I am rejecting this response because I still don't agree with Precision's position Each of the other companies backs their products and services as well However, you can close the complaint, because we're at an impasse

I accept the refund of our $55, but, I was fairly certain I could get a refund without Revdex.com assistance.  The reason I reached out to the Revdex.com, is because both of the other vendors quoted converting our system, as Precision recommended, for a 1/3 of Precision's estimate.  And another vendor did perform the conversion for us, and others in the neighborhood.   The Precision Rep maligned the product we have installed in our home, and made a big production about what's involved in the conversion.   I believe Precision took advantage of the situation (not having a functioning garage door) and used it as an opportunity to significantly overcharge for the conversion.  I am a former board member of our community's association, and folks often look to me for information in these types of situations.  So I called a few more companies to test my theory.  The information I gave was that our garage door wouldn't open and close mechanically, and it looked like we had a "broken cable" - very vague.  In each case, they asked questions about our set-up, determined it was most likely a broken spring, and realized since I couldn't see a spring, that a conversion might be recommended.  I didn't get a single quote over $275 total cost.  All said it would take less than 30 minutes.  I didn't call out Precision by name, but I did disclose the cost of the quote I had.  Each one confirmed there isn't anything "special" any other vendor would be doing that would warrant such a high fee.So it made sense to me to report it, so others would avoid paying $635 for something of equal quality and value that others are charging under $275 for.
[redacted]

Prior to our technician arriving for service on 10/13/2015, [redacted] contacted us
the day before on 10/12/2015
through the chat service on our local website; he set up an appointment for the
following day and indicated that he had what appeared to be a broken cable. At
that time, no prices were...

quoted.
On 10/13/15,
prior to the appointment, [redacted]’s wife) called to cancel and
schedule for a later time that night, during emergency hours. While on the
phone, [redacted] reiterated that they had a broken cable. She was quoted a $75
emergency service fee plus parts and labor; cables were also quoted at $75-125
per pair (depending on the size of the door). Unfortunately, we’re never able
to tell, definitively, what type of problem the customer is experiencing until
our technician arrives onsite.
Due to the fact that we are not a Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster supplier
or dealer, any repair beyond minor cable and door adjustments (springs,
bearings, drums, etc), we always recommend converting to a conventional open-torsion
system. This is a system we are able to repair and back with an extended
warranty. From a parts quality standpoint, we’ve also found that it tends to be
a more safe and reliable option for our customers.
When our technician arrived, he determined that the cable
was intact, but the spring was broken. Since we’re not able to replace a Wayne
Dalton TorqueMaster system, we recommended converting to our open-torsion
system for $650. This pricing includes the following: 16’ torsion tube, center
and end bearing plates, a set of drums, a set of cables, a set of nylon rollers
and 2 hi-cycle torsion springs. Additionally, this price included the $55
service fee, labor and a 5-year warranty covering parts and labor.
Since no work was completed, I have refunded the $55.00
service fee that was initially charged. I’ve also made an attempt to reach out
to [redacted] to try and explain the difference in product and why we made the
recommendation that we did. I was unsuccessful in getting through to her.
