Evaluation Systems group of Pearson, a business of NCS Pearson, Inc. Reviews (8)

I paid [redacted] to submit an education portfolio for review. It has been 64 days since the score report date and I have not received a score or reason whyMy name is [redacted]. I submitted an edTPA portfolio on [redacted] 2015 to Evaluation Systems of Pearson Education Inc. The score report date was listed as [redacted] 2015 after ** pm. My score has been listed as "pending" on the edTPA website since that time. After several calls to speak to someone who can explain the situation to me, I am only told to contact their "Central Activities Unit" via fax or post mail, and representatives continually tell me that "there is no further information that can be provided". Upon contacting CAU, the only contact I've received is a letter thirty-six days after my score report date that informed me I would be contacted 60 days after the initial score report date. It has now been 64 days, and I still have not been given ANY indication as to why my score has not been reported. I paid [redacted] to submit this portfolio, and have not received my product. I have contacted Pearson representatives and mangers several times - as indicated by my phone call records - only to get the same response of, "Unfortunately, all I can tell you is to contact Central Activities, we have no further information." The fact is, they have taken [redacted] from a customer and have not only failed to deliver the product, but have also failed to me any indication as to why the product was not delivered.Desired SettlementI would like to have my [redacted] payment refunded. This company simply will not tell me why I have not received a score report more than two months from the initial score report date.Business Response We have reviewed the concerns identified by this candidate related to the release of results for the edTPA assessment. Candidates registering for the edTPA assessment acknowledge and agree to the policies governing the edTPA program, including the Rules of Assessment Participation, at the time of registration. Candidates are also required to attest to their adherence to specific program policies at the time of their edTPA portfolio submission. As part of these rules and policies, candidates are advised that failure to comply with the rules, requirements, and policies specified or referenced on the current edTPA website, or if any prohibited actions are taken by the candidate, the candidate's edTPA results may be voided and other actions may be taken by Evaluation Systems, the candidate's educator preparation program, or associated State Agency. We can confirm that this candidate submitted an edTPA portfolio on [redacted] 2015, and was scheduled to receive edTPA results on [redacted] 2015. However, at this time, the candidate's results remain pending while an investigation regarding conformance with the Rules of Assessment Participation is ongoing. Every effort is made to resolve such investigations in a timely manner, generally within 60 days of the initial score results release date; however, in some cases the investigation may require additional time to complete. Until the outcome of the investigation is complete, additional information is not available to the candidate. However, once complete, the resolution of the investigation will be confirmed with the candidate. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The only, SINGLE contact that Evaluation Systems has made with me, the CUSTOMER regarding this submission was a letter received in [redacted] promising contact regarding the status and decision of my submission by [redacted] of 2015. Even that letter offered no indication whatsoever as to why the score is being withheld. Having no other contact from Evaluation Systems prior to or since that [redacted] letter, I can only assume that they have no intention of delivering the product that I paid [redacted] for. It has now been 116 days since I submitted my portfolio, and nearly 100 days since the intended score report date. EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT that I have made to Evaluation Systems has resulted in verbal refusal on the phone and I have been denied the opportunity to acquire any information regarding the status of the portfolio submission. The argument here is not whether I will receive a favorable decision or not, rather, it's the fact that I have not received a decision at all, and I have been denied the opportunity to obtain any information whatsoever regarding the status of my submission. By taking my money, and not delivering a decision by their own self imposed deadline, and not releasing any information to me, the person who is the customer - not a candidate - is tantamount to ransom at best and theft at worst. You cannot, as a business, claim payment and then arbitrarily decide to withhold my product indefinitely, without ANY explanation as to why the product, regardless of what the decision is, has been withheld. Even if a decision were to be provided tomorrow, Evaluation Systems is a company that should be reported for their abhorrent practices regarding the refusal of informing the customer of why their score report is being withheld, and not delivering a result within a reasonable time frame. it does not take 120 days to make a decision regarding a submission that normally takes 21 days.Regardless, I maintain my claim to have my [redacted] payment returned, as I have not received my product, and I have not been informed as to when I will.

I took a pilot test for this company and did not receive the [redacted] that was supposed to be paid as compensation for participating. I called the company and talked to their representative, [redacted]. ~She verified that the Front page, advertising the [redacted] Test 3, states that participants would receive compensation based on verification of participation.~During the registration process it states that a minimum amount of material would need to be submitted. No where is it written what the minimum is or any other specific requirements that a participant would need to complete in order to receive the [redacted] compensation. After further questioning, their representative told me that the company collected all the writings, averaged them out, and then only the writings containing the average number of words would receive the [redacted] compensation, and my writing was not in that average.I feel that the requirement was not clearly stated/presented to me. I took off of work to participate in the [redacted] and I responded to the question/prompt that was presented. I feel that I participated in the [redacted] as desired by the company, and I should receive the [redacted] compensation.Account_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementI respectfully request my due compensation of [redacted] for participating.Business Response This letter is in response to the candidate's recent communication with the Revdex.com regarding receiving an incentive for completion of the [redacted] test.As stated in the instructions for the [redacted] test and in the instructions on a candidate's Receipt of Completion after taking a [redacted] test, a candidate must have completed the [redacted] test satisfactorily to be eligible to receive an incentive. No set length is required for written performance items on the examination. Items themselves, however, provide guidance on the content of the written response such as:- identification of data trends for all students in the school and for each subgroup of students;- an analysis of the data to support the implementation of professional development aimed at improving instruction in one or more areas of need;- a description and explanation of professional development and/or strategies to improve instruction in an identified area of need; and- a plan to monitor instructional improvement in the identified area of need.Incentives are not provided for [redacted] tests that are considered incomplete and do not contain sufficient material in order to measure the skills that the [redacted] is intended to test. We have researched the candidate's concerns and confirmed the requirements were not fully met; however, due to the reported confusion that this candidate experienced, we will provide the incentive to this candidate as a courtesy. Pearson Evaluation Systems/PECT is withholding information about my test and scores that I am entitled to. They expect me to trust them without proof.[redacted] 2015, I spoke to a representative at phone number XXX-XXX-XXXX PECT [redacted] (He did not give his name) to find out information regarding 2 [redacted] math tests that I took over the past 2 years. I asked him to tell me what areas of math I did poorly in and how they determine point values of each question? The man said each test and question is scored differently and at random. I asked what type of math is scored higher (ex. algebra vs. geometry) and he said he could not tell me. Also, Pearson will not give you a print out of the questions that you got correct and incorrect, so how am I suppose to know they are scoring me correctly and fairly? What proof do they give me that the computer program has worked as it should? They expect the public to keep taking their word for it that you failed by your own means and not theirs. This is not honest business practice and should be stopped immediately. They refuse to provide me with any proof that confirms their services have worked accurately in scoring my tests. I have no other choice but to believe their system makes an abundance of errors that they do not want to be responsible for. The public is entitled to know what results they achieved on every test they take. PECT/Pearson have no rights to withhold that information. I am requesting a release of my test results and a detailed explanation of how each question was scored so I can make sure there were no errors on their part.Desired SettlementI am seeking a print out of my test questions, answers, and point value for each question/answer. Business Response Communication was received by both the Revdex.com and the customer. A response to the customer's complaint was provided in writing, mailed [redacted] 2015, and a copy was also mailed to the Revdex.com directly. The response provided confirms that the examinee agreed during the registration process to the Rules of Test Participation for the testing program, which specifically state that examinees may not have access to secure testing materials outside the testing session. These rules are readily available to view on the PECT website. It has also been explained that the raw point value per test item cannot be provided as that number may vary depending on the test form which is provided, and/or on the difficulty or content of the item. The test form provided at a test administration is kept confidential for reasons of test security.Detailed information regarding the examinee's performance is supplied as part of the provided score report. This information corresponds to free study materials available on the PECT website so that the examinee can identify areas of weakness for additional study. This is the most detailed information we are able to provide without releasing and compromising secure materials. The customer was invited to reach out to Evaluation Systems directly by phone or in writing if she has any additional questions or concerns.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)They did not address the issues that I presented to them.

Dear Amherst Revdex.com, Thank you in advance for your help in obtaining a refund of two-hundred-dollars from Pearson Education, Inc. In preparing and registering for my Middle Grades Math 5-9 test by computer, I saw the test was "80 questions and 2.5 hours long". However, as I began the test at just before 8:00 a.m. on 8/1/2014, a pop-up on the computer screen said that the test was "70 questions and 150 minutes long". I expressly remember the "70 questions and 150 minutes long" because it was the very first time that the time limit of the test was put into minutes instead of "2.5 hours". Thus, I was shocked when I finished question #70, clicked on the "NEXT" button, and found out there were another five (5) of the most difficult questions on the test still to answer. I only had just over a minute to basically guess at the last five questions (~7% of the test) after spending up to that time answering other questions and reviewing my answers since I was told the test was only 70 questions long. I know my taking the above test was delayed until August 1, 2014 because Pearson, Inc. told me that they were making changes to the test and I could not obtain an immediately after the test "pass/fail" result. Thus, I took it that when I saw there were only 70 questions that that was part of the changes to the test recently made by Pearson, Inc. Worse, their test website is so primitive that it does not have a "counter" (Ex. 7/70) to let us know what questions we are on of exactly how many. I mean, there are even three different P.O. Boxes as addresses for Pearson, Inc. on their own website and employees at the company are too ashamed to put their name in the Signature Block when they reply by E-mail. I just do not believe that this company has it together. Therefore, I am positive you will agree that when a person's career and livelihood are based on test results, Pearson, Inc. must be more exact in how many questions are actually on each test. Thank you.Sincerely,[redacted]Product_Or_Service: Middle Grades Math X-X (XXX) TestDesired Settlement Reversal (refund) of the two-hundred-dollar charge to my Wells Fargo Visa debit card.Business Response We have researched this candidate's request for a refund for the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) Middle Grade Mathematics 5-9 test. We are unable to honor this candidate's request to provide a refund or credit of testing fees for this test. As explained to this candidate in previous correspondence, the approximate number of test questions contained on a FTCE/FELE test is provided on the Test Information page for the desired test. For Middle Grades Mathematics 5-9, the test information page indicates that approximately 80 multiple-choice questions will appear on this test. The test information page also indicates that tests may include questions that are being evaluated for future administrations and that do not affect an examinee's score.Further, we have confirmed the pop-up message presented to the candidate at the beginning of the test session for the Middle Grade Mathematics 5-9 test did accurately reflect the actual number of test questions appearing on the test and the length of the testing session. We hope this information is helpful. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Every time you interact with Pearson, Inc. they tell you there are a different number of questions on the test! Now they say there are 80 questions on the test, the pop-up at the test site said there were only 70 questions, and there ended up being 75 questions. I believe that what happened was that when they redid the test over the summer that no one really knows how many questions are on the test. I mean, just looking at the Pearson, Inc. website is confusing, as they list about three different addresses for their company. When Pearson, Inc. says they "confirmed" something, I do not believe it. The worst though is that even though they charge $200.00 per test, their testing website is so primitive that it has no "counter" at the bottom right-hand corner to let us know what test question we are on our of how many total (Ex. 7/70). Pearson, Inc. has real questions, they have evaluation for future admin. questions, and have no real idea how many questions. I am positive you will agree that Pearson, Inc. cannot come into people's lives with such a disorganized, confusing, and UNconfirmed number of questions. Thank you. Sincerely,[redacted]
