We performed a sewer test and found that the customer needed major repairs based on the the test we ran.We gave the customer options for repair, and he was going to get back with us.The customer hired another plumbing to do the repair which is his right as its his money. He called us and told us he hired another plumber to do the work based on our test at a cheaper price. We can't justify other companies pricing and can't tell you if they did the same type of work we quoted. The customer chose to hire another company and we don't believe we did anything wrong. He called up here demanding a refund for all the testing , and we gladly sent him $of the $he spent for customer moral , but its unfair to hire us to do a service we complete the service that we were hired to do and demand a full refund because you don't like the outcome of the testing. For example if you agree to get x rays on your arm because you think its broken and agree to pay $4oo to determine the cost to repair that are and don't like the estcost to repair you usually don't get the $back, because he felt we were trying to screw him we wanted to make it right te best we can.Boils down to it he hired us for testing we performed the testing gave him an estimate for repairs based on those test If he decided to hire another plumber to do the work he has the right, but if he says the work he paid the other company wasn't needed the real question is why did they charge him?

I am rejecting this response because:This is really quite simple....Excalibur either didn't do the test right or outright lied about the test results...the test results they provided were flat wrong.  So, I had to pay 400$ for a test from them that was wrong and the additional money to have the repairs done.  A reputable company would take accountability (through refund of the cost of the bad test and ensuing cost of work) for having provided bad service and causing the ensuing extra work and costs to occur. To refute their response in more detail:Excalibur says "We performed a sewer test and found that the customer needed major repairs based on the the test we ran." - Correct, but their test was in error..>Why should I have to pay for a test that was wrong?...my regular plumber and I didn't discover this until after the part had been removed...we decided to test it anyway and found that there was no leak to begin with.  Excalibur did a shoddy job testing and indicated there was a problem when there wasn't.Excalibur says "We can't justify other companies pricing and can't tell you if they did the same type of work we quoted. The customer chose to hire another company and we don't believe we did anything wrong." - True, I did hire another company because a $4k quote to do the work is unethical and trying to take advantage of the public consumer.  Now, if Excalibur had quoted $1200-1500, then ok, that it is the realm of some kind of reasonableness even though it is higher than what my plumber charged.  Excalibur could easily justify having a cost 50% or even 100% higher.  But, 10 times higher?  Any normal person knows to call that gouging. Excalibur says "He called up here demanding a refund for all the testing" - Not true.  I clearly stated on the phone that I would pay the visual inspection fee (which I did) and that I only wanted a refund for the shoddy pressure test which showed a leak when there wasn't one.  I also asked politely for a refund of the money it cost me to have my plumber do the work.  I would not have had to pay my plumber to do the work if their test wasn't incorrect.Excalibur says "but its unfair to hire us to do a service we complete the service that we were hired to do and demand a full refund because you don't like the outcome of the testing" - completely false.  I was fine with the outcome of the testing.  The outcome provided was wrong....there was no leak when they said there was.  Since they screwed up and cost me extra money they should be accountable for that.Excalibur says "or example if you agree to get x rays on your arm because you think its broken and agree to pay $4oo to determine the cost to repair that are and don't like the est. cost to repair you usually don't get the $400 back, because he felt we were trying to screw him we wanted to make it right te best we can."  - Wrong again.  To use their analogy - They xrayed the arm and said it was broken and needed surgery to repair it.  So, the surgeon cuts open your arm and finds that the arm isn't broken at all.  So, as a result, the company that did the shoddy x ray should refund the full cost of the xray (not partial as is the case here) as well as the $1000 cost of the surgeon.Excalibur says "Boils down to it he hired us for testing we performed the testing gave him an estimate for repairs based on those test.  If he decided to hire another plumber to do the work he has the right, but if he says the work he paid the other company wasn't needed the real question is why did they charge him?"   --- I explained this on the phone to them and in the complaint here.  I and my plumber relied on their test results just like the surgeon in the above analogy.  We replaced the parts that their test said needed replacing at almost 1/10th the cost.  Then, after the part had been removed, we decided to test it out of curiosity since we were all shocked at Excalibur's quote to repair....consequently, after the test, the part passed the test and we knew Excalibur's test was wrong.
