I looked into your situation again and you may have been a paying customer but when you leave the property you must take your vehicle with you. The signs in the lot clearly state if you leave this lot without your vehicle it is subject to immediate removal. Looking into your time complaint, the time on the tow slip is 7:34 pm which is the time your vehicle arrived at our location. Your vehicle was removed from burger king approximately 15 minutes prior. Upon reviewing my camera footage again I did however see your mother stumble a little just after she shut her door walking towards the rear of the car. I have checked my parking lot where this happened and have found nothing wrong with the blacktop. Our towing of your car was well within the law and the property owners rules. We would like to resolve your complaint by giving a refund in the amount of your tow. Please contact [redacted] to arrange payment.
Thank You

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The point is I was a paying customer of the Burger King at the time you towed me.  The manager agreed with me and remembered me paying minutes previously.  The time on your towing ticket was 7:34pm and I had already called this number ([redacted] at 7:33pm after spending time in the Burger King.  The man we dealt with was completely rude and did hang up.  My mother tripped getting out of her car before anyone was there she hurt her ankle and it was sore for almost a week.  I understand you have to tow people who are not paying customers from the Burger King but we were clearly paying customers and were there well before the time stated on the ticket.
Regards,

This towing company is the worst. I will not be addressing the unprofessional staff or the offensive smell in the office. However, I do want to state Cox-Reilly ILLEGALLY towed my car from a private business that I personally received permission to park my car.
My personal opinion is this company is conducting an "illegal towing scam". I believe if you are parked "illegally" it’s only right you reap the consequences, but if you are NOT parked illegal where is the justice.
I did NOT pay the amount the company was attempting to extort from me however, I did retrieve my car. The private company where I parked my car LEGALLY and with their permission paid the fees.
So the question still remains how can a towing company go onto a private lot WITHOUT permission or request from the company and two a car? (Revert back to my personal opinion above)
I understand all aspects of business and this type of business practice is questionable, unethical, and borderline illegal.
I am researching now what are the statues and laws towing companies are given to see how customers are be protected from these type of scams.

in response to you letter I looked into the situation and spoke to my driver.I found that your car was towed from burger king because you left you vehicle in their parking lot as stated in the letter. there are 6 signs with our phone number and complete address on the property that state if you...

leave this parking lot without your vehicle the vehicle is subject ti immediate removal at the owners expense.unfortunately if burger king allows everyone to park in there lot and go elsewhere eventually there would be no parking for their immediate customers.also you stated you called our number on the sign and was wrong but then you said it directed you to another number.the other number is a direct cell phone line to the driver designed to speed up the process of collecting you car. it didn't go through because he was on the phone and our mail box was full that we didn't know but have corrected that.then you called back and spoke to him , I asked him about hanging up on you and he said when in person to you he tried to explain to you when confronted about that it must have been a cellular drop call on someones behalf but you wouldn't accept that explanation but he said he didn't hang up on purpose.I read in you letter you mother tripped and hurt her ankle, I looked in my video system and saw you two young boys your mother wearing a nurse uniform and no one even stumbled let alone fell I have a copy of the entire video copied if needed.I am unable to issue a refund after finding the facts do not compare to your letter

The personnel associated with this business are some of the most arrogant, antagonistic and un-professional people I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They towed my car from a lot that was not clearly marked. Then unloaded it in their impound yard into a pile of snow that was so deep they had to pull it out with a chain. They really have quite a profitable scheme going on in Newark and Elkton. I can only hope that karma takes care of them in the end.

after I read the complaint I had a meeting with [redacted] who was involved in this matter . he could not remember any reason why she would say he was rude or racist. i then went to the video of the office to see what happened. I saw her come in and [redacted] show and explain the letter from the...

property management and was calm.she then called her landlord and gave the phone to [redacted] to speak to them,[redacted] explained what had happened that the property management sent us a letter to tow all cars with tags expired beyond 2 weeks and that hers were expired over 2 weeks and she was towed and the landlord completely understood. when [redacted] gave the phone back to her she become very angry with [redacted] because she thought it would go different. she gave [redacted] her credit card he ran it and asked her to sign she only signed an x [redacted] asked her to please sign it correct, she did but made her more angry I saw [redacted] was very calm and she wasn't . I saw [redacted] handle himself very professional and we work on that very hard here to treat everyone polite and courteously and never with racism, ever.

I have been taking my cars to Ewing's for about 15 years. The service is great and they have reminded me about warranties on parts several times. I recommend this place to my friends and family.

Review: On 8/30/2013 at some time between 10:00PM and 2:00AM, my car was towed out of a lot on South Main Street in Newark, DE by the Ewing towing company. I parked in the lot between [redacted] and the [redacted] office, at the apartment complex where I have parked dozens of times to visit a resident. There is NO visible sign that indicates any parking restrictions both at the entrance to the lot or anywhere near where I parked. When I picked up my car, the clerk at the desk assured me that I must have passed at least two signs indicating parking restrictions. He was unnecessarily rude and even threatened to double my fine just for arguing with him. I paid the $80 to recover my car and drove back to the lot I was parked in to take pictures of the nonexistent signs. I called the towing company back to let them know that I checked the lot and found no signs. He didn't have any interest in talking to me and just hung up the phone, repeatedly.

My receipt number is [redacted] The credit card charged for $80.00 was a visa ending in 6366, approval code [redacted]Desired Settlement: First of all, I would like the $80.00 that I paid refunded to my Visa card, on account of the fact that there was no way I could have known that the lot I parked in was restricted (with picture evidence)

I also request that they either put a sign at the entrance to that lot indicating parking restrictions or change their policy on towing in unmarked lots such as this one.

P.S. The clerk threatening me to double my fine for arguing with him and dropping my phone calls is a blatant violation of not just the law, but also my first amendment rights to free speech.

hello i've read the complaint and looked into the matter. I spoke to my employees and also looked at he audio video of [redacted] in our office.the first complaint he has of my desk clerk being rude and threatening is completely false he answered every question even when asked the same question numerous times. on the audio video [redacted] first stated there are no signs and after he paid minutes later he said that I did see signs. he also said there where no signs near where he parked. I spoke to the driver to see what area of the lot he towed the car from and then I drove to the lot to see for myself. [redacted] parked towards the beginning of the lot and when I pulled into the lot I found that our sign at the entrance was missing.at this point I would like to credit his visa card for $80.00 however he would have to contact me with his c/c number. thank you [redacted]

Review: I am appalled at the service I received from this towing company this morning. I have never in my life been treated so poorly and ignorantly and racist, so rude, so nasty, so unprofessional in all my life. The persons name is [redacted] at Ewing Towing in Elkton Maryland.I went out to start my car this morning to find it had been towed by this company for expired tag(Jan 2015)its Feb 24th, I did not get notice of this. I called the company, I was advised my [redacted] that the complex I live-in had ordered him to remove my car for expired tag, he said the association had enforced this order about 1 month ago. He said he had a copy of the order and would give it to me. I in turn called the rental agency and informed them and they said they did not have any notice and would contact owner. When I arrived [redacted] attitude totally changed from when I spoke to him on the phone. He proceeded to tell me very nastily that it was my job to keep my car legal and If I was getting mad I could just leave! Very RUDE! This was on oversight on my part but did not warrant this behavior or actions on his behalf. It is unacceptable. And I will not tolerate this from anyone. I wouldn't usually say I was being discriminated against but that was definitely the case here, It was unbearable how he treated me! I had to contain my composer because he kept saying very rude comments and making unnecessary remarks. I maintained my cool but did not appreciate His attitude or behavior. It was uncalled for and over the top unprofessional and rude! I would never recommend this company to anyone because of my experience.Desired Settlement: For the way I was treated and talked to I would like my money refunded because according to the complex they never ordered this service and this Towing is did this randomly. I would also like this person [redacted] to give me a formal apology for his awful behavior and attitude toward me the customer. There was no call for his actions.
