Review: This company tried to overcharge me by $20 to pick up my car and then became very hostile when I questioned their policies. They have their prices listed on a board outside and simple math told me they were charging me more than they should, and even charged me for two days of service even though my car was on the lot for less than 24 hours. The scam is that they charge $95 to pick up your car after 5PM or two daily service fees of $50 if you wait until morning to pick it up. Either way they are up another $100. My car also has deep scratches from where the workman attached the towing harness.Desired Settlement: I'd like this company to pay the cost of repairing my vehicle and I'd appreciate it if the office staff would accurately quote prices. I'd also like them to stop keeping alcohol in plain view of the customers while claiming to be contacted with a government agency.

Review: On 1/21/16, my car was towed around 3:40pm. I called the towing company trying to find the address where my car was towed. The customer service representative was so rude and unprofessional. She gave me the address376 Trousdale Dr. Chula Vista, 91910. She kept saying that I needed to be there at 5pm and she won't be sitting there waiting for me. I stopped someone from the street, I offered him $100 to take me to the location. In the middle of the freeway, the same person calls me to let me know that the driver changed his mind and he will be towing my car to a different location. 7304 Mission Gorge Rd. SD. I asked her why, she said to call the driver and ask him. I called the driver, he pointed out that he didn't have the answer. Since it was already late and I was in the middle of nowhere rush hr. I had to pay another $100 for him to drive me to the Mission Gorge. In the mean time, I sent my daughter to go to Mission Gorge and take care of the car. She get there around 5:15pm, they were rude to her. They refused to allow her to pay even though her name is on the registration. Around 6pm, I got to the location, everything was closed. I kept calling the number they have on the wall and they kept telling me that they are driving somewhere and they will be back. When the driver arrived to the site, I asked him why my car was driven all the way to Mission Gorge when it was supposed to go to Chula Vista. He said I don't know, but you can ask the manager tomorrow. I paid $347 for the towing company and $200 for the driver to take me to Chula Vista then Mission Gorge. Today 1/22/16, around 10:30am, I called the manager for the towing company and asked him why my car was towed to Mission Gorge instead of Chula Vista since I was in the area. He said "the driver has the option to tow the car wherever he feels like it" I asked him "why did they gave me the address to Chula Vista in the first place instead of Mission Goerge?". He said " I don't have an answer for you".Desired Settlement: I need the business to apologize for their way of treating me as a customer and refund me the extra fees they charged me, because they sent me to a different address then they called with a new address.

I felt that I was treated without respect and neglect. I was manipulated and cheated. I hope that the company will learn how to treat customers.

I was not socializing, I was helping a disabled single mom find out how she can get back her baby from the system. I've made a mistake and parked my car in someone else's space even though I left a note with my phone number on my car to call me so I can remove my car. But my mistake does not give the towing company the right to punish me too. I think to be stranded in an unsafe area, paying $237 and dealing with the worst customer service people on earth are enough punishment.

Review: My husband and I were in an accident that had resulted in him passing away. His motorcycle had been towed by Expedite Towing that same day. When I had tried contacting the company to obtain my husbands motorcycle, they informed me that I was not listed on the registration and that in order to get the vehicle back, I would need a power of attorney. Being that my husband's power of attorney had expired, I went to several law offices all of which told me that it is completely impossible to obtain a power of attorney unless my husband were physically here to agree to it. Since there is clearly no way that my husband could give consent since he had passed away, I had contacted the towing company several times trying to find out my other options. They told me that legally, that was the ONLY way they could release the bike to me, but yet if I didn't get it out, I would be held liable for paying all fees for towing, storage, the lien fee, and selling fee. I finally found an attorney that was going to help me so he contacted the company directly and asked what I was supposed to do. At that time, the story had changed COMPLETELY! Expedite Towing explained to my attorney that all I would need would be my marriage certificate, my husband's death certificate, and a hold harmless claim stating that I would not hold their company responsible for any damages to the bike or anybody on the bike once it left their lot. This is something that they could have told me when I personally went up there to talk to them just three days after the accident rather than almost a MONTH later when my attorney talked to them. I was finally able to obtain every piece of paper needed to get the motorcycle, so I went up there to get it out. They didn't even look at my marriage certificate or my husband's death certificate. They only asked for my license and the hold harmless. Why couldn't this have happened when I FIRST asked what I would need? They ended up charging me $1,885.00 to get my husband's motorcycle out and said that the price was firm and nonnegotiable. Rather than arguing and delaying the process even more, I paid it and left. This is completely poor practice and they should be ashamed at how they treated me that entire time. Telling me that I couldn't get the bike out, but yet I would be responsible for all the fees? How does that make sense?! I would also like to add in there that when the motorcycle was first towed, they wouldn't tell me a single detail about the bike when I asked. Once they put a lien on the bike, they magically were able to tell me that the bike was not drivable and was completely totaled. But yet when I went to pick up the bike myself, someone physically drove the motorcycle off the lot. How is it totaled and not drivable if you're able to turn it on, sit on it, and DRIVE IT?! After bringing it home, looking at it myself, and having others look at the motorcycle, it is VERY clear that the bike has very minimal damage and is not totaled by any means. I think it would be safe to say that the company was trying to pull the wool over my eyes and take advantage of me at a VERY sensitive time in my life all to make a quick buck. If they had sold that bike at their auction AND gotten me to pay the fees, they would have made a killing!Desired Settlement: I feel that Expedite Towing should refund me some of that money. Maybe not all of it, but definitely at least half. Like I had mentioned, I physically went up to speak with them three days after the accident and was given the run around until my attorney made the phone call. If they had been honest and up front from the get-go, I could have had all of the correct paperwork needed to get that motorcycle out within a week at max rather than having to wait a month and have all of those charges racked up.

Case#[redacted]

To whom it may concern,

This letter is regards to Mrs. [redacted]’s claim. Mrs. [redacted] contacted Expedite Towing about her husband’s motorcycle that was put in our possession at the request of the California Highway Patrol due to it being in an accident. Mrs. [redacted] explained to us that her husband had passed away during this accident and wanted to know what she needed to retrieve the motorcycle from our storage facility. The dispatcher informed her that there were 3 ways of retrieving the motorcycle from our facility. (1) She would need to be the registered owner of the motorcycle. (2) She would need a notarized letter from the registered owner of the motorcycle. Or (3) she would need to go to a notary and have a “Hold Harmless” signed by Mrs. [redacted] herself and stamped and notarized by a notary, stating she will not hold us accountable for loss or any type of damages once the motorcycle leaves our facility. Days later a gentleman claiming to be Mr. [redacted]’s sergeant called the office asking what Mrs. [redacted] could do about picking up the vehicle from our facility. The gentleman was explained the same thing as Mrs. [redacted] and was given the only 3 options that are company procedures when releasing a vehicle in this type of situation. We at Expedite Towing are very sorry for the loss of Mrs. [redacted]’s husband but we are sorry to inform you that we will not be refunding partial nor full refund to Mrs. [redacted]. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this case.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Expedite Towing

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Expedite Towing has blatantly lied in their response. They are stating that I was giving three different options on how to retrieve my husbands motorcycle which is entirely not true. I was only given one and that was to retrieve a power of attorney. That changed when my attorney contacted them. I even have 2 different witnesses to them stating to me that the only way to take ownership of my husbands motorcycle was a POA. One being a friend who heard our entire phone conversation and another being my uncle who had attempted to contact the company FOR me to see if he could get some answers. They had told my uncle the same exact story of needing a power of attorney. I think it is completely unfair that I had to pay as much as I did to get my husbands motorcycle back after almost a month when my attorney finally contacted them. I could have gotten the motorcycle after a week, maybe two, of it being impounded. I had asked for a partial refund and they have refused. I hate having someone try to make a liar out of me. I was completely being taken advantage of in the worst time of my life. How dare they.

IM SORRY THAT SHE FEELS THAT WAY BUT WE EXPLANIED TO HER WHAT SHES HAD TO DO TO PICK UP THE BIKE EVER TIME SHE CALLED US .

Review: expedite towing illegally came on our private proprety and towed my vehicle, my vehicle was parked in space number 34, the operator or driver first advised me that my did not have parking permit tag which is always visible on the back of my vehicle kia optima. , Assembly Bill 2210 (Goldberg, Chapter 609, Statutes of 2006) protects consumers against illegal towing, I went to their local towing yard, as I called the driver/operator he addressed me as "bro" I thought I had called the wrong number provided to me by the operator of the towing company so I politely asked the operator if in fact he is the tow truck driver he confirmed this but continued to speak in street slang and slurs. after 10 minutes he erratically pulled up almost side swiping my other vehicle, he offered no acknowledgement of this fact and jumped out again addressing me as "bro". I explained to I am the one that called to get my car out he asked for my license and registration I advised him my registration is in the car in his yard, he said he didn't like that and said we are closed he got back in his truck and took off. I had to call the chula vista police department and report the fact that even he just told me they are open he lied to expedite fees and emotional distress I had to two call the driver back in order for the police to explain to him it is illegal to intentionally cause fees and ditress so the driver did return however he over charged me and would not release my vehicle unless I paid him $332.

this driver was fighting with me every second in order to further intimidate and cause more distress, I remained calmed paid him until the police got there and I have an incident number when I go to small claims court. the driver's name is [redacted] and he works at the mission gorge location. this driver spoke to me in gang slang he tried to intimidate me however I explained to him my rights, . Reasonable Gate Fee The gate fee, or maximum hourly charge for releasing a vehicle after normal businesDesired Settlement: I want all of my money back and I do not want to see that company on my property ever.

Review: On 12/15/13 4:40 PM I was towed from my sisters residence which is on private property for being double parked. The only persons I was blocking was my own sister and brothers vehicle. When speaking with the police department I was informed that when being towed from private property someone has to call it in, the tow truck driver cannot just drive around towing cars. When I picked up my vehicle they provided the name [redacted] who supposively called this in, when checking with my sister who is a resident she informed me this is the property manager who does not live on the premasis. She is located in Poway and the number provided was a fax number. When I went to pick up my vehicle, the company refused to provide me with the written report of who reported this, the way I found out was because I saw the name and phone number of the person of the drivers document of when he towed my vehicle. They would only provide me a receipt for what I paid. We have been doing some personal investigating on this company for the past week they have been driving in and out of the complex looking for vehicles to tow. We have taken pictures of them going in and out of the complex looking for these vehicles. I can provide these if needed. This day I was towed I parked there to pick up my daughter who my sister was watching who has autism and was harming her self. I have a handicap place card which I had placed on my vehicle. Either this company is falsely using the managers name and number and someone who so called these vehicles in or they have an illegal operation with the manager which she is giving them the permission to use her name to let them tow vehicles. I want this looked into. I also will be filling a complaint with the SD attorneys office against this company. I went and looked up the laws for the towing on private property and they are breaking the law. I want to be refunded the money $340 that I paid for having my vehicle illegally towed that day.
