Everblossom Farm Reviews (2)

June 30, 2016Dear Sir Or Madam:My farm business uses Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) for the sale of subscriptions of weekly vegetablesMembers can also buy "add-on" shares that we offer from other local businessesThe fruit share and Coffee shares We offer are an add-onsHundreds of our
members buy and enjoy these add-ons, as they have this season as well.I have offered a definition of CSA belowFollowing this definition are details regarding the ashares, the member agreement that each new member must agree to before completing registration, and my conversations with the customer who has complained, as well as correspondence that was sent to all members.Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) defined:Community Supported Agriculture consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes, either legally or spiritually, the community's farm, with the growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food productionTypically, members or "share-holders" of the farm or garden pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and farmer's salary, in return, they receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land and participating directly in food productionMembers also share in the risks of farming, including poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pestsBy direct sales to community members, who have provided the farmer with working capital in advance, growers receive better prices for their crops, gain some financial security, and are relieved of much of the burden of marketing. An email announcement sent to fruit share members regarding the hardships faced by our regions fruit farmers: Hey there %%user-first name%%!We've started our fruit shares in a strange way this year, and I'd like to take a minute to tell you why. Many of you who are in our immediate region know about the devastating late frost that did some damage to vegetable gardens throughout our areaWell that loss is nothing compared to what our fruit farmers have endured. In late April, our area, which is known for its vast fruit production, was subject to record low temperatures after a period of unusual warmthFruit trees had set blossoms already, and growers scrambled to save themEven though though most growers went so far as to build enormous bonfires in their orchards, many blooms froze and died, reducing the potential fruit yield significantly,Fear notThere will be fruit for you all this seasonHowever, supply of some favorites is significantly limitedI hope to deliver you some delicious sweet cherries from *** *** this coming weekFor now, We've brought you some Cameo apples from *** *** impeccable storage, and ***'s phenomenal organic apple sauce with absolutely no additives. In a nutshell (or peach pit, if you will), you'll get your money's worth, but the abundance of certain fruits will be different from other yearsYou're experiencing exactly what it means to belong to a CSA-community supported agricultureAs our supportive community, you have joined on to commit your hard-earned money to us farmers so that we might have security in difficult times, Our fruit farmers appreciate you, and so do IThank you in advance for your understandingOur farms member agreement that each member must agree to in order to access the final confirmation page of registration: "The crops offered in this subscription plan may vary according to weather, pests, diseases and other production factorsPurchasing any Everblossom Farm product commits you to paying in fullIf for some reason you cannot continue with a subscription(s) you purchase, you assume all responsibility for selling or forfeiting the subscription(s)."The online fruit share description: By choosing a fruit share you will be subscribing to weekly deliveries of the regions best fruit from three premier family farmsEach of these farms maintains the highest quality of fruit and we are thrilled to be partnering with themEach week you will receive an average of $worth of fruitFor example: cherries are much more expensive than apples, we will average the difference over the length of your sharc to give you the best value for your hard earned dollarsThis share will begin the third week of JuneHere is some information about our three partner farms:***’s Organic Farms: We are a certified organic farm located in south-central Pennsylvania close to GettysburgWe have acres of land which arc certified organicOur products meet the USDA seal of approvalWe are certified by Pennsylvania Certified Organic, which is an approved certifier of the USDAOur harvest will be our eighth crop to be certified organic,*** *** Fruit Farm: Located between Gettysburg and Carlisle in Northern Adams County, *** *** Fruit Farm has been family owned and operated for over years*** *** has a wide variety of apples, peaches, cherries, apricots, pears, and small fruits for our farmers markets and the wholesale market, Farming on acres, *** *** is a diversified operation with an emphasis on sustainability - it was cherries from *** *** and Fuji apples from BeechwoodDespite the struggles (I mentioned above) of the fruit farms, in the third week of the fruit share, members are receiving blueberries and cherriesThe fruits are delicious, and members are raving about them - especially the high quality of the applesThey send me photos of their kids eating them and recipes that they love.*** said to me that she understands the coffee was fine, it just wasn't her tasteWe offer different varieties with each deliveryShe cancelled her share before she could try a different typeI created an online account for her in our online farm store that is for members who choose an exclusive share type that allows them to select their produce each weekThe money that she paid for the coffee share was transferred as credit for her in the online storeI helped her place an order for strawberries, which she receivedThere are not many fruits in the online store, but always some, and certainly many more as they become available from the fruit farmersThe strawberries in the store were our own and not sourced of the farm.I did my very best to explain to *** how I could help her use her investment in our farm, but that I was unable to offer a refundI reminded her that she had agreed to our member agreement of share forfeiture if cancelledShe then threatened to slander our farm on ***I, again, tried to explain to her how she could still use her investment and that the products in the store would be more bountiful as the season progressed and more fruit ripened, she threatened me againWe had been having difficulty staying connected on our cell phones and I called her back several timesWhen speaking with her, she continued to talk over me and so it was difficult to know if she understood what was saying to herShe obviously didn't want to hear any solutionsSo, after she threatened me a second time, I did in fact call her evilI do not feel that made a poor judgement with regard to that statement.*** continues to have access to our online farm store, and will have access for the entire seasonHer credit is for the coffee share that she did not like (but that literally hundreds of other people love all over south central PA)She may order products from us online any week up until the season ends in OctoberAnd we will continue to deliver her fruit share each Week to the pick up location she selectedIf she does not pick them up within the time frame for the location she has chosen, the fruit will be donated. In years of selling directly to folks in my community, I have never had a customer be as rude to me as this womanI wish there was a bureau for reporting consumers.Sincerely,Elaine L.Farmer/Owner
