He brought his Hyundai Accent to my shop with a loud exhaust complaint, which was a broken flex pipeIn the course of replacing this flex pipe we discovered his catalytic converter was bad alsoWe called with an estimate to replace the converter or not, he said replace itA
couple days after getting his car back, he returned explaining his car sounded different than before ( it does have different parts now), so he left it with usWe drove the car, raised it on the lift, pressure checked for leaks in the exhaust, there were none, the car was quite sounding, no noises other than a heat shield rattle away from the repaired area, we fixed thatWhen he came back a third time saying the car sounds loud, I drove it, checked it again, it is quiet, no problems, no "check engine light", will pass Ohio emissions and safety testingHis car has no exhaust problems I can findHis solution #1, for him to take HIS car to Hyundai and have OEM parts installed and ME pay the bill is ridiculousIt may be quieter, (estimate $1,560.00), maybe notHis solution #2, a full refund of $430.00? Why should he drive his car around town with $of exhaust parts I paid for? In the interest of settling this issue, I would refund half of his expenses $If he does have Hyundai replace those parts, and return them to me, I would refund the balance $I have been in this business years, licensed, insured, and reputableUsually consumers leave my shop grateful they have a $repair for $430.00, and proudly told they have a full one year warranty

I have stated our position on the customer loud exhaust complaint in the previous responseWe did NOT find any problems with his Hyundai Accent's exhaust repairsWe did install OEM parts on his carIf he thinks a refund of $on his repair bill is fair and justified, I will issue a refund check to him, in this case, to settle this dispute

Regarding a Refund for MrZafar. I had offered a refund to MrZafar to settle a dispute we had, I was going to write him a check at my business when he stopped byI have mailed a check to his address today, June

From: * * *** Sent: Sunday, June 07, 9:PMTo: ***Subject: RE: Complaint ID ***Hello,I have received payment from the businessThis concludes the disputeThank you for your help in reaching a resolution. My only other alternative would have been to file a Small Claims Court appeal and thankfully I did not have too. Thanks,***

Hello,I am in receipt of the response from the business regarding my dispute with the business over an inferior repair carried out on my car.The business owner clearly acknowledges in his response that the car is expected to sound different. The owner also states that the reason that the car now sounds different is because there are different parts on the car. This was in no way shape or form conveyed to me prior to carrying out the repairs. I was expecting original Hyundai parts to be used or at the very least, parts made to the same specification so that they performed similar to the original manufacturer parts. When one has their vehicle repaired they expect it to function in a manner similar to before the malfunction. One does not get their car repaired to have it sound like a diesel truck or to drive like a go-kart.In the interest of preventing an escalation of this issue, I will offer to drop my complaint against Evan's Auto Repair, in lieu of reimbursement of $300.00.
