inspect the job. Evans explained that the carpet is a patterned loop carpet that loses rows at its edges where it meets walls in the family room that are angled and offset. The adjoining room also has the same carpet installed and the walls in this room are not angled or offset and the carpet’s row edges are uniform.
Due to the consumers concerns, Evans contacted the manufacturer who in turn commissioned an independent inspector to the job site to evaluate the material and installation.
The Carpet Inspection Report reads as follows:
“Upon close inspection of the installation, seams were well made, with square edges. The consumers said that the two previously installed carpets in these areas were not patterned and there were no issues with them. In conclusion, I find that the pattern run off appearance at the carpets edges is due to the offset and angled walls that it’s meeting. In places where carpet meets squared walls, there are no issues. The carpets appearance is site related and not due to any manufacturing related condition.”
The consumer then asked to explore the possibility of patching the area. Evans sent another mechanic to further discuss the possibility of patching the carpet and he explained in detail why this would not be feasible.
Evans has offered a discount to the consumer on the cost to install a non-patterned
carpet. The consumer’s response is “we are not interested in replacing the carpet as we like the one that has been installed.”

Review: We had a new carpet installed in our basement. There is a pattern in the carpet and we believe that it should have been lined up with the outside walls. It has been poorly installed and joined. Despite requesting the sales person and [redacted] out to view the installation, they feel no need to see the installation. I would like an independent expert to see the installation and arbitrate the matter. I have paid 50% of the bill and holding back on the balance until I have satisfaction. It is not a case of a financial discount, we want the cartpet install;ed correctly.Desired Settlement: Proper Installation
