Review: This company took advantage of a senior citizen and charged her $500 for changing one lock. At 85 years old, and upon returning from the supermarket on 2/**. [redacted] was unable to get into her apartment as her key was not working in the deadbolt lock. She called 311 to get a phone number for a locksmith to assist her after her apartment management told her they could not help her. She was connected to Excel Locksmith who sent a tech out. The tech arrived, examined the door and drilled the lock. After drilling, he informed [redacted] that she needed to have the lock changed because something was bent in the cylinder. He told her it would cost $470 if she paid in cash but if she used her credit card it would be over $500 because he would need to add tax. She provided her credit and proceeded to install a new lock. After he provided a generic receipt that doesn't even have any business information (except where the tech manually wrote it in). for the following charges:

- Service Call : $29

- Drill out Lock: $159

- Install 1 Jimmy P.: $149

- Install 1 RimJr. Cylinder: $75

- Labor - $59

It's clear that he overcharged/installed a more expensive lock than necessary. On top of everything, the tech didn't even do a good job and had to come back the next day to tighten the lock. It's unacceptable if they are overcharging people in general much less an elderly person who is home alone. We will be disputing this charge.Desired Settlement: A complete refund and they can come and remove the lock.

Review: This locksmith has overcharged for a service. I called them up and they came over, and disclosed verbally that their services to fix the lock would cost $200. I verbally agreed, and the man proceeded to work on my lock. He was there for an hour and I was not sure what he was doing and was not explaining things well. Afterwards, he tallied up the bill and said it was $429.13. In shock, I asked him to explain. He again was not clear on the explanation and mentioned something about high security lock. Unsure of everything, I provided him my credit card, thinking I could call [redacted] of company in the morning and sort it all out. In the meantime, the locksmith said he would text my credit card number to the company. I did not agree. He then wrote it down quickly and left. The next morning, I spoke to the [redacted] who said he would come down to my unit to see what was done. When he arrived, he said that the locksmith put a high security lock (even though it did not need one nor did I request one) and that's why there is a higher charge and that opening the door was only $200 not including putting the lock. Hearing this I was outraged. I told him to please put a regular lock and I would be willing to pay $300 for the total work because the locksmith acting unethically not disclosing proper amount and putting a high-end lock on my door. He finally agreed and said I would get refunded in 2-3 days. It was now been past one week and I have not seen a refund. I am disputing this charge with my credit card company. Furthermore, I got an alert from my credit card company that there was fraudulent activity - I have no doubt this is due to the fact the locksmith wrote down my credit card number and left. This is beyond unprofessional service and and unlawful as far as I'm concerned!Desired Settlement: I would like the refund of $229.00 back on my credit card, so the total is $200.00 - the cost the locksmith quoted during time of service.
