Bureau about an issue with our oil recommendations. I am sorry to hear you feel we are intentionally providing inaccurate information. It is our desire to be fair and honest while delivering the best quality service with all our guests and their vehicles. Your feedback assists us in providing the highest levels of satisfaction.  We do value your loyalty and wish to preserve your trust in Valvoline. Please be advised, our intention is to educate about preventative maintenance and provide factory recommendations based on time and mileage to avoid costly and inconvenient break downs. Although we may recommend the better oil options, it is ultimately the consumer's choice. I can assure you the good thing about using Valvoline's products is that they are interchangeable. As for your 2008 Toyota Camry, a 0w20 oil is recommended. A synthetic blend or full synthetic oil meets this specification. Per review of this vehicle's history, I show both a synthetic blend and Conventional oil has been used for the life of this vehicle. As for the 2000 VW Beetle, the manufacturer's requirement lists a full synthetic MST at the least. I was not able to locate the history of this vehicle. I will be happy to look further into this matter if you would like to provide the vin number. I will also be discussing your concerns with upper management and the field on proper communication and delivery to avoid any future concerns.  If there is anything further we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Sincerely,Marquesha B[redacted]Valvoline Customer Care Specialist II

Review: This business consistently tells customers that their car requires (much more expensive) synthetic oil when that is not the case. This has now happened the past three times we've taken our cars there (two different cars, one is a 2008 hybrid camry and one is a 2000 beetle 2.0). The first time they tricked my wife into getting the expensive synthetic oil. As bad as this is, even worse is the fact that many mechanics advise that you should not switch back and forth between synthetic and non-synthetic, which is what they forced us to do by insisting (literally) that she must use synthetic (which she did) creating a situation that forced me to either switch back to regular (which you aren't supposed to do) or stay with synthetic (which is expensive and unnecessary). A month later they followed this up by telling my son that his 2000 beetle 2.0 MUST use synthetic, which isn't true. Fortunately he called me and I told him to leave. Please have someone check their computer system without alerting them and see that the information in it on these, and other vehicles is intentionally wrong. This is consumer fraud and is causing harm.Desired Settlement: Investigate their fraudulent business practices and fine them as appropriate.

Review: On June 2, 2015 I went to Valvoline instant oil change at [redacted] in [redacted], CT. I received an oil change on my vehicle and paid for the oil change. On August 4, 2015 at approximately 12:00 AM my vehicle broke down on the side of the highway. I had my vehicle towed to [redacted] in [redacted], CT to have it looked at. [redacted] contacted me the next day and stated that my oil plug to the oil pan was missing and I had no oil in my engine. [redacted] stated that the oil plug was not fastened tight enough and vibrated out over time or it was over tightened, stripped and fell out. I had not had any other oil change services to my vehicle nor had I touched the plug on my oil pan between the oil change at Valvoline and the night my vehicle broke down. I have a receipt from [redacted] stating this is the issue with my vehicle. I am being told that my engine is no longer functioning and needs to be replaced. I also have the receipt from Valvoline showing the date of the oil change.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compensated for the repairs that need to be performed on my vehicle. I beleive that it is only fair I be compensated for Valvoline's mistake.

Most Recent Update: Hello [redacted], Thank you for taking the time to contact Valvoline Customer Care. We are in receipt of the closure letter for [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint # [redacted]. Am I requesting a correction on the closure reason for compliance and correction to rating performance. The following update was submitted to your office August 20, 2015. See the denial response from the Area Manager below: We have completed the investigation of the claim against the [redacted] VIOC for improper work performed on June2,2015 to [redacted]. Our investigation shows that the invoice was noted that a “pan saver” plug was installed prior to our service. This type of plug uses a toggle type of fashioner to secure it to the inside of the pan. This type of plug is highly unlikely to just fall out. VIOC was also not given the opportunity to inspect the vehicle when the vehicle first experienced a problem.
