Mr. [redacted], called our store and asked to remove an illegal, old window tint from rear window on his 2003 [redacted]. We set a date to provide the work. When he dropped off his [redacted], I suggested he replace the rear window because the window tint he had in his vehicle was very old and...

baked into the glass. He denied to replace the glass, because he wanted to keep the factory glass. While we had about 1 hour working on his vehicle, I called him myself and told him his vehicle would not be ready on time, also the price will change from $175.00 to $285.00 due to the condition of the window tint which was completely baked into the glass and defrost lines, and he agreed to new charges. Also in some spots where the film was baked to the age, the defrost line was pulled by the old window tint. We have no control on certain types of window tint from dry out or cause damages on the glass or defrost lines. In the meantime I inspect the glass myself and notice some spots but nothing major. Few days later the customer called me and claims the defrost lines were not working. We discussed the problem, I explained to him and he agreed with that and that was the reason I recommended to replace the glass, but he never show the problem to us and we never able to inspect the vehicle to verify the problem.About a week later his mother called me and threatened me to refund the entire charges for the work or she will instruct her son to deny the charges to his CC and also file a small claims to the local court. I told her I wouldn’t give back any money because we provide the work and her son agrees with that.We have an invoice signed by Mr. [redacted] on 04/06/2016 at 2:47pm. Also he had asked for other services at our company and I said to him we can’t provide any more work for him till we clarify this issue. Thank you,[redacted]

Mr. [redacted] is distorting the facts and not telling the truth throughout his response.  First of all, the glass on the car is not illegal.  The car was purchased from a [redacted] dealer and has passed inspection for 5 years.  While Mr. [redacted] may have suggested that to replace the glass would be easier, he did agree that he could do the work for what would have been less then the cost of glass replacement.  He made no mention that he could potentially damage the defroster in the process.  If that had been brought up, I would most certainly not have opted to continue. He did take a very long time to complete the job.  I did agree to pay extra.  He wanted over $400 but we settled on the $285 as there are still pieces of tint on the glass.  When I picked up the car he asked me at that time if the defroster worked on my car.   I told him yes.  He suggested that they may have damaged it during the tint removal.  He was warning me.   A few days later on a damp morning I had a chance to test the defroster.  It wasn't working.   I needed to wait until I had proper defroster conditions to test.  I didn't just wait because I felt like it..  I returned to him to tell him about the problem.  He said sorry, call your insurance company and have them pay to replace the glass.  This is when I knew he was very wrong and compounding the issue by asking me to commit insurance fraud.  I asked my mother to get involved since he was treating me like a kid he could push around. My mother called and had a long discussion with him about how he damaged my car.  At one point in the call he said he would refund my money so we would not say bad things about his business.  Then he changed his mind and told me to call my credit card company and dispute the charges.  We did that but then he wrote the same lies to my CC company and the dispute was dismissed w/o resolution.   If this does not get resolved I will be filing a complaint in small claims court.Bottom line, while Mr. [redacted] did remove the tint in my rear windshield, he damaged the windshield beyond repair and I need to spend another $500 to have it properly replaced.  He should have not accepted the job if he really knew there was potential to do this kind of damage.
Regards,
[redacted]
