Expert Contractors Reviews (%countItem)

This company is a group of scam artists committing illegal work! STAY CLEAR!

We hired *** and the Expert Contractors in August of 2019 and were told it would take 90 days to complete a roughly 1000 sqft commercial ***. As of June of 2020, we were forced to terminate Expert Contractors to correct the work done by *** and Team and complete the project.

*** claims to be have been in business for 30 years. His father may have started the business 30 years ago, but *** has maybe less than 5 years’ experience. *** made multiple claims that his father had passed away a few years back and left *** the business. *** is also not a licensed contractor and is falsely using a license belonging to *** (***), whom we never met.

At the beginning of the project, we signed a contract and paid a 40% deposit via check. It was my first red flag when I then got a call from my bank that someone was at the branch trying to CASH (not deposit) a $62,000 check.

After just 2 weeks, it was apparent that *** would not make the deadline set. He continuously urged us not to worry and that we were still on track. His crew would come to work for 2 days, and then not be seen again for 2 weeks. We would then call *** who insisted things were moving along and that he was just waiting on materials.

*** and his business partner/foreman, ***, were very rarely on site, leaving their workers and subcontractors to do the work. This wouldn’t have been a problem had they been more skilled; however there were tremendous communication barriers which prohibited following the blueprints. Without *** and *** there to translate, we were left to rely on *** to communicate with the individuals working on our project.

*** would also leave for weeks on end, taking vacations around the world all while our project remained in pieces with nobody to work on it while he was gone. In a matter of a three months he took 2 trips to ***, 1 trip to ***, 1 trip to ***, and another trip to ***. And that is just what I remember off the top of my head. What someone does in their personal life in most circumstances would not effect a business review, but ***’s personal life hindered his ability to complete our project.
The Expert Contractors would often request to meet with me on site to review plans, and then blow me off while I sat on site for the entire day waiting on them. Often times I would then receive a condescending message when I would ask why they didn’t show up to an agreed upon meeting time.

After numerous empty promises and extended deadlines, we terminated our agreement with *** and The Expert Contractors in November of 2019. We then agreed to allow ***’ business partner, ***, to complete the job as long as *** would have nothing to do with the project. *** explained that they had a number of special ordered materials that they already placed deposits on. Several weeks later, it became evident that *** was not aware of the initial $62,000 deposit that we made to Expert Contractors and was led to believe by ***, that we had only paid $28,000 to date. *** cashed the check and did not record the payment with the Expert Contractors.

For a couple of months, all seemed to be well and things were moving along under ***’s direction. *** then began to lose interest and started to leave many things unfinished and stopped returning our calls. In Mid-March, we contacted the plumbing, electric and building inspectors to schedule the inspections needed. This is when the numerous shortcuts taken by the Expert Contractors (both *** and ***) came to light. Their activity was not only deceptive, but illegal.

I will spare you the full details of the numerous violations that were not up to code and could have resulted in serious injuries and/or death. It was discovered that their subtractors were working without licenses and were only able to obtain permits by falsifying documents.

We have since cut ties with The Expert Contractors and brought in new contractor to finish out the project. It has been a much better experience working with the new contractor, one that knows what they are doing. It amplifies the unprofessionalism, lack of skill, and overall unpleasant experience it was working with *** and ***. With each layer we peel back, it reveals another corner that *** and *** cut causing more and more money out of our pocket.

I would not recommend The Expert Contractors to anyone due to their unprofessionalism, lack of accountability and deceitful business practices. I hope that *** and *** never scam anyone again like they did us. After reading this review, I hope you reconsider The Expert Contractors. If by chance you still think hiring this company is a good idea, I just ask you proceed with extreme caution and have a good lawyer on standby.

Thank you. Your feedback is very Important to us. We have a couple comments that we would like to coment on.1. In the paragraph above it states that we used short cuts to obtain permits. That is incorrect. *** work’s with us and he went himself to the building department to pull the permit for the builders permit. Plumbing permit was pulled by ***. Electrical permit was pulled by ***.2. In November of 2019 you guys asked to terminate me, Because no work was being done. Fortunately or Unfortunately we were at the phase of the project where we needed the flooring to be delivered to be able to continue. If we went further and did the work without the flooring being there that would be cutting corners. I also remember the same day I have received a termination text from you guys, was the same day I received the confirmation from the store that the flooring has arrived. I also let you guys know that VIA TEXT MESSAGE.3. Also it was mentioned above that there was a bunch of things things that didnt meet code on the finals inspection. Which I find it very odd, Because I myself was present for all rough inspections, Which they all passed the first time. Which I also have copy of the permit signed off on the rough.4. Once you guys have decided you did not want me in the property and *** took over the project I made sure that since *** owner of the *** has made a big payment to us. It would only be fair enough for me to fund the project until the end. That is what I did. Ever since day 1. From Rough to finishes. Me *** owner of the expert contractors has funded everything for the ***. I have receipts for all the materials and all checks payable to workers that has worked in the job site until the end. The last payment I have made regarding the *** project was to the granite store. “ Red quartz” In the Amount of 8k. I am not sure what you have heard, But every check that it gets payable to us “The Expert Contractors” I send a picture to *** right away so he can plan to buy the materials needed to start the project. First check I have received from you guys was a check of 62k as an initial down payment. I cash majority of the big checks because my bank puts a hold on it for a couple days. It was cashed by me. Also after that I decided to show good faith to mr *** and told him instead of him giving me an additional 30% he could pay me 10k a week once he see’s weekly progress, if he didnt sed progress that week he didnt have to pay me. After the 62k Mr *** gave me 30k of weekly checks of 10k. I have all the text messaging here arranging to pick it up with him. It was mentioned above that I have Stole 62k from you guys. That is a very strong and serious accusation I can proove that All 92k payable to me the expert contractors was used in your project. I cant be responsible for what other people say. But I can be responsible for my actions! 5. I was always in touch with *** and ***. To make sure all the money payable to me was put back into the project. Not my interest to keep no customers money. Best Regards. ***.

In response the ***'s rebuttle, I would like to dispute his claims with a number of Facts: Thank you. Your feedback is very Important to us. We have a couple comments that we would like to coment on.1. I have attached a message from ***, the owner stating that he himself pulled the permit online, not this ***. In addition, the *** Building Inspector *** confirmed with myself and my attorney that he never met ***. *** mentions that the plumber that pulled the permit was ***, however, *** as well as ***, the *** Plumbing inspector, both can vouch for the fact that two unlicensed plumbers we called in to complete the plumbing work after the rough plumbing inspection was completed. *** was actually the one who contacted *** for the plumbing inspection on March 25th, which was after the work had been done by the unlicensed plumbers. The electrician that was in that did all the work was not the individual who showed up for the electrical inspection. I believe *** was the individual that was on site for the electrical inspection but had never set foot on site before that date. *** locked the basement door to prohibit the electrical inspection from seeing a number of cut corners. We had to then bring in another electrician to fix all the electrical hazards caused *** and ***.2. In November of 2019 We have terminated ***. ***'s business partner begged us to finish the work as they had already invested money into the project. We complied and said we don't want *** around the project anymore and never want to hear his name again. We stated if he stepped foot on the property, he would be arrested for trespassing. If *** was actually fired, why does he say at the bottom he was in touch with *** and *** the whole time?3. This is a faulty statement to say he was onsite for all inspections. For the plumbing and electrical inspections, you asked me or my guy to be there for. For the framing inspection, *** was there, not you. The violations were mainly caused by your illegal plumbers. The *** Plumbing Inspector didn't make it out of the basement before shutting down the job site for an unvented water heater. "If this was run, it would have killed people". This is a direct quote from the Plumbing Inspector whom you booked the appointment for. 4. To say you funded the project is another lie. We personally had to pay for a number of expenses from corners you had cut. Your business partner made it very clear you stole $62,000. You can deny that statement but it is a fact.5. You have stolen money and made many empty promises. It is my mission in life to ensure you never scam anyone else like you did us. You are nothing but a used cars salesmen.
We had to bring in many other contractors to fix your mistakes. I hope you are aware of how each and every person laughs at your work and the fact you consider yourself a contractor. I believe in karma and one day, I believe your illegal acts will catch up to you.

You can provide receipts that you contributed to the construction but you did not fund it until the finish which is what the contract required. We needed to seek the help of a real contractor to get our occupancy permit. Additionally, you cannot provide receipts for everything as we needed to pay for many add on's. We had to purchase many items that were included in the project scope, including, but not limited to, Automatic handicap door opener, glass display cases for serving counter, white tile backsplash in scooping area, backsplash in kitchen, light fixtures over serving counter, light fixtures over dine in bar top, electrical for HVAC units, repairing holes in walls of building adjacent that your team punched through and never fixed. If you paid for the entire project, you would have been the "contractor" that got us our occupancy permit. Due to your cut corners, ***, the *** Building Inspector, required us to terminate you as a contractor and bring in someone with knowledge of construction. Just think about that for a minute. The legally appointed Building Inspector of a town required we fire you and close your permit as he had such a distrust that your team would be able to finish the project.
Regards

They entered into a contract to renovate a basement. They said the project would take 45 days and would be completed by 12/22/18. As of 9/14/19 the job is still not done. In July 2019 they refused to do any more work until the owners paid them more money, and when told that the remaining payment was due when the job was completed, they abandoned the job and closed permits. Ow ers also spent thousand of dollars on matetials that these frauds were supposed to provide because they were told by the company manager that *** didnt have money to buy the materials; but he clearly had money to go to *** twice, ***, and even a *** playoff game. The quality of their work is COMPLETE TRASH. Tiles are coming off the floor in the shower, the sheetrock seams look like they werent even plastered, and the walls are crooked!!!

Thank you. Your feedback is very important to us. After looking through the files on our record diligently regarding this project, We have a few coments to provide below reagarding this project.During the whole process of this project we would communicate via text messaging regarding everything about the project. Homeowners know the first company we hired to do the foundation digging and concrete walls did not perform as they should have. We relocated our guys and finished the foundation ourselves. You guys know that from the begining we had many problems with foundation subs. The Only time *** the owner has asked for more money was when the rough inspections were signed off. Due to our contract an additional payment would be due once rough inspection has been completed. We have copy of emails setting up an appointment with homeowners to pick up the second check. Also the only time *** the owner has mentioned something about money as well with you guys was when a check payable to us from you guys came back as NSF. My manager has never said We needed money to finish this job. If that was the case *** the owner wouldve went and had a meeting with homeowner and discuss issues, as he always did. There were days the homeowners would demand him to go to the job site at 11pm or even sundays.*** owner has never been to *** play off’s in his life. *** personal life has nothing to do with this project. But *** went to *** twice for medical treatment after the loss of his father. Which his father passed away during your project. *** went to *** because that trip had already been cancelled three times due to his father illness.Materials used for the finishing of the project was selected by homeowners every details of it. Included bathroom tilling. We believe the pictures uploaded was before project was completed. Every concern homeowners had we would send our guys there to address it right away. We have text messages, pictures, videos.. Etc. Also the pictures of the leak has to do with the first company that went to do the foundation digging. We have records of us notifying you guys we wouldnt be able to sheetrock until the leak was addressed and fixed. Which was what we did.Plastering- You were in contact with my plastering sub the whole tile. As we have records of him saying he would not go back to the property because you guys would keep texting him day and night to finish the plastering Job. We assume you weere happy with the plastering job, As you have asked him multiple times to gc the whole project. Not just him but other subs as well. We had a really hard time trying to get the subs to go back to do more work because they were tired of being disturbed by homeowners. Texting them day and night while they were with families. We also have records of all the change orders That was done that was not part of the contract. *** the owner has never charged once dollar extra for that.Unfortunately this project because of many reasons and some of the reasons were specified above, Did not go as planned for both parties. But we are no “Scammers or Frauders.” We are hardworking and honest people. Please let us know if there is anything we could do to resolve this matter and frustration. Best Regards. The Expert Team.
