September 15, Salem [redacted] Thank you for forwarding the complaint for previous resident, [redacted] , case # [redacted] I spoke with him many times during his residency and we responded to his requests very promptly Mr [redacted] ’s residency began on 10/14/and renewed with us from 12/1/– 11/30/2016; however, he moved out on 8/15/ Mr [redacted] alleges he had ongoing water intrusion issues & electrical outlet issues throughout his residency All residents have the capability to enter in their own requests or they can call the office and have a member of our leasing staff enter in the request Mr [redacted] ’s complaints are below, with our resolution: Plumbing issue with water softener that led to water intrusion in cabinets, closets & nearby carpet· Service request entered on 10/17/– completed on 10/20/· Service request entered on 10/23/– completed on 10/23/ Ceiling Leak, which we discovered was from the dishwasher above · Service request entered on 5/11/– completed on 5/13/ Leak from water heater that caused a puddle of water to form in the hallway and claims there was green & white discoloring on the floor He claims mushrooms were growing along the baseboards due to the leak· I have searched all work orders and do not see this service request nor recall the water heater leaking in Mr [redacted] ’s apartment We moved a new resident into his apartment on 9/1/and did not replace the carpet There were no mushrooms or water intrusion found during the move out inspection or during the turn process Outlets not working/electrical issues & power surge that destroyed electrical equipment · Service request entered on 10/17/– completed on 10/20/· Service request entered on 11/2/– completed on 11/3/· Service request entered on 5/11/– completed on 5/13/ Car broken into · A police report was not received regarding Mr [redacted] ’s car being broken into Broken front door frame due to painting issue · Service request for “door lock hard to lock/unlock” entered on 10/17/– completed on 10/20/· Service request for “door hard to lock/unlock” entered on 1/31/– completed on 2/3/ Mr [redacted] contacted me on May via e-mail stating he could no longer afford to live at Salem and asked if we could come to an agreement on his lease termination He did state in the e-mail he had multiple issues with his apartment throughout his residency and asked if I could work with him on the termination I responded to him on May explaining the lease break fee (day notice + a month relet fee) I informed him he could find someone to take over his lease I also told him if he had any outstanding work orders to please let me know and I would get those taken care of right away but I did not receive a response stating any were outstanding He e-mailed me on 6/15/and gave his official Notice to Vacate He asked again if I could work with him on the fee and I explained I could not and he thanked me for responding That was the last I heard from Mr [redacted] He moved out on 8/15/so he did fulfill his day notice The fee that remains is the month relet fee, which we will not be waiving We responded to all his work orders in a timely manner Thank you for your assistance Sincerely, Josh H [redacted] Community Manager

March 13, Salem @ [redacted] Indianapolis, IN Case # [redacted] To Whom It May Concern: Thank you for forwarding the complaint for current resident, [redacted] , case # [redacted] Mr [redacted] was sent a non-renewal notice for his lease that is expiring 4/30/ We have received several written and verbal noise complaints on behalf of Mr [redacted] ’s apartment In addition, there were other complaints of alleged illegal activity Our community courtesy officer, who is a [redacted] police officer and lives on property, has also responded to complaints reported to us; and the [redacted] Police Department has also visited Mr [redacted] ’s apartment on many occasions [redacted] sent over an Event History Summary which reports that they have responded to Mr [redacted] ’s apartment six times since April 27, We also have several recorded phone calls from his neighbor complaining of noise After Mr [redacted] received his non-renewal notice he contacted our courtesy officer and then contacted me explaining to me that his building has an “understanding about him.” Unfortunately, Mr [redacted] is not a good neighbor so we will not renew the lease Thank you for your assistance Sincerely, Brandi Y [redacted] Community Manager (317) 542-
