Excel Custom Contractors

We hired Excel Custom Contractors to oversee having new siding put on our house. It was a difficult project, because our house has many angles and areas that go in and out. The work was done promptly, especially given the winter weather, and looks fantastic! We couldn't be more pleased.

Review: We signed a contract with Excel on 9-11-13 and provided them with a down payment of 5,600.00, after a few phone calls work began on 10-3-13 to stablize an upper deck for safety , remove a bottom deck, pour concrete, and replace all railings on upper deck, in between steps to lower patio and rebuild the veranda and railings to the patio with composite wood. Work was to be complete in 2-3 weeks. At first work was steady, but as time went on , I began having concerns with the work not being done the way we discussed. It began slowly with no return calls, and not showing up. Then there was an issue with the concrete and the pitching, so it was immediately repoured . We paid our halfway payment required of 3233.00 and an additional 540.00 to have the concrete colored to a medium brown. The first pour seemed to be the right color, but the second pour definitely did not look the same. I had issues with the measurements, which consisted of numerous phone calls to [redacted]. All of a sudden work stopped for 3 weeks. Call after call and text msg's to [redacted], were not being returned, I'd call the main office, no return calls from [redacted] finally called me at work and we discussed the concrete, He came out on a Sat to review with the original measurments, and said to me I see what you mean, he spoke with [redacted], and again after days, finally called me back at work to tell me it had to stay that way since I singed off on the drawings, changes were made without me knowing. This issue had been resolved after numerous calls and no call backs, finally I discussed with [redacted] . [redacted] came to my house again on 11-23-13 to explain the measurements and we agreed to leave as is and to begin work again after the previous 3 weeks of no speaking or working,. I was told work would be completed by Thanksgiving . Additional supplies were supposed to have been delivered to the house , none ever was, That Monday 11-26-13 again he promised work would begin ,again no show, and no work complete by Thanksgiving as promised. I continued to call [redacted], no call back, for days. I texted him and I continued to get no response. On Monday 12-9-13 work began again for only 3 days. He has not been back since. I texted [redacted] to find out what is going on he responded 1 time saying supplies needed to re ordered AGAIN. AS of yet, no supplies are delivered and no one has shown up to work. I continue to call every day, no call back, I have Texted [redacted] 3 times, no response. So, it has now been 3 months since signing the contract . Work is incomplete ,they continue to avoid phone calls. We do not get any updates of any kind, they just don't show up to work . The cement color is pink, not a medium brown. They require us to wait 28 days to let the color come thru , This was poured on 10-20-13. It has passed the 28 days. I have requested in writing an agreement if the cement does not change to the desired color of medium brown, it will be replaced. No response on that,. Wood and debris are laying in my backyard. I would like my work finished, and my cement addressed. I am very unhappy with the lack of professionalism that this company shows us. The inability to complete work at the intended dates, and the lack of courtesy to return phone calls.They have our money, We want our work complete!Desired Settlement: complete the unfinished work and all agreed upon details such as on site clean up asap. Repairs to pass final inspection, and provide the desired cement color that we paid an additional 540.00 for. In addition, if the cement cannot be repoured now due to cold weather, I would like in writing an agreement if the color does not turn to the desired color after 28 days, (which it hasn't) it will be repoured.

we met on 2/15/14 and discussed the ‘issues’ they have brought up. We also agreed to just wait until the weather breaks and the snow melts to really assess the issues they brought up.
