[redacted]

Review: I am writing this complaint to detail my experience with Ex Center/[redacted] Repair. I put down a deposit of $40.00 on a laptop computer on August **, 2013 and due to my work requirements I found out in the same month I would need to fly to Los Angeles, C.A. My stay subsequently became longer than expected and I returned to New York with intent on moving to L.A. to take advantage of new opportunities. I was preparing for this big move that would happen at the end of 2014 and during this time of trying to tie up loose ends I remembered I had a laptop I would be needing already on layaway. I returned to the store on July [redacted] 2014 and spoke to the same rep who took my initial deposit almost this same time last year and he remembered me. When I spoke of my old layaway he said he could do nothing without a receipt and if I did find it he did not know if his [redacted] would honor the amount to which I responded, how can that be when you took my money.I made a deposit on a newer computer the same day (60 Dollars) and told him I would not leave this one so long. I went home and searched through all my papers and finally found my old receipt. I returned on July [redacted] 2014 to show him my proof and ask him to add this amount to my new purchase. The rep then became obstinate, pointed to some fine-print and told me that the receipt said I only had 90 days to claim this amount and the receipt DOES NOT have any language of the sort. When I said this does not say this he reluctantly said he would call his [redacted]. He called and spoke to the his [redacted], and told him the situation. [redacted] said he would honor the credit only if I took the more expensive one I had initially chosen which I did not want. I declined and then the rep took my old receipt and wrote "VOID" on it and attempted to retain it to "Send to [redacted]" as he stated. I asked him why he did that when he has already taken my money and that was MY receipt for monies I already paid to their establishment.Desired Settlement: I would like my $40.00 credit applied to my new purchase since there were no limitations set on this layaway regarding time of pick-up. I intended to pick up the newest product in one-month's time so that I could incorporate it into my business.
