Excelsior GSD / JCE Developers?

Review: I am a ** year old victim of Superstorm Sandy. I hired JCE contracting company to repair my home in April. In September of 2013 I was finally able to move back into my home. At that time, the repairs that I had paid for were not complete. They have been paid in full. I was told that they would be back to finish their work. I speak to their representative ([redacted] ###-###-####)on a weekly basis. He promises that they will be back but they never show up. I have had heating problems, plumbing problems, painting not completed, windows installed improperly, cement work around the outside of the house incomplete, the wood flooring throughout the home is unsatisfactory. Due to a radiator leak the wood floor in the bedroom has been damaged and needs replacing, the toilet is leaking, the grout in the bathroom is two different colors, the kitchen cabinets are missing shelves. I think that I have been more than patient before reporting this. to take advantage of a ** year old woman at a time like this is unscrupulous.Desired Settlement: I would like the required repairs to be completed or money returned so that I can hire someone to complete the required work.

In response to the claimants complaint, please review the statement below

All contracted and agreed upon work was completed. [redacted] is not the complainant in this matter. Her daughter [redacted] is the individual unhappy with the work. When agreed upon all materials were to be economy grade (builder grade) industry standard materials. During renovation [redacted] insisted upon higher grade materials. Every effort was made to satisfy requests at no additional charges. In addition [redacted] put our company under constant pressure to complete job faster than estimated. In our estimation the work was completed in a timely fashion.

In response to the heating problems; No heating system can be fully tested until the whole system is fully pressurized. In this situation with the heating boiler located on the second floor of the residence the process of bleeding all of the air out of the radiators can be challenging. The issue with the heating system was resolved immediately when the complainant’s daughter called us to make a complaint. In addition we made a second trip to the house to ensure the heat was working and make a repair to one of the joints on a radiator. The two owners of [redacted] were at the residence for two to three hours one evening from approximately 7pm to 10:30pm on Friday November [redacted] , 2013 to address this issue.

We have not been informed and are not aware of any plumbing problems.

All painting of the residence has been completed.

All windows have been installed properly during the construction. They are top quality Pella brand new construction type wood windows.

The Cement work around the house which was not included in any estimate and not charged for was completed.

The wood flooring was installed by a reputable flooring contractor. It may be possible that [redacted] does not like the quality of the flooring materials but it is a quality industry standard pre-finished wood flooring material.

We have not been informed of a toilet leak.

Grout in bathroom is two types of grout, one type for floors and one type for walls of the same color code. It may be possible that the colors look different due to the fact one is a sanded grout and one is a non-sanded grout.

[redacted] has fulfilled all contractual obligations on the residence located at [redacted]. We are confident that all work proposed and contracted for was completed by satisfactory industry standards. In addition, there was a substantial amount of work completed above and beyond what was contracted for including but not limited to the addition of providing and installing all interior doors, the addition of closet interiors, the addition of a tile backsplash in the kitchen area, additional tile above contracted amount, additional cabinetry above contracted amount.

In addition, our company provided materials above the original contract at no extra charge including; bathroom vanity cabinet, kitchen countertop, faucets, and medicine cabinet.

Additionally in our original proposal there were only two (2) interior doors, when in fact we installed nine (9) interior doors including two sets of closet sliders as well as a pantry door.

We feel the complaints are unwarranted as we completed much more then the original contracted work.
