Expert Van Lines

Company, Expert Van Lines LLC (US DOT XXXXXXX) was contracted to move household cross country. Service men showed up with no uniforms or IDs in an unmarked U-haul truck, but had bill of landing and completed inventory list. I reluctantly let them load as they had already taken deposit and I could not get it back. Delivery was 4 days late with little to no communication from the company. Upon delivery, drivers would not unload property without payment in full in CASH. Upon unloading, 2 large items were missing, leather sofa was crushed on top and side, and every table, cabinet, and dresser has damage to corners, legs and tops. I was denied any of my money back to hold for the missing and damaged items, and when calling the company and speaking to "Alex" (not real name I'm sure), he blames "the company" and does nothing, and can not provide delivery date for missing items. Driver made a call during unloading and reported missing items were 'in the warehouse still', but Alex says he has to look for them and can't provide a delivery date.

Initial moving contract was made with a company called Quality Express Van Lines (US DOT# XXXXXXX), who is a broker and did not disclose this at the time of business agreement. They did not follow FMCSA guidelines, did not provide required rights and responsibilities documentation, and underbids competition by not including insurance, but you don't know that until after you've signed a binding agreement and given them a non-refundable deposit via ACH, so you can't stop payment. They also do not do a visual estimate and go off a list you give them over the phone, then jack up the rate when you give them a final inventory the week before the move.
