Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The Original Estimate was $for the work that we requested to be doneWe Approved $with our driverOur Driver stated he gave them my name and fax number for any further charges and informationThey faxed the Estimate of $on Tuesday and had already done most of the work before sending that new estimate, by the time I spoke with *** on Wednesday they had almost completed all of the work to where we had no way of telling them whether it was approved or notI told *** Wednesday that no one approved the estimate and that I did not understand any of the charges considering none of the work was discussed with usShe stated that she would discuss everything with the owner and find out what all was being done and why and would continue to contact me back and not the driverI never heard from her againShe continued to contact our driver and never discussed anything with meI then received the bill Thursday morning for $4287.95, once again without any notice from or approval to the trucking companyWe were completely shocked and bombarded and then told we have no choice but to pay for the work or take the truck back.
We ourselves are a small business and took our only truck in for service on an estimate of $and without any opportunity to say no they fixed what they felt they should and sent the bill for almost $without approval after the truck was completely torn apart and already fixed.
Even looking at the *** Attorney General Website it states that "If the repair costs more than $25, ask for a written estimateYour permission is required if the cost is more than percent of the original estimate." ***
They were told to contact myself by my driver with my fax number and direct line for any changes from the $2200. They never did until they sent the final billThe only estimate that was approved was the one for $We would like that estimate plus the 10% the attorney general suggests to be our bill.
Final Total to pay - $ 2420.00
Regards,

On
Monday 6/2/14 complaintant's driver called in asking if we could do an...

LOF
service, DOT inspection, A/C issues and has an oil leak could we please check
it. I explained that not sure if we could get him in let me call you right back.
So I [redacted], checked for him and called him right back. Told the driver that we
could look at the truck he stated "Great, I will turn around and come back".
When he returned I [redacted] stated "don't worry about a ride I will take you where
you need to go". Our owner said our rate is $85 an hour we will give you a call
when we figure something out for you. He said great I know this tractor needs a
lot of work. I [redacted] took him and dropped him back at his
company.
Our
mechanic started figuring out where the leak was coming from and found the rear
engine seal leaking and the clutch springs where broke. At this point the
tractor couldn't pass DOT inspection. Our owner called the driver and said for a
new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, fly wheel turned plus the seal
and oil that would be estimated at
$2200.00. So at this point nothing else had been done. Driver stated go ahead with the work. A
short time later driver called me back and asked me approximately when the truck
would be done? he then said are you looking at Tuesday night or Wednesday? I
[redacted] said "wow your pretty much dead on with that time frame". He says I know
how much work is needed. I said yes, your right.
On
Tuesday evening driver called asking how the work was coming? I said they are
working on it due to we made you a priority. He said his boss told him to call
us and insist that we work on this truck all night if need be and he didn't
care how much it cost. He said I can't ask those people to do that. I [redacted]
explained that we can only work as fast as we get the parts and we are doing our
best. Our goal is for accuracy, not how fast we can do it. He started saying
that these people take advantage of everyone and they expect
you to do whatever they say that's why I'm quitting, I just could say sorry to
hear that. I then asked him who to fax an adjusted estimate of $3850.92 to
because we did NOT want anyone back doored. He told me well be prepared for her
to give you a hard time. He gave me a fax number and in turn I submitted it and
never heard back from anyone until
Wednesday
morning from their billings person who was very, very rude to me and stated that
was not the price that was quoted and that is was said to be done on Tuesday
evening. I stated that this was not the case at all. I tried to explain
everything to her and we really don't know how much things are gonna be until we
get into it. I tried to explain to her that I sent the updated estimate because
she kept referring back to the $2200.00. I kept trying to explain that was just
for clutch work. She stated well I wasn't here. And I'm looking at it now and I
said ok, She asked when will the truck be done? I asked the mechanic and he
stated as long as everything goes well hopefully by noon. I relayed that message
to her. The
driver called in before noon on Wednesday and talked to the owner and was asking
about the time frame on completion. He explained to him the problems they were
running into and said [redacted] come in about four we are doing our best. The driver
arrived and was out in the shop area well aware of the issues that the mechanics
were running into. The driver said I am glad you guys are fixing it right
because we had it at a dealer and they didn't say crap about any of the
problems. I said well we're a small shop and that's what we pride ourselves on.
The guys test drove the truck everything was working properly and they told the
driver he was good to go. We told him he could pick up the DOT inspection form
and sticker in the morning since he had to go. And I was faxing the bill over to
the ladyin the billings dept. The
driver walked in our office on Thursday morning for his DOT inspection sticker
and form. He was on the phone with the lady in the billing dept. and he told her
that the truck was running the best that it ever had ran. In good faith
we allowed the truck to leave our shop without payment. A
short time after the lady in the billings dept. called and immediately said "I
have this bill and it's not what was allowed" I stated to her that I would have
the owner contact her right back to explain the bill. He in turn called her
right back and he tried to explain what was she was looking at and at that point
she got extremely rude with him and she wasn't listening to what he was saying
and he said here is [redacted]. I got on the phone and she stated I DIDN'T ask for
you! at first I said I understand you didn't but we need to figure this out
about payment and she still continued to be just as rude and nasty as the very
first time we spoke. I at that point got offended and just said "we could of
started working on it and instead of fixing things as we went along we could of
just put broke stuff back" but that is not how we do things. Our name is on this
when it leaves. From there I proceeded to ask her how are you going to take care
of the invoice because there just was NO talking nice with her. She said the
person that takes care of it wasn't in and she had to talk to her boss and they
weren't open on Fridays. She at this time said we pay in 30 day net and I
explained to her that they were a new company that we don't know and we are a
small business that can't go out 30 days that she just assumed we could. I again
explained we were talking to the driver and he said he was telling you, She
stated well he put in his notice and didn't have the authority. I said well I
have nothing to do with that and never at any time that we have spoken did you
ever mention this. So I agree there was lack of communication and that was their
internal matter. But said she would get me an answer by the end of the day and
just never called us back. We
are a business that prides ourselves on our customer service and helping anyone
when we can. Just as we did with taking the driver back to his company so they
didn't have to worry about it. Our goal is to get trucks in an out in a timely
matter along with being very professional. We have a great reputation in this
field and with all the businesses locally along with all over the country. We
would never now or ever treat people unkindly.
Unfortunatly there are times like this that you
can't please everyone! The
total bill in question is $4287.95 The estimated quote given $3850.92 Difference
of $437.03 Please
feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions or concerns.
