Review: Toward the end of April to the beginning of May 2014, I took my husband [redacted] to Eye Image for an eye exam & new glasses. Everything was fine until my husband went to get his glasses and could't see out of them. Over the next month Boris the office manager attempted to "tweak" the prescription to get it to work. Finally May 30th 2014 my husband asked Boris to take the glasses back and refund my flexible spending account $1,146.30. Boris told my husband to bring the other pair of glasses back and to have me to bring my card in for a refund. The following week I took the glasses back expecting my card to be refunded. Boris said to me "I have to check with the doctor regarding your refund and I will get back with you. A week goes by and I don't hear from Boris so I called him only to be told that there will be no refund only store credit and that their policy is no refunds and they do not accept glasses back. Well on May 30th Boris completely contradicted the stores policy by telling my husband to have me to bring my card back for a refund to be issued and by taking the glasses back. After several phone calls with Boris and a letter addressed to Dr. L[redacted] they are still refusing to refund my money. My husband in June was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which caused hyper viscosity which caused retinopathy. Retinopathy can cause major visual disturbances. I would have thought this would have been picked up during his eye exam but it wasn't! The chemotherapy and other drugs are costing us at least $200.00 out of pocket every month and the $1,146.30 from my IRS regulated flexible spending account is being held by a doctor I have no intentions on returning to! The only thing I am asking is for the doctor to refund me my money minus the cost of the eye exam but she is unwilling to do so. In my letter to her I asked for her specifically to return my call but instead she had an office staff by the name of Stephanie to return my call. I hope the Revdex.com can help me to resolve this issueDesired Settlement: A full refund miuns the cost of the eye exam which was $32.00

Response:

September 16,2014To Whom It May Concern:[redacted] came in for his eye examination on March 31, 2014. He stated that he was in good health and taking no medications at the time. He complained of blurred vision both at distance and near, headache, and eye strain especially at work when he is on his computer.[redacted]’ prescription changed very little. He was already wearing progressive/no-line bifocals, so I advised him to stay with progressive lenses. He then purchased 2 pairs of glasses. He was notified on April 14,2014 that glasses were ready, and he came in on April 15,2014 to pick them up. He tried the glasses on and threw it on a counter and said that it was not comfortable at distance or near. Boris, who is a Virginia licensed optician with more than 25 years of experience, adjusted glasses and advised [redacted] to wear them for a week to see if that would help. [redacted] refused. He told Boris that he’s been also wearing +1.25 over-the-counter readers and that he feels comfortable. He wanted the glasses to be remade with no prescription at top for distance and wanted +1.25 at the bottom for reading like the over-the-counter readers he has. Boris advised against it and since we can only do one remake, Boris advised [redacted] to see me for a prescription re-check first. He refused. He said that he was fine with +1.25 and wanted the glasses remade.Boris ordered the lenses to the prescription [redacted] wanted and remade one of his glasses on April 30, 2014. [redacted] came in and tried the glasses on and said it was fine and took it with him. He wanted the other pair redone as well and he’ll return in 1-2 weeks to pick it up. Then on May 30, 2014 [redacted] came in because he was getting headache with the glasses. He did not want the glasses any more and left them. Boris informed him that he’ll speak to me and see what can be done.On June 2, 2014 [redacted] called and wanted a refund. Boris explained to [redacted] that there is no refund on eyeglasses. It is clearly stated on every receipt. Boris tried to explain that the remake was done at [redacted]’ request. There is no refund or store credit. [redacted] thinks that there is a store credit because [redacted] left the glasses with us. She said she’ll contact Revdex.com and other agencies to file a complaint and hung up.On June 12,2014, [redacted] called again requesting a refund. Boris informed her that Dr. L** will do a recheck and do another remake at no charge as a courtesy. She refused. She only wants a refund. On August 29,2014, [redacted] faxed us a letter requesting a refund and that she did not want a store credit. She wants one pair to be remade and want a refund on a second pair. She also stated that [redacted] was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and has a retinopathy. Stephanie, store manager, called her and explained that that is no store credit or a refund. It is our policy, and it is clearly stated on every receipt. Even though a remake was done on both pairs at [redacted] request, Dr. L** is willing to do another remake for both pairs for him. However, since [redacted] has a retinopathy, Dr. L** wanted a report from [redacted]’ doctor to see if his vision can be improved with glasses. [redacted] refused and said she will not send us anything from his doctor. She informed us that she will be filing a complaint with Revdex.com and hung up.My offer still stands. I will recheck his prescription and do another remake for him as a courtesy. However, I do need a report from [redacted]’ doctor regarding his retinopathy so that I’ll know what can be done or what his best corrected vision will be with glasses. We are trying to work with [redacted] (and [redacted]). Eyeglasses are custom made specifically for each patient. Once the lenses are ordered and cut to the frame, the lab will not take the lenses back. Therefore, we do not do refunds on eyeglasses. It is clearly stated on the receipt (please see enclosed receipt for [redacted]) that there is no refund.Sincerely,Crystal L OD
