Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I was never contacted to bring the truck in for further inspection from the district managerI never received a phone call or message, I was the one to call the shop. The phone call ended with me saying the I seemed to be getting the run around as to who is at fault and what to do with a scratched truck and would look into other answers as to fix the paint.Extreme truck also told me that not every topper fits a truck perfectly, and when the topper was installed the second time an additional layer of foam was installed to add extra protection, this should have been done at the first install Regards, [redacted] ***

I am rejecting this response because:I realize the business does not want to take responsibility for poor workmanship on the install and this is why I have filed a complaint with the Revdex.com They refused to try and help with the damage citing it is not covered under warranty and they have no further responsibility, this is unfair and should be noted If I had purchased a $part I would not worry, the fact that I spent almost $ on a truck topper to install on a $truck is why I feel it should be taken care of

*** *** ** *** ** ***Upon initially receiving the customers topper in early May 2017our staff
noticed some scratches in the paint from shippingThe topper was refused and sent back to the factory to have them fixedThe topper was received a few weeks later and after a complete inspection it was installed on the customers vehicleThe customer inspected the topper and took delivery of it.On 6/16/17, a few weeks later the customer came back because he was having a problem with the left rear blinkerHe said the Toyota dealer had noticed a wire that had been pinched during the installation The pinched wire caused the logic box to malfunctionThe customer said the Toyota dealer fixed the wire and wrapped it and the system was working fine now.On 7/5/the customer came back in because a chunk of fiberglass was broken out on the rear corner of the topper and there was a paint chip by the 3rd brake lightThe customer said he had not hit anything with it and was not aware of anything that could have hit the topperWe called the manufacturer and they agreed to have the topper sent back to the factory for further inspectionThey determined that the only way it could have been damaged was from being hit or struck by somethingIt was not a mold failure with the fiberglassDue to the fact it had been shipped all the way back to Ohio the manufacture decided to repair it since the customer had already been inconvenienced in the beginning when the topper had some paint damage from shipping. When the topper was removed it was noticed that the topper had rubbed the paint on both box sides in the same spotThe customer was concerned that the topper was not installed properlyThe rub marks were not visible when the topper was on the vehicleThe topper was installed using the manufacture recommendations and in the same way we have installed them for the last years using one layer of foam seal tape. The manager said she would check with the manufacturer to see if they had any recommendations and if they would possibly pay to repair the rub marks on the box sidesThis would require repainting both box sides on the truck. The customer was also encouraged to call the manufacturer to voice his concerns, with the thought being that if us as the dealer and him as the customer were both in the manufacturers ear maybe something would be done. The manufacture came back with Paragraph under the warranty exclusions that clearly states: Consequential damage or loss due to the installation, use, misuse, abuse or neglect of A.R.E truck caps is the sole responsibility of the pickup owner and operatorPaint wear to your truck is and is expected with the installation and the use of any truck cap or tonneau and is the sole responsibility of the pickup ownerPrecautions should be taken by the pickup owner to prevent corrosionA.R.E shall not be held liable for any consequential loss or damages arising from the purchase , installation or use of these products. The Topper was received back from the manufacturer and the customer brought the vehicle back in to have it reinstalledIn an effort to prevent any further paint damage we installed an extra layer of foam seal tape to create a little extra space between the topper and the box sides(this is not a recommended procedure) The customer was notified that the vehicle was ready to be picked up and he again questioned us, asking what we were going to do about the paint rub issueWe explained to him that we were not responsible for the problem and that the manufacture had taken the position that they were not going to pay to repaint the box sidesHe insisted that it was our fault and he wanted the owners phone numberThe customer told us to remove the topper and he would pick up his vehicleWe informed him that we were not going to remove it because we did not have room to store it for him and we from: 'Hanna Olson' via Dispute Resolution reply-to: Hanna O*** to: [email protected]: Tue, Aug 29, at 10:PMsubject: Respose to complaint ID #*** not be responsible for it on our property if something were to happen to it.The shop owner was aware of the situation and all that had transpired, he did not return the customers phone call because the situation was under control and being handled correctly by the Manager at Extreme Truck, after all that is why he hires managers in the first placeTalking to the owner will not change the manufactures position on the issue The manager has went over and above to try to please and help the customer We informed the customer that we had notified the regional manager of A.R.E about the problem and he would be in town within a few weeks and then he could talk face to face with the factory representativeWe felt this may be the only or last shot to resolve the issue. The customer Then stated that he did not want any further assistance and hung up on the manager. On 8/16/the regional manager From A.R.E came to town to discuss the issue with the customerWe called the customer to see if he could bring the truck down to the shop to talk to the regional manager and show him what was happeningThe customer said he did not want our help anymore and hung up on the manager. On 8/24/the customer called the manager at Extreme Truck and proceeded to complain again about the rubbing issue demanding that something be doneThe manager explained to him again that Extreme Truck does not build the toppers and that this was a manufacturer issue that would have to be resolved by themThe manager offered to give him the regional managers contact information and the customer hung up again.on 8/28/we were notified of the complaint to the Revdex.comWe have done all that we can to resolve the customers issue but when he does not hear what he wants to hear he simply hangs upThe problem was not caused by Extreme Truck Outfitters and is a common issue and even expected as stated in the warranty paper work that was provided to the customer at the time of delivery.Thank You.Hanna Olson:-DManagerExtreme Truck IncEYellowstone Hwy.Casper, WY 82601307-265-
