Everybody's Place Complete Auto Reviews (1)

Review: I unwittingly went to Everybody's Place for a NYS inspection, not properly reading the litany of reviews listing the place as a complete scam (see any review after 2012 on [redacted]. After being told I failed the inspection (having passed in 2014 when I bought the car), the [redacted] insisted that a $140 needs to diagnostic take place (beyond the initial diagnostic) on the next business day, essentially to double-check the initial inspection results. Even after I showed him a diagnostic sheet from 500 miles and 30 days prior. He stated that he himself was required to run his own diagnosis, stating that he was like a physician, and insisting that CarSense's diagnostic (a repair facility vastly superior to this establishment) was not trustworthy despite being exactly the same as his assessment and free of charge. Having read that this exact scam happened to others in online reviews, I made an attempt to halt work first thing that morning before he continued his scam, only to not have anyone answer the phone multiple times (he has no answering machine but he records every phone call, which he told us later when we confronted him). He had insisted that he would take care of this repair first thing in the morning, but had waited until contacting me at 4:30.

Having not been able to stop the work, he proceeded to do $136 on more diagnostics , only to call back and say that "further diagnostics would be require" - and would have to take place that night to "re-flash the computer", further committing me, or whoever falls into this trap into more "diagnostics" with one's car having been taken hostage. To try and prevent further extortion, my girlfriend left work early and took a $40 taxi ride to the location and removed the vehicle from the premises, but only before he made her pay $136 for probably 15 minutes of work. He took advantage of my noticeable lack of time and held my car hostage.

This was a calculated deceit and I suppose I am lucky to have caught it before he trapped me into a thousand dollar inspection sticker purchase.Desired Settlement: This person should give a full refund for the inspection, extorted payment, and taxi fare.

The inspection was $37, the extorted secondary charge was $136, and the taxi fare was $30. I ask for this $203 to be returned.
