in May. Our system automatically discontinues  memberships as we place their name in the computer for cancelation, and our computer  had [redacted] set as "June cancelled". (Meaning the computer will not generate an EFT  from the bank for payment in June).
The rules of our facility are written in the contract, as well as it was personally explained to [redacted] apon signing the contract. The contract states that it is a one year agreement to be a member of Extreme Fitness unless moving or a medical issue has occurred. the member can then place an early cancellation notice in. However as the one year contract comes to its final date, the contract then rolls over to a month to month agreement, benefiting the members to no longer be obligated for another year. As stated earlier, [redacted] placed her 30 day notice in May leaving her with her last payment in May as the computer already had her in as "June Cancelled" following with our contractual agreement.
A few days prior to June 6, 2014, [redacted] came in and approached the front desk as I was on the phone with another member. With no regard to me
being on the phone, [redacted] immediately yelled "I want my $24 dollars back in my account" I placed my phone call on hold and addressed [redacted] informing her that the company did not owe her any money, As I was trying to explain why she punched the office glass window and proceeded to push over the front desk computer, leaving the cash drawer on the floor dangling as the money in the drawer went allover the place. I let M[redacted] know that I was calling 911
and she stated "to go ahead" as she left the facility yelling, alarming other members in there workout.
There was no call for any of this. and I hope through this letter she will understand what I was trying to explain to her and she will now have a complete understanding.

Review: I had made a previous request to cancel my gym membership at the end of my contract period. When no action was taken by Extreme Fitness, I hand delivered a letter to their office to request that my membership be cancelled and no further withdrawals be made from my account. The letter was hand delivered on November 14, 2012 to the person working the desk. I asked that they be sure the manager get the letter and they assured me they would give it to him when he returned. I have just realized that Extreme Fitness has continued to make unauthorized monthly withdrawals from my account in the amount of $35.00 each month. I have not attended the gym in more than 18 months and feel that a refund of these unauthorized withdrawals is justified for the period of November 14, 2012 through September 17, 2013. They can verify that I have not attended their facilities in at least 18 months through their electronic scanning system.Desired Settlement: I want my membership officially cancelled as of November 14, 2012 as requested AND the money for those months to be refunded to me as they did not have authorization for those withdrawals.

Response:

After speaking with [redacted] from the company on 10/23/13 he stated the company never received a written cancellation letter from the customer, the company has cancelled the customer's membership and no money is owed to the customer.

Review: I had a one year membership with Extreme Fitness. This membership expired at the end of April 2014 yet I was charged an additional month of membership in May. I provided in writing my intent to discontinue this membership once the contract expired to the owner and he accepted it. He refuses to reimburse the erroneous May charge.Desired Settlement: I wish to have the $24 fee reimbursed to my checking account or a check mailed to my home.
