This company are scammers. Me and my family applied for an apt at 1155 E.35th my husband like the apt so we filled out an application. So the next day I see that the deposit was taken out of my account so we think we are approved. We contacted the real-estate agent and she told us we did not get the apartment and that the company was going to refund my money immediately. I am a restaurant manager and I issue refund all the time and it do not take 2 weeks for anyone to get a refund. This is totally some money scam to hold your money in their account to increase their money flow. I also contacted my bank and let them know what is going on. You can't just hold 2,100 of someone money. The agent told me the refund would be in my account today and this is incorrect. Please do not give this company your money without getting approved first. This is an accounting scheme.

Re: Overdue Deposit Refund Request
I am writing this letter of complaint to express my disappointment with the services I have received from Mr. Richard J a real estate agent working for EXR.
My ordeal started on March 12 when Mr. Richard instructed me to make a deposit payment of $1400 as one month rent for a private room in a 2-bedroom apartment at ***. After several weeks of delays and unsuccessful bid to secure the apartment, I asked for my refund on April 1st and to my disappointment, I have not received any refund till date. To make matter worse, my several messages and phone calls to Richard has remained unanswered.
When I called the EXR Clinton Hill office on Monday, April 8, I spoke with Ms. M (not sure of name spelling) who promised to assist with the refund. She confirmed that Richard is on vacation and not sure if he processed my refund before leaving. I called again on Tuesday and spoke to her, this time she said she has submitted a refund request on my behalf.
However, I was shocked when I called Ms. M on Monday 15th April, and she said she had no clue what is happening to my refund request. It is over a month now I made the deposit of $1400 from my *** / *** accounts respectively, and for the past two weeks I have been asking for a refund with nobody ready to let me know when I will get my refund which they initially said I will get back within five working days from the day I asked for it.
I am feeling frustrated right now because I need the refund to move into a new apartment. I will be glad if this matter is resolved as soon as possible and my deposit refunded without further delay.

We processed your refund as soon as we were notified and it can take up to 5-10 business days to return to your bank account. This is not due to EXR; it's due to the payment processor.
