*** *** came in to our store and wanted a hall and steps doneShe was verbally made aware that there was a $charge for the installer to come out as well as it is stamped on the invoice as she has statedThat if the store gets the job, the $charge is removed from the invoice which is only
fairWe are Not going to charge you for the measure if we are doing the jobNow, before a job is measured, and a Customer doesn't bring us any sizes, just "steps and a hallway", it is very hard to give them any kind of estimate when they first come in to the storeSo until the job is measuredthis is an unknownAfter being measured, it turns out there were boxed steps, open steps 28' of stringers(carpet needed on sides of steps) landing and a long hallwayAll of this was labor intensive*** *** returned to the store was shown different types of carpet ranging in price from slightly over $installed to the price that she has stated in her complaintShe didn't want to look at the carpet that was slightly over $500, she didn't like thoseBefore she left the store however, she stated that she was coming back with a swatch of her old carpet to compare, but never didSo as far as we are concerned, we did what we were suppose to doWe measured her, we showed here what we had to offerUnfortunately, what she liked was out of her price rangeWe cannot be held responsible for thatOur installer was paid for the measure because he did Not get the jobI don't know what else to sayWe have a Very Good Customer reputation hereWe go out of out way to please peopleSometimes you just can'tThank you*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here] After having my steps and hallway measured, I went back to the store and was told my carpet would cost me somewhere in the range of $800-$900 (I can't remember the exact price) even before I had the opportunity to choose a carpet.  I was shown the carpets they wanted me to purchase and when I asked about other carpets I was told that is not the type of carpet you put on stairs.  Yes it became upsetting that you had already priced the carpet before I had even had a chance to chose.  They were only allowing me to look at certain carpets.  There were two sales representatives and the lady even said to me "Are you selling the house".  Guess she assumed I was and it really should matter.  I told her no I live there and don't want to look at some of that stuff they were showing me every day. That is not how business is done.  I asked before I even put the deposit down to see the carpets and was told it's not done that way.  We have to have the measurements first.  I've never purchase carpet where they have given you a price before you have the opportunity to choose the carpet and padding first.I'm appaulled that they are allowed to get away with this.  They believe they are the greatest and after speaking with people I know in the neighborhood their responses were I wish I'd known you were going their because I wasn't and satisfied.  I thought they were because I hadn't heard any complaints. All I can say is buyer beware.

I will make this perfectly clear as possible. [redacted] was first shown carpet that was conducive for steps and hallways (high traffic areas) we did Not want to sell her something that would ware out in a short period of time. We have been around for many years and know what types of carpet will hold up under theses types of conditions. Unfortunately, this type of carpet does cost more then your normal "everyday" carpet but we did Not want to under sell her, because if we did, and the carpet wore out prematurely, it would not be good for all concerns.  So that's why we show our Customers specific carpet for certain areas. As I stated in my previous response, from there we attempted to show the Customer many different choices for less money. Quite frankly, from this point on, this Customer Refused to look at anything else. Even her son who was with her at the time and by the way was very polite and cooperative, asked her to come and look at the other carpets however, she still refused. This Customer is still welcome to come back to the store, bring that swatch from her old carpet that she was suppose to bring back the first time. Other then that, I must reiterate, we at CMO did our due diligence. We provided a service by measuring the Customer's area requested to be measured. The Customer was showed the goods that we have to offer and given several price quotes based on what she had looked at. The Customer decided Not to go with us. As written on the invoice and verbally stated, the measuring fee went to the installer. As stated above, this Customer is more the welcome to come back to the store. If she does go with CMO we will still deduct the measuring fee from the invoice. At this time, I consider case to be CLOSED. I will Not respond to any further complaints regarding this matter.Thank you. [redacted]
