As the client indicated there was an error on his original return completed by [redacted] [redacted] which we apologize for and readily admit it was an error we causedWhen the NYS letter was received the client was given the option of amending his federal tax return, paying the tax due and receiving the interest from usThis would have resulted in interest due of less than $and closed the matterHe chose not to amend at the time of the NYS letterThe client was well aware that he would have owed additional tax to the federal government as a result of the error so not sure how we would have resolved it if payment was not madeThe original letter was brought in July to be reviewed for accuracyEven without receiving the voice mail message he had a responsibility to stay in contact with usHad the client filed the federal amended return when he received the NYS letter or paid the bill when he received the first letter there would have been no month penalty and a smaller amount of interest*** [redacted] elected to pay the $interest amount to the July letter- our policy is to pay it to the time of the discovery of the error which would have been when he received the NYS letterWe believe it was the client's responsibility to have resolved this issue much sooner to avoid the penalty and the higher interest amount

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. When I called them early July, they just asked me to leave the IRS letter in the mailboxThey didn't tell me it was their errorThey didn't apologizeI didn't hear anything from themNeither did I recieve a check or any direction or explanation from themWhen I got another letter from IRS in November, I was shockedAt that time they said it was their mistake and claimed they left a voice message in July, which I didn't getEven if they left a message that's not enoughThey should have mailed me a check with an explanationThey filed my income tax erroneously and even failed to handle their mistake in a professional manner Regards, [redacted] ***

tax due and receiving the interest from us. This would have resulted in interest due of less than $35 and closed the matter. He chose not to amend at the time of the NYS letter. The client was well aware that he would have owed additional tax to the federal government as a result of the error so not sure how we would have resolved it if payment was not made. The original letter was brought in July to be reviewed for accuracy. Even without receiving the voice mail message he had a responsibility to stay in contact with us. Had the client filed the federal amended return when he received the NYS letter or paid the bill when he received the first letter there would have been no 19 month penalty and a smaller amount of interest. [redacted] elected to pay the $57 interest amount to the July letter- our policy is to pay it to the time of the discovery of the error which would have been when he received the 2014 NYS letter. We believe it was the client's responsibility to have resolved this issue much sooner to avoid the penalty and the higher interest amount.
