a cigarette hole in seat which was not near or touching the tear in seat. The seat tear was not caused by rough use it was the seat itself. I agreed to the payment at the time as I didn't feel I had any other option. The more I thought about the situation the more I believe that I should note held liable for the payments. I appreciate target Mazda's effort but I still don't believe the bill should be mine. The tear was an issue with the seat. There was other parts of the seat that showed signs of wear and was noticeable the stitching was loosening. I did pay [redacted] dollars towards it.
