July 2017: Minus 5 rating. Expressway represented "New Tires, new brakes, new oil, no accidents" on a 2006 Jeep Commander in sales brochure, window sticker and web site. Gave three day money back guarantee to allow for personal mechanics review. Front passenger side tire disintegrated after 60 miles on way to mechanics evaluation. Mechanics pointed out all four tires were dry rotted and over 4 years old would barely pass inspection. Brakes hand less than 30% pad remaining. Evidence of previous accident. Serhan (later found to be an unlicensed salesman) admitted car was not as advertised. Offered to pay to bring car to advertised condition. Willy(unlicensed salesman) who gave money back guarantee reneged on deal. Accused my son of driving aggressively. Serhan refused to return phone calls and all Expressway employees kept saying was "As is" "As is". I paid for repairs (50% of purchase price) and took them to court asserting fraudulent trade practices under Virginia Code. WON fully judgement. Sad thing is they are still operating as an unlawful business in Virginia. Va Revdex.com and States Attorney's Office of Consumer Protection were worthless.

Review: I bought a 2000 [redacted] from Expressway Auto LLC on March 22, 2014. I bought the car without a warranty and an "As Is" clause for $2,900. After one week and 353 miles, the car began to lose power and within a couple miles the car shut off with a loud repetitive metal on metal sound coming from the engine. It was diagnosed by two mechanics to have a case of "rod knock" and would likely need a replacement engine, plus the cost of labor. The mechanics said that an oil stabilizer could have been used to hide the sound of the "rod knock" for a couple hundred miles by thickening the oil. When I talked with Dave the manager by phone at Expressway, he mentioned that they could split labor costs with me if I could find and pay for an engine. He said that they would have taken the car to auction if they knew of the problem. Also, when I bought the car the owner Mr. A[redacted] and Dave showed me a clean title, but claimed to be having trouble with the carfax account that was shared with another dealership. Despite two email requests and an unreturned phone call, I have yet to receive a carfax report. The phone call with the manager was by phone, so I have no evidence. I understand the "as is" clause, but I don't think a new car buyer should have to invest an additional amount of more than half of the original purchase price into a car they bought after driving the car for only a week. I was unable to find clear legal precedence regarding fraudulent and dangerous pre-existing conditions, unbeknownst to the buyer, on used bad cars. Dave also mentioned that Expressway had bought a car back from a buyer, minus the cost of the engine, when the buyer was responsible for the damage and had never driven a manual transmission. This is not the case in my situation because the car is an automatic. From a business ethics standpoint, I would like to see a company stand behind the product they sell.Desired Settlement: I would like compensation for the repairs and parts necessary.
